....to think that Mark Carney is now the hottest man on the planet?

Wow, that speech at Davos had me stirred in all kinds of ways 😳. Granted, it was long and I thought he was going to end it with " and remember, to always wear sunscreen ", but he socked it to Trump! When he mentioned making pathways with the EU, I hope he includes our little United Kingdom in that. Faithful remainer here 50f.

As speeches go I was pretty impressed with Alexander Stubbs the Swedish president at Davos.

Physically, no, but his intelligence is attractive.

Yes, this! Marvelous to hear someone slap the face of the🍊🤡 with such subtle eloquence. Didn't even name names, BUT WE ALL KNEW. Classy.

He’s obviously an intelligent and well informed man and gets extra credit from me for being an Evertonian, but I can’t honestly say his looks do anything for me.

Did you watch his speech though? I was like you at the start but by the end I was finding him very attractive too!

You might be interested in recent speeches from the mayor of Minneapolis OP!

They'd all have to be after the watershed...

InveterateWineDrinker · 23/01/2026 12:22

What was interesting about Mark Carney's speech at Davos was not just that he offered a fascinating insight into the current situation, with solutions, but that he wrote the speech himself. That's almost unheard of.

I sometimes wonder if we had the honour this week of seeing the emergence of a new Leader of the Free World who did not claim that position merely by virtue of occupying the Oval Office, but on their own merit.

CandiedPrincess · 23/01/2026 12:23

My friend worked with him at the Bank of England, a few years back and said he was really charismatic.

I felt a slightly worrying stirring when I saw Macron in his aviators. Normal service resumed once they were off again though.

🙋🏽‍♀️ same.

You've misunderstood the thread. My OP was about MC only and how I was 'moved' by his speech, not other politicians. Although, I appear to have opened a can of worms for a lot of other women to express their lustiness...AFAIK this is not a degradation of any of our morals....yet!.....Just waiting for the professionally peeved to come along and say that it's one rule for men and one rule for women.

Ah sorry.
At least I'm not the only one who misunderstood when you described MC as 'the hottest man on the planet'. Lots of us thought you were talking sexually OP not metaphorically 🙂

LovePoppy · 23/01/2026 12:28

MC is hot because he’s a smart, sensible adult. He is, however, absolutely a conservative in liberals clothing. Which quite honestly is what we in Canada need at the moment. Best of all worlds. Yay social programs

BlueJuniper94 · 23/01/2026 12:45

Mind blowing hearing the leader of Tranada invoking Vaclav Havel

Thepeopleversuswork · 23/01/2026 12:47

Honestly I would shag anyone who stands up to Trump and does it eloquently.

upstairsdownstairscardboardbox · 23/01/2026 12:48

Fuck no. Have you seen Michael B Jordan? maybe get your eyes tested? 😂

ladyamy · 23/01/2026 13:11

I thought you’d written Paul McCartney at first, and my answer would be yes!

Love his intelligence and grasp of finance especially when you look south of the border.

I'm trying to work out of this is a euphemism 🤣

thenightsky · 23/01/2026 14:39

I first spotted Mark Carney years ago when he was Gov of Bank of England. He was on the news and I did a double take. He has a twinkle in his expressive eyes too.

Remainsamystery344 · 23/01/2026 14:44

I’m with you wholeheartedly op! YANBU! 😆

Mummyratbag · 23/01/2026 08:06

I hear you OP. I do have a thing for strong politicians who generally feel like they are a force for good. See also - Donald Tusk (TUSK people not Trump) brooding around as a youth fighting and then head of the EU. Helps that they are both Remainers.
A therapist would have a field day with me 😂
I'll get my coat.

A strong therapist that is a force for good?

It looks like he was wearing not just aviators, but a full groucho set with a fake nose as well. Watch the video again and tell me you don't see it.

user1471538283 · 23/01/2026 15:35

Oh I agree OP. I love an intelligent man. I love men that are geeky as well. And if they wear glasses, well ...

It's not about looks for me most of the time.

beguilingeyes · 24/01/2026 10:40

I loved that short film he did recently with Mike Myers too.

gegs73 · 19/02/2026 09:20

I somehow came across markcarneythirst on instagram. That’s 5 minutes of my life I’m not getting back. Spent that time cackling away 😁
