TV really is rubbish lately. Apart from the traitors, that was great!

I have begun on Irish Traitors!

TheChosenTwo · 24/01/2026 20:29

@bettyblackdog that’s my mum’s exact order! We usually order so much food between us, the starters are the best bit and then I end up saving my chow mein for the next day because I’ve eaten so many duck pancakes, crispy chilli squid and prawn toast that I can’t even look at the mains 🤣

ah @FunnyOrca we’re all at different stages aren’t we? I had mine really quite young and now I’m 40 I’m totally appreciating slowing down a bit and having time to pursue my hobbies etc. grateful that at the moment our parents are all in fairly stable health but we both understand that it can change on a whim at any time so have to grab these periods of time and make the most of them because one day we will have demands on our weekends and spare time again.
What exhibition were you at if you don’t mind sharing?

NimbleHiker · 24/01/2026 20:29

Hello. I am sat on the sofa with a glass of wine. I am reading my deptq books as there is nothing on the telly. I am feeling sorry for myself as i have had to order a new washing machine. I can afford it but i always come out in a nasty rash if i hand wash my clothes.

purplecorkheart · 24/01/2026 20:30

Bored out of my tree tonight for no reason. Given up on tv and trying my usual channels on youtube but no luck. Also trying not to eat my body weight of chocolate hobnobs and failing badly!

Boudy · 24/01/2026 20:33

Hello all. Anxiety is the pits! I am going to watch Dolly Parton at the BBC..on beeb 2 should be on after Magnificent seven. I am on my bed in pjs.

RosieSpring · 24/01/2026 20:33

Period started and i'm despondent. The weather here hasn't let up, just rain, muck, mud and a feeling of despair. Wine

Boudy · 24/01/2026 20:36

Boudy · 24/01/2026 20:36

@TheChosenTwo may your parents good health continue! The baby has been long awaited so we are both feeling ready/excited to be on the swimming lesson treadmill for the next few years! As they say, everything is a phase!

I’ll pop the exhibition link below. It was fab! I really rushed through but he basically hung out of little planes during wartime in Europe and then later in the Americas to take photos. Apparently survived 9 plane crashes! He did interesting stuff with the exposures which made the clouds really striking!

Can I jump in to say hello too?

We're retired, no DC, so I suppose every day is like the weekend for us!

Had a lovely day though, we have 5 dogs so had a good walk this morning with them, we're always out for longer than usual at the weekends because we bump into neighbours who work during the week so we have a catch up with them.

Came home and DH made cheese scones while I made bread. 2 cheese scones with butter for a late lunch each! Damn tasty. Sausages, mash and veg for dinner and we're now sitting peacefully with a Woodwick candle crackling in the background. Nothing we fancy watching on TV so I'll get my book soon I think, I'm reading Dracula! It's actually really quite creepy.

I hope everyone has a peaceful (or wild if you prefer!) evening x

I know she's had a lot of work done but even so, incredible genes?

Boudy · 24/01/2026 20:37

That exhibition looks fab!

Cally62 · 24/01/2026 20:38

I've given up and come to bed. Dh is watching shit tv downstairs.
I've been awake since 2.30am and didn't sleep well the night before.

Had surgery on my bum yesterday and was so anxious about having a general anaesthetic my bp was high. I nearly didn't go.

Anyway it was a fine. I woke up gently, no sickness, felt floaty.

Over did it today though and now I literally have a pain in the arse.

Dd came over earlier and brought a huge get well care and a 800g of peanut m&m's.

Definitely going to have a pm day tomorrow and make a start on the m&m's.

Oh no! Forking out for a new machine in January! That's got to sting!

CarrieMoonbeams

Do you live in one of those quaint english villages i often read about on here? Your life sounds really lovely.

Boudy · 24/01/2026 20:39

She has said 'it costs a lot of money to look this trashy!' I saw her live about 12 years ago...sooooo talented imo

user2848502016 · 24/01/2026 20:39

I’m having a glass of red wine and have wallpaper samples spread out on the living room floor - for redecorating the hallway. I am looking at them trying to pick my favourite

Oh how I long to be retired.

Bet it's great knowing you can do what you want, when you want ?

Sounds like you've had a great day

@user2848502016

That was my downfall today, thinking I could run around getting wallpaper samples to paper the hall.

There's 2 samples stuck up and no one likes my choice.

I really like it though.

What are you going for.😁

Yes, do share!

I'm looking at paint ideas for my living room.
I rent and have a, very dated, daydo(sp) rail round the middle of the room, and a mantle piece in the middle of one wall, so going to do the obvious and paint the lower half a darker shade of the top half

I'm thinking brown(I know!) Grey is dated, and I've green in the kitchen and bathroom., so don't really know what other colours to go for.
