To think you actually need 2k a week to live on?

TheIcyAquaFawn · 26/01/2026 22:31

Post bills/house etc?
For a brilliant quality of life?

Perfect week stuff as in fun activities, no budget. Food shopping throwing everything in the trolley - lots of easy food. Being able to order Ubereats whenever you fancy ?

86k take home? That's almost no one then.

Probably not, but just in theory - I think that’s the perfect amount.

I don't know what planet you live on @TheIcyAquaFawn but we live on one third of that!

£2K a week is £100K a year. The vast majority of people do not earn this, or anywhere near this! (Many people have less than half of this!)

.

takealettermsjones · 26/01/2026 22:37

I mean it sounds great, sign me up...

But seriously? £285 per day? I can't imagine I'd even have enough time to spend that every day.

ZenNudist · 26/01/2026 22:37

Post tax post bills post mortgage? £2k is an awful lot of food and spends money.

I’m not saying I have that, just that I think that would be the perfect amount.

LemaxObsessive · 26/01/2026 22:38

What are you hoping to gain from this thread? Lighthearted or not, all it’s achieving is making the majority of people (as the majority of working people don’t get anywhere near what you describe) feel inadequate. In a cost of living crisis.
We’re not on the breadline but nowhere near £2k a week!

Indianajet · 26/01/2026 22:39

So £2,000 a week after you have paid the bills? Ridiculous.

I consider groceries part of my bills... Do you mean this amount has to include the food shop?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 26/01/2026 22:40

It sounds a lovely idea to have that much! I don’t think you need it but it would be lovely.

Not' £2K a week would be the perfect amount.'

jbm16 · 26/01/2026 22:42

The problem is most people just increase their spending standard of living to that amount, for some that will be a loads for others with large mortgages, school fees it won't be that much.

I do whatever I want in that a month, admittedly the house is paid off. We don’t eat takeaways (always disappointing) and I cook from scratch, I like cooking so not looking for junk foods or ready meals which tend to be pricey.

HowDoYouSolveAProblemLikeMyRear · 26/01/2026 22:44

If that's how you measure quality of life, yes.

I think there are far better (and less materialistic) ways to measure quality of life!

See I’m really naughty and hate cooking so I just know I’d order McDs several times a week and go to Nando’s lol

What are you planning to spend it on😂 and find the time to spend that! Some point you end up having everything you need.

I don't feel remotely inadequate because I don't need £2,000 a week to live on!

I find the whole premise of this thread ridiculous and nonsensical. I would imagine most people will feel the same, and will think the idea that you actually need £2,000 a week to live on farcical. I doubt people will feel inadequate. The OP is in cloud cuckoo land.

How so? It’s no diffrence to those ‘if you won the euro millions’ threads

Earning that and spending it on cigarettes, 'easy' food and unlimited UberEats?
