To not get the Traitors

I'm listening to Scott Mills who has Harriet Tyce on. I know her primarily as an author. They're going on about it as if it's Operation Mincemeat. It's a telly game show not life or death.

I have watched it a few years ago and am not fussy. It's just another vehicle for people to be famous I guess.

Yep, I have enjoyed all the other seasons, but this one has felt a bit rigged. I think most people predicted that Rachel would get the shield in the 'box of chance thing'. And then no one hardly put down Faraaz the whole way through, and then suddenly at the end people are voting for him.

Plus Rachel was just bloody annoying, super smug and manipulative - which I know is partly just being a traitor, but she took it to the extreme. I was happy Stephen won though, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

@Bushmillsbabe.....I agree. Couldn't stand Rachel 🤣

Did you find that the celebrity traitors started you on the slide? I didn't enjoy it at al. Mainly because the Faithtful were ABSOLUTELY SHYTE, I figured they were shyte because they all knew each other so well and (,for example) Alan Carr couldn't have been a Traitor because hes so adorably cheeky (🤢)

That was not the point of the thread. I don't understand the obsession with it on other TV and radio shows. I get that some people like it and some don't but it feels like we're being ordered to invest by the coverage. Last night's news feeds saying Rachel is going to be a megastar sort of proves the other point I was making.

It's hitting 11 million viewers, something even Strictly or I'm a Celeb don't manage. So it's something of interest to around 1 in 5 adults in the UK. That makes it an obvious choice for an entertainment segment.
Claudia's wardrobe gets discussed loads so it makes for an obvious fashion segment on something like This Morning.
It's an interesting way to view human behaviour so it triggers discussions about unconscious bias and group think behaviour.

Her hair is weird, it looks like its made from wood. Her face, also, wood stain colour. That fringe is extreme. She looks like a cross between Donatella Versace and British Spain pensioner. In a wig.

I always think she looks like she dressed up for Halloween years ago and never fully got out of costume.

I saw it once. I have no desire to watch it again.

Anyone who thinks you're unreasonable for not liking the traitors can't be very bright. It's not a moral obligation to watch it.

Nobody has actually said that though have they?

CoastalCalm · 24/01/2026 13:54

I’d like them to do a version where the viewers don’t know who the traitors are either

I suspect they trialled fhat and it was less interesting, as you lose so much of the scheming, you loss when they know it’s right or if it’s wrong etc. the secret traitor was a good compromise I think

Yep, I liked the secret traitor thing. Although it was obvious from the start who it was, DH and I had it narrowed down to 2 from the start.

68% of voters in the poll think the OP is being unreasonable.

But the question wasn’t whether she was unreasonable for not liking it and at no point has anyone suggested she has a moral obligation to watch it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Clarabell77 · 24/01/2026 15:43

Watched the first episode of the first series and couldn’t even finish it. Thought all the contestants were just annoying wannabes and the full thing bored me.

ConnieHeart · 24/01/2026 15:47

Are we only supposed to watch shows that are life or death then?

Snowdropsaremyfavourite · 24/01/2026 15:54

I love it! I love Stephen and I hope he gets a presenting job on the back of it. He's very likeable, so easy to watch and I find his facial expressions hilarious. I'd love to see him and Alan Carr presenting something together, that would be TV gold!

Perhaps give Radio 4 a go OP, I don’t think bbc 1 or radio 2 is suitable for someone as intelligent and cultured as you are

Miaow! I was introduced to Traitors in Series 2 by my grandson, have now watched them all and love it and my car Radio only picks up Radio 4, or so I tell people, what does that make me in your spiteful opinions?

Well, the point of Strictly is to teach ballroom dancing to novice dancers and then assess them and ascertain which is the best dancer and has made the best progress. (Disclaimer - I'm aware that many of the novice dancers have prior experience of dancing).

The point of Great British Bake Off is to set a series of challenges to amateur bakers and then assess them and ascertain which is the best baker.

There isn't really much point to The Traitors. The participants don't learn any skills. It's more about luck than anything else. By the way, if other people enjoy the programme, that's great. Each to their own and all that. It's just that I probably won't bother watching it again.

I'm trying to think of the point of Love Island. Mmmm....... I might have to come back to you on that one.

One point of The Traitors is for someone to win.
Other points are watching everyone’s behaviour and the psychology of it. And shouting at the telly when you think it’s obvious who’s a traitor and are frustrated at the faithfuls not figuring it out. And being excited when they DO start figuring it out. And gasping when a traitor double-crosses another traitor, or you think they’re going to. And watching the herd mentality kick in at the round table.
And cheering people on/laughing at them in the missions.
And Claudia’s wardrobe, and the scenery, and the general mix of genuine peril and warm camp.
And discussing it on here/with friends and family/at work.

Watching people learn new skills isn’t the only thing that has a point.
