@noonames
Oh I'm sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is when you lose a cat.

I'm more upset about animals passing than humans.

Hope your other cat and dog bring you some peace.

I'm just sitting watching sort your life out on BBC with the cat, it's making me want to sort my clutter

Calm down!!

De-cluttering is for another day 🤣

I’m sitting up in bed with a cat stretched out along my legs and a dog snoring on her bed in the corner, watching Blackshore on the iPlayer. Lisa Dwan is so good. Been a funny few days as our other cat died this week and it has really knocked me for six, quite surprised as he much preferred DH and hadn’t bothered with me at all for a while. He was very old though and there are memories of him all over the house. And I had to tell the DC, which was awful because they loved him so much and he saw them through their entire childhoods. In desperation this evening I talked (? Corresponded?) with ChatGPT and that was actually quite helpful, I feel a bit calmer now. I hope I can take a few moments to be sad tomorrow instead of the grief just absolutely flooring me all the time. At some point I am going to have to be able to leave the house and manage a day at work without crying 😬

Anyway - we had chilli for dinner with some guacamole and a jacket potato. Just the two of us as DS is working tonight and DD away at uni. I’ll finish this episode and then probably go to sleep, I’m exhausted.

Sorry to hear about your cat.
I was more upset than I expected when our old cat died, he was old and had a great life but it was more the memories that got me, all the changes that had happened since we got him

We are watching this too, quite enjoying it. Had pizza earlier, the fire is lit and I can hear the rain, one of the gutters is dripping where it shouldn’t.

Well I am very jealous of you having a fire, only central heating for me, but I have a lovely chocolate lab to snuggle up with so every cloud x

This is it I think. We got him when DD was 3 and now she’s in her 2nd year at uni. He was such a big part of our family life and was there with us for so many important moments. And now the DC are heading out into the world, various shenanigans with DH mean things are quite rocky, we may be selling the house, everything is fracturing, it feels like DCat was the glue that held us all together and now he’s gone. It’s all so hard to bear. Thank you everyone for your kind words, it does help to share.

Can I jump in to say hello too?

We're retired, no DC, so I suppose every day is like the weekend for us!

Had a lovely day though, we have 5 dogs so had a good walk this morning with them, we're always out for longer than usual at the weekends because we bump into neighbours who work during the week so we have a catch up with them.

Came home and DH made cheese scones while I made bread. 2 cheese scones with butter for a late lunch each! Damn tasty. Sausages, mash and veg for dinner and we're now sitting peacefully with a Woodwick candle crackling in the background. Nothing we fancy watching on TV so I'll get my book soon I think, I'm reading Dracula! It's actually really quite creepy.

I hope everyone has a peaceful (or wild if you prefer!) evening x

Hi Carrie,

I’m trying to persuade my DP to move to Scotland at the moment. Your day sounds exactly like what I’d love ours to be. 🙂

It is bloody awful when our cat,dog dies. I cried so much when our beloved dog died 11 years ago..I thought I would never be ok ever again. I have had many people die in my life as well but couldn't stop crying. Perhaps a cummulation of love and loss? Who knows?

Rictasmorticia · 24/01/2026 21:43

Just watching Traitors Ireland and scoffing chicken and french bread. Just recovering from stomach problems so it is so nice to get my appetite back.

Boudy · 24/01/2026 21:43

Gorgeous cat photo! We can't have a cat as 2 family members are really allergic which is very annoying! We have 2 dogs though.

Boudy · 24/01/2026 21:44

Foronenightonlytonight · 24/01/2026 21:52

Evening! In for the chat if that's ok? Chilling with mulled wine and cheese, fire lit. Had a nice day out country park with kids n OH, bacon butties. For wallpaper, I prefer the darker one on the right of the flower choices, and the middle top of the cream choices. I like both paint choices OP, go as daring as you can I reckon!! Looking forward to another good sleep hopefully tonight as catching up from DC being ill in the week. I am crap at TV watching, hence MN and chill!! (Is that a thing!?!?) Might scroll vinted for bargain coats.

FunnyOrca · 24/01/2026 21:56

@user2848502016 I like your favourite and the one directly below it.

Evening. Sat on the settee with my just turned 10 month old asleep on me, eating a bag of chocolate. I should probably put him in his bed in a bit but currently enjoying sleepy cuddles and remembering that exactly this time 10 months ago I was attempting to change his nappy for the first time. Feel like we've come such a long way since that first night 😁

Hi Carrie,

Do it! We're a friendly bunch 🤗.

@Squeakydogtoy , it is terrific being retired (although it does have the downside of being old!)

I'm loving the cat photos. We lost our last little cat a year ago, he was an old boy too but it doesn't matter how long we have them does it, it's never long enough. I still can't bring myself to look at photos of him just yet.

Sorry for those who've not been well, and well done to those of you who've been productive!

I'll look out for the Dolly P programme, she's amazing isn't she, what a life she's had.

shellyleppard · 24/01/2026 21:58

@LemaxObsessive are you okay hun? Here if you want to talk x

shellyleppard · 24/01/2026 22:00

@Stripesandblue enjoy the cuddles x they soon grow up x if I hug my son now my face is on a level with his armpit 🤣🤣
