Women and anyone with a cervix is written in my weekly magazine. What absolute rubbish is this? It gives me the rage.

Ok great, it said 'women and people with a cervix' so you weren't misgendered. Others were included beyond just you.

A person with a cervix is a woman so yes that is misgendering.

I cannot believe how petty and spiteful this is.

No it isn't.

This is all part of an ideology that really harms women.

Both by claiming that some men are women and the harms that has on women having single sex spaces invaded by men who claim to be women and the poor young women who have been led to believe that not conforming to gendered stereotypes somehow makes them men!

I feel deeply sorry for the young girls who have damaged their bodies as a result of this. Pandering delusions in this way is deeply harmful to them.

BundleBoogie · 22/01/2026 20:07

YANBU- it’s quite offensive.

Well done. You must be very proud of your tolerance of others beliefs and behaviour…..

No really. I think it's a standard of behaviour and nothing particularly extraordinary to be proud of.
I am quite pleased though that I don't let things which are completely irrelevant to me ruin my day.

Cows, ewes, monkeys and giraffes all have cervixes. Also female pandas.

Some people value scientific fact and accuracy of language.

Some, it would seem, do not.

I know where I stand.

I’m sorry I was being facetious because I don’t believe you are tolerant of others beliefs or concerns at all.

That's OK. I picked up on your sarcasm and you are perfectly entitled to your beliefs. You can't offend me by what you think of me because you are a complete stranger who doesn't know me from Adam.

Some people should perhaps stop being so bloody tribal. Trans people have been around since humankind happened.

Gender non conforming people have always been around, yes.

That doesn't mean men have cervixes.

They weren’t called the gender they adopted but had their own designation.

Who would have an issue with “Winkte” (Lakota) - “men who live as women/ want to be like women”?

That’s fine, they’re not women though.

My boyfriend has a cervix. He’s a trans man.

They are including trans men. This is a good thing.

I agree, I can't get worked up over trans men being included as well - I mean, they literally say women as well in the post so we're both included.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 22/01/2026 23:33

Can’t see why that would upset anyone or do anyone any harm. If it makes trans men feel included then that’s fine by me.

Jumpingthruhoops · 23/01/2026 02:22

Sparklybutold · 22/01/2026 17:26

There are many instances where sex based language is important. Even your partner should know this as she/he will have important issues related to her/his biological reality. If his whole concept of self is anchored on social reality he will always struggle.

This! It's always seem odd to me how transmen don't wish to acknowledge their 'womanhood'... but when it comes to medical procedure, they want society to acknowledge their 'womanhood' and that they 'have a cervix'. If they know that, as a biological woman, they have a cervix, presumably they know that, in that instance, they are being referred to, regardless of how they appear on the outside!?

Namelessnelly · 23/01/2026 05:20

Cyclebabble · 22/01/2026 18:26

Seems okay to me? Mostly it will be women who have a cervix but a small number of trans men might also. I think the language is fine so long as it states women first.

But that language supposes that all women are female. In their bid to be inclusive, they are either going to get a lot of males claiming trans identity rocking up, as they believe they are women, or they are being transphobic and stating all women are female. That is where this mangling of language gets us.

Namelessnelly · 23/01/2026 05:22

Gilead · 22/01/2026 21:55

How do you know? Do you have proof of Neanderthal trans people? Do please share. That would be very interesting I think? As they were all naked or wrapped in furs, was it the way they wrapped their fur that showed their gender or something different?

Jumpingthruhoops · 23/01/2026 07:26

Tadpolesinponds · 22/01/2026 17:56

Are you telling us that your partner doesn't realise that she's female? Does she worry about getting prostate cancer, for instance? Of course she doesn't. She knows that if something medical talks about women, it means her. That's because you can't change sex.

Exactly. The word women is perfectly 'inclusive' as it 'includes' ALL those who, biologically, have a cervix.
How they might 'identify' outside of that is really neither here nor there...

Jumpingthruhoops · 23/01/2026 07:37

PatchouliPrincess · 22/01/2026 18:07

Why can't they use 'biological women' if they want to be inclusive.

Because everyone is 'biological' apparently.
(Yup, literally, a real conversation I had with someone once 🤯)

EarthlyNightshade · 23/01/2026 08:37

TheignT · 22/01/2026 18:23

No not just women, women with a cervix. I'm still a woman but I don't have a cervix.

Yes, sorry, I agree with this. Presuming the context was cervix related.

TheignT · 23/01/2026 10:26

lifeturnsonadime · 22/01/2026 18:37

One of the problems with that is women for whom English is not the first language may not understand that applies to them and also women with low cognitive ability may not know it applies to them either.

The word woman is universally understood and changing the messaging in the way you suggest could mean that minority groups miss out on important health screening.

Most people who are offended by the use of the word woman used in this context are genderists. Trans men know they are woman and should seek out the appropriate healthcare.

It is the most accurate though. I don't feel offended at the use of women but the fact is we don't all have a cervix.

Because someone with a cervix - believe it or not - is a woman.

I'm a woman. I don't have a cervix. In your eyes, does that make me not a woman?
