Or don't do to make them enjoyable.

Need inspiration!

Sunday is my favourite day.Lazy day usually with a nice lunch and do very little. The husband does his thing, the kids do their thing and we all meet up round the table at some point for a roast. It is unhurried with no pressure and its so chilled ,it does us all good to unwind and just be. During better weather we might go to the coast for the day, or other places on of interest.

Farticus101 · 25/01/2026 11:00

Saturdays are my 'go for a daytrip' type day, so Sundays are baking, reading, nature walk days. I do get house jobs done in between (ironing, laundry).

I spend Monday mornings stressing about work just as I go into work. It's practically pencilled in.

UK2HK · 25/01/2026 11:01

I'm single with no children, so whatever I want.

aCatCalledFawkes · 25/01/2026 11:02

Mine normally starts with rugby for my son and not much else in the cold at the moment apart from washing, cooking, call the midwife later etc... a lazy day really. I'm much more of a summer person and love being outside then.

Nomedshere · 25/01/2026 11:10

We are retired....today is quiet as we had a busy day yesterday at a museum and a vintage emporium.
So we are going out for coffee shortly and then home to make a beef bourgignon and a cake.
Generally we avoid our usual walking places on Sunday as they are heaving

I have a bittersweet relationship with Sundays.
Saturdays are so busy with football, shopping, laundry, cleaning and jobs I can’t do in the week due to my long work hours and literal exhaustion!! However, I get the Sunday scaries. I’ve usually got some work to do for Monday which helps with the sacries BUT I try not to do it and deal with the consequences on Monday. I’m at risk of burn out.
My favourite type of Sunday is a lie-in, coffee in bed. Stay in bed as long as I can. Dress in comfy clothes or don’t get dressed at all, don’t leave the house. Lie down as much as possible. Scroll on my phone, watch some mindless tv. Eat a meal my husband has cooked, have a long bath, maybe a beer and an early night.
To me, this is not boring and is my favourite type. When I’m not at risk of burnout, I quite liked a family meal in a pub, a couple of Guinness and an early night!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/01/2026 11:19

Today I got up at 10, and am still lying in bed with the cat while DP makes bacon sandwiches. I have a Pilates class at 1.30, then will nip to the shops, come home and do some work, and then a big bubble bath, nails, sort out work clothes for Monday and Tuesday. DP is cooking dinner but often he goes to football on a Sunday and I do it.

We’re in Scotland so no restricted opening of things.

Newname71 · 25/01/2026 11:22

Sit on my arse in my pyjamas. 😄
I work F/T, spend every single Saturday out with my widowed DM.
My kids are older (one has left home) so I don’t feel obliged to do anything on a Sunday.

That sounds fab, can me & my dog please join you? 😆🖤

Yes but you must bring wine - and it must be dry! 😋

I could enjoy the snowdrops

Ooh - think I'll go snowdrop searching! Lovely 🙂

Anyone recommend a board game for two players?

Ticket to ride works well with two people. Also Bananagrams (shorter and less intense than Scrabble or Upwords, though I enjoy those too). Yahtzee or Rummikub other good ones for two people.

We always enjoy codenames duet, patchwork and ticket to ride.

Also if you like detective there is a sherlock holmes game or there are some really good 'escape room' games called Exit the game. We have done a few of those and have reallty fun puzzles

paddyclampster · 25/01/2026 11:49

It’s not Sundays more Sunday nights that I’m not a fan of. Probably because I can’t have a drink due to work the next day. Some of it must be psychological / stuck with me from the past because I don’t particularly dread work (just the very early alarm clock) and the kids have left home so no homework to sort!

TooOldforThisSh1t3 · 25/01/2026 11:54

My DS14 plays football, so as a family, Sunday mornings are up, head out in the car to wherever the match is. We get hot chocolates/ coffee on the way, then go for lunch somewhere afterwards.
Then it’s home, light a fire, easy tea and get organised for the week ahead.

If (when!) I’m an empty nester, I think Sundays would be a nice brunch in a posh artisan bakery, and a long hot bubble bath with a good book

1AnotherOne · 25/01/2026 12:00

It’s my day off!

no children. Get up in the morning, have a coffee and watch some TV. Morning gym class and usually some stuff in the gym after followed by the spa.

Home and lunch. Take dog out with my partner. Sometimes do some cleaning or chill on sofa, potter about house. Sometimes visit family. Something lovely for dinner.

Loopylalalou · 25/01/2026 12:19

Today I’ve done a load of washing, put that in the tumble dryer, put the recycling out, washed up, dried up and squirted around the bathroom. Since then been sat on the sofa ignoring everything else which husband watches Traitors Ireland, now off to clean his shotguns. As the first day of anything like a rest for literally months we’re loving it!

Bubble567 · 25/01/2026 12:31

It depends on the weather, not a fan of the rain or cold so we're quite happy staying at home if its bad weather, we all have a nice lie in, may do a cooked breakfast or a nice lunch, get the kids out if they need a run around but they are generally happy at home now they are a bit older, or we go to the cinema. In the summer we are rarely home, we have a caravan so are often away exploring, or out on the paddle boards or in a pub garden. We are definitely fair weather people, hybernate in the winter, never home in the summer!

TreeDudette · 25/01/2026 12:33

This morning I took dog for a long walk, have chatted with my teen, now eating a more elaborate than usual lunch. Might read or pop to my mums for coffee in a bit. Will make a nice tea. Nothing exciting but I love it!

Vitriolinsanity · 25/01/2026 12:37

The Tip Run!

BiscuitsCheeseBiscuits · 25/01/2026 12:51

Get up and strip the bed straight away so I HAVE to make it again. Otherwise later on I'd think fuck it.

Then go out for a long run in the morning. Either by myself or with friends. Some weeks I am at a race. Then its a coffee and a catch up after with running friends.

Then a bit of housework (including remaking the bed) / washing (there's 5 of us at home so the washing machine is on everyday) and a nice hot bath before tea.

Then its just chilling and often it's the only day I come on MN. My youngest is 15 now so childcare is less of an issue and everyone has their own lives.

Get depressed sunday should just be like any other day. Restricted by arcane laws.

What is it you want to do that you can’t do because of arcane laws.

MakeMineAMilkyTea · 25/01/2026 12:56

Pjs till mid morning, cups of tea and a book on the sofa maybe with the fire on. Shower mid morning. Something tasty for lunch and then a game of the teenager will oblige. If not something naff on the tv and pottering.

Stratego is a good board game

AllIdoistidyup · 25/01/2026 12:57

Rugby for DS in the morning, coffee and a spruce up of the house. Sometimes DH or I will go to the cinema. We often watch a family film in the afternoon, cook something nice from scratch and then watch NFL or something else after DS is in bed.

I go for a run if I haven't done it on Saturday.

StrawberrySquash · 25/01/2026 12:58

Go to the gym, volunteer at junior parkrun, meet friends for brunch, go to the garden centre, go shopping in London.

clippycloppies · 25/01/2026 12:58

Empty nesters here too. We drink tea in bed with the Sunday Times until about 11. Then we have a lovely breakfast - full English, smoked salmon, kedgeree etc. Then we go to the gym and swimming. Of sometimes to the beach with a flask. Then we potter around a bit then have a roast with proper pudding and wine. My only wine and pudding of the week. Then we watch telly, at the moment Antiques Roadshow, call the midwife, and The Night Manager. Might play scrabble too! All dreary middle aged stuff but I’m happy 😆
