To regret not getting a robot vacuum sooner

Oh my days. What a game changer! Bought it on Wednesday and the joy of seeing him pootling about, vacuuming and mopping my floors while I get in with other things! I have three kids and I think I’ve vacuumed twice a day for the last 16 years. Hours of my life back. And it does a great job too. Am I alone in my new obsession?

Ive got a Neato it was amazing but theyve shut the app down so now its completely useless. Neato say its ok because I can still use it manually by pressing the button to start it but the whole thing for me was that I used the app to clean while I was out. Maybe ill be able to save up for a romba this year.

Oh I miss my Neato! It was fab, have a Rumba now and it was very expensive and really not as good at all. It does empty itself and does mop though. But the Neato had such good suction it was brilliant with dog hair. I was gutted when they stopped making them.

Yeah, I would never set ours to go at a set timw everyday - too dangerous with mess or clutter. But it 100% is a game changer over all.

Re the poster who asked about costs - the more high tech and powerful it is, the more expensive. We have hard floors and a no mop version so a relatively inexpensive eufy at around £160 (on sale) has been brilliant. And at that cost, wr got twice the sucking power of the one we had before which had cost twice the price. So go for the most expensive you can afford, but you will still get a great option as yhe base line technology has advanced so much over the last few years.

Question re the mapping - mine doesn't map but I am trying with upgrading to a vacuum ans mop version. What happens if, for example, it maps the room but you have moved the furniture? Eg I work in the dining area and the table has yo be slightly moved to accommodate my computer ans screens. Would the mapping be OK with these sort of changes?

Do these work with having kids? I have pretty much given up with hoovering in general and sweep the floors (mainly hard floors). My Dd's seem to always manage to scatter hair bobbles across the floor, bits of cut off paper from craft projects and lots of random other bits. I can imagine a robot vacuum would end up broken trying to suck this stuff up. Maybe I have particularly messy children 🤦.

Ours "Yoof" doesn't deal with loom band well 😆 seems to pick them up and then scatter them elsewhere! Forever moaning DD to not drop them on the floor, bloody things

I have a Eufy, had it a few years and agree it’s amazing.

They are talked about and promotions on MN quite a bit OP (as are electric throws, also amazing!).

I don’t have a mop function though - good to know its effective and probably will get one when this one needs to be replaced.

Shame they don’t do corners but you can’t have everything!

Loom bands were once the bane of my life - this too shall pass (edited as not OP! Sorry!)

Our robot lawn mower is the best, it’s one of the best things we’ve bought. He’s about to go into his fourth cutting season!

@Clefable Would you mind sharing the make / model that you have please ?

Im considering getting one , I’m too busy to be doing lawns !

thx

Has anyone used a robot vacuum and mop on an LVT floor? I would love the idea of this but I’m worried the mop function will damage it.

I have a Eufy mop and vac and Amtico flooring no issues at all. It wasnt particularly cheap, but it does a good job.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 01/02/2026 23:56

Have the Roborock that hoovers and mops. Takes himself back to recharge and empty. Then when mopping takes himself back to “wash the mop” before tootling off again. The only problem I find is when there’s a lot of dog hair it can get clogged and leave lumps of hair at the edges of rugs. My own fault though as he’s fine when I sort it.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 02/02/2026 12:11

I'm just thinking of the YouTuber whose Roomba spread dog shit all over the living room floor.

motherofawhirlwind · 03/02/2026 08:12

We just got an Eufy and as we're mid kitchen renovation, had limited her to the lounge. Came home one day to find her happily pootling about in the kitchen... Think the cats must have managed to turn her on. She'd navigated all sorts, been under the cupboards (no kick boards), gone across 5 different surfaces... Can't wait for her to put her to work properly!

RedFluffyElephant · 03/02/2026 08:46

Do you know whether they can navigate steps? In Our house, there are a couple of steps up or down for each room. I would love one.

They can’t but you can buy little ramps. We have two.

DH has been talking about buying a cordless hoover as our Eufy lives downstairs and he hates getting the big hoover out and lugging it round the house.

But I might move my non mopping Eufy (Robbie) upstairs and get a new mopping one for downstairs.

That only leaves the stairs and I'm sure we can manage those 🤔

Eufy messaged this week to see if we'd have any interest in a stair climber. I had seen some videos and responded that they look great, but they need to clean the stairs on the way past! 😂

@JudesBiggestFan You had a Henry? Oh dear! We just have a wand one for crumbs. I cannot imagine programming robot one for our house. We vacuum once a week.
