....to think that Mark Carney is now the hottest man on the planet?

Wow, that speech at Davos had me stirred in all kinds of ways 😳. Granted, it was long and I thought he was going to end it with " and remember, to always wear sunscreen ", but he socked it to Trump! When he mentioned making pathways with the EU, I hope he includes our little United Kingdom in that. Faithful remainer here 50f.

The Prime Minister of Canada? Do you need your eyes testing?

OfficerChurlish · 23/01/2026 07:51

This is giving me flashbacks to the poster who wrote about experiencing "fanny gallops" when hearing Rishi Sunak speak. Sometimes with politicians, though, proximity to other politicians can make a less-awful one seem appealing just by subconscious comparison.

I felt a slightly worrying stirring when I saw Macron in his aviators. Normal service resumed once they were off again though.

EasternEcho · 23/01/2026 07:56

His intellect, grasp of politics, and speeches are compelling, especially given the calibre of today's politicians. His looks, not so much.

Girasoli · 23/01/2026 07:59

gillefc82 · 23/01/2026 07:59

He’s obviously an intelligent and well informed man and gets extra credit from me for being an Evertonian, but I can’t honestly say his looks do anything for me.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 23/01/2026 08:01

Physically, no, but his intelligence is attractive.

BlueJuniper94 · 23/01/2026 08:04

Women fancy powerful high status men, nothing unusual

Mummyratbag · 23/01/2026 08:06

I hear you OP. I do have a thing for strong politicians who generally feel like they are a force for good. See also - Donald Tusk (TUSK people not Trump) brooding around as a youth fighting and then head of the EU. Helps that they are both Remainers.
A therapist would have a field day with me 😂
I'll get my coat.

TamarindCottage · 23/01/2026 08:09

FYI I saw him once, walking along Cheapside when he was Governor of the Bank of England. He is about 5’6”, if that

ChocolateCinderToffee · 23/01/2026 08:10

taken you too long, OP! I’ve had my eye on him for a while.

And?

FestiveDiscoBall · 23/01/2026 08:18

I get it, I have a lot of time for Mark Carney... And surely anyone can agree he is in a different league to Rishi Sunak!

LizzieSiddal · 23/01/2026 08:20

Oh yes, it’s not all about looks it’s his intellect and morals that do it for me.

I’ve thought it since he was head of the BOE so I’m first in line.

Not much he can do about that, is there. If someone finds a guy hot it's irrelevant.

zurigo · 23/01/2026 08:24

I had a crush on him when he was governor or the Bank of England and I agree about Donald Tusk too. I've always had a thing for intelligent, well-informed and eloquent men 😁

Who cares about his height? He has such strength of character. This is why some women end up with dickheads - they chase tall men at all cost. Give me a clever, wise, smart as hell man any day. I couldn’t care if he’s 2’4”. We’re all the same height lying down 😉

Honestly the sexiest thing in the world to me is a man who doesnt conform to what other people might consider markers of 'masculinity' and doesnt give a flying fuck about it, so absolutely fine by me!

FOJN · 23/01/2026 08:49

It's depressing how many people are swayed by an articulate man in a smart suit. Revolutionaries intent on upsetting the status quo don't get invited to speak at Davos.
Mark Carney is part of the establishment which used the "rules based international order" as a cudgel when it was convenient and useful to do so. He's only admitting its an illusion because the hypocrisy of western powers is plain to see. His apparent honesty is a variation of a "limited hangout".

It was a good speech and I would be impressed if he was sincere but I suspect he's full of shit just like Obama and Blair who were both persuasive public speakers.

Hit me up! It will help if you're blind as well...

Giddykiddy · 23/01/2026 08:53

I met him when he was head of BoE - good looking but v short

LittleBearPad · 23/01/2026 08:55

Intelligence is attractive.

Dolamroth · 23/01/2026 08:58

I probably would. Also Macron.

ValidPistachio · 23/01/2026 08:58

RottenBanana · 23/01/2026 08:12

And?

It's the usual MN double standard. Woman finds shortness in a man unattractive: legitimate turn-off. Man expresses preference for women with larger breasts or long legs: shallow, disgusting perversion.
