Or don't do to make them enjoyable.

Need inspiration!

Not go to work!

Day trips or just pottering in the garden especially in summer. My children are older but when they were young we would just enjoy countryside walks on bikes and things like that.

wordywitch · 24/01/2026 09:20

Reading, going for walks or drives, visiting a new town, gardening, shopping, baking. Love a Sunday!

Pricelessadvice · 24/01/2026 09:20

Sunday is my Saturday as I work tues- sat (sometimes also work Monday) so it’s my favourite day. I sort the yard out (horses), walk the dogs, do a bit of housework, visit family. Love it.

Moen · 24/01/2026 09:21

I keep Sunday as a completely free day, food shop/housework/laundry is all done on a Friday evening or Saturday.

We go for walks, play games, or if the kids are out with friends I just sit and read a book. Sundays are my favourite day.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 24/01/2026 09:23

Got to church, have a roast dinner either in the middle or at 6pm. Go to a National trust or visit relatives in the afternoon. Do craft or gardening in the afternoon.

Or sort out elderly relatives tech or household problems. Less fun.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 24/01/2026 09:23

Ooh yes, board games if we have enough people home.

Didimum · 24/01/2026 09:25

walk, park, roast dinner, move night.

RueLepic · 24/01/2026 09:25

Tomorrow we’re having friends over for brunch, which will probably take up much of the afternoon, and then DH and I are going to a gig nearby. Other Sundays I might go sea swimming, climb a not very ambitious mountain, go and stay with distant friends for the weekend, cook something elaborate, see parents, see friends for a drink, or mooch with the papers if the weather is foul.

Nitgel · 24/01/2026 09:26

Get depressed sunday should just be like any other day. Restricted by arcane laws.

JaneBirkinstock · 24/01/2026 09:27

Thanks for replies. I used to love Sundays when DD was little. Empty nesters now and I spend Sunday stressing about work on Monday. What a waste!

If I don’t have anything planned with friends then gym first thing, with the luxury of that being when I’m ready instead of at a specific time, brunch at my favourite cafe & then either go out somewhere or have a lazy afternoon.

Last Sunday I visited a local art gallery & then had coffee & cake outside so I could enjoy the snowdrops.

JaneBirkinstock · 24/01/2026 09:35

I could enjoy the snowdrops

Ooh - think I'll go snowdrop searching! Lovely 🙂

Anyone recommend a board game for two players?

Sunday roast and the pub with friends.
I love Sundays

ExperiencedTeacher · 24/01/2026 09:46

I wasn’t a fan of Sundays with my ex because the whole day was spent anticipating Monday and it made it miserable. Now I make the most of the day. I don’t have my kids on a Sunday so tend to get out for walks, go for lunch, see friends, so shopping etc. We do especially love heading out early and going to the beach or the hills. I like making a real day of it.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 24/01/2026 09:54

For me it’s a catch up, prep and chill day. Catch up on sleep and spend time with family. I prep for the week ahead - some meal prep and also clothes so I don’t have to think about what to wear and that calms my anxiety about work. I try to fit in a long walk and then a roast in the afternoon and maybe a fire if the weather is cold enough. Summer is bbq and relaxing in the garden.

What arcane laws are restricting your Sundays to the point where you’re depressed?

magicalmadmadamim · 24/01/2026 09:56

Sometimes i sell or buy at the local car boot sale/market, breakfast after, otherwise its a walk by the river at the local park, bake a cake and roast.

MrTwisterHasABlister · 24/01/2026 09:58

Lie in with coffee and my book, potter, tidy the garden, do some ironing (fortnightly), watch TV, go for a walk, cook, chat to friends on phone, long bath late morning or in the afternoon, early night.

Love Sundays.

Overthebow · 24/01/2026 10:00

See friends, family days out, take DCs to the park or woodland walks, games, Sunday lunch out. I love weekends.

CantThinkOfAnotherUsernane · 24/01/2026 10:06

I have my grandchild every Sunday, I love it

oscalo · 24/01/2026 10:07

I come from a Catholic background, and while I don't partake in organised religion anymore, I still have the residue in me of Sunday being a "day of rest". So that's what I do! Very little really apart from a short walk, food, and relaxation.

Everyone is different and has different priorities/needs and responsibilities. Mine are few now, so I can indulge in a restful Sunday if I want to, and I mostly do!

HeyThereDelila · 24/01/2026 10:18

We go to church, then stay for coffee after, have a roast lunch at home in colder months then go for a walk/bike ride/visit a National Trust place or play board games if raining, then have tea of sandwiches, cake etc, maybe another game then it’s bath and bed for the DC and sorting out school ot work stuff for Monday for us, then TV and bed.

muddyford · 24/01/2026 10:19

Not a lot! A good walk with the dogs, perhaps some laundry if the weather is fair, reading, cooking. A day with no particular schedule really. Used to go to church but since DH has become disabled the priest comes here on Saturday evening.

Tina46 · 24/01/2026 10:24

Nothing particularly different to what I might do on a Saturday, depending on plans / workload / season etc.

So might be house renovations / gardening / relaxing / some work / reading / board games / cooking / catch up with friends / go for a walk or swim / go out for dinner / go to an event or show / ferry DD to dance lessons / sofa and tv / cleaning / folding and putting away another sodding basket of laundry / grocery shopping and planning what to eat next week / sleeping in / morning sex / go shopping / potter around in charity shops / day out / weekend away / out for brekkie etc

Itsnearlyxmas · 24/01/2026 10:30

I often go to the cinema on a Sunday, alone or with a friend
