My doctor was late to my appointment because he had been at the local country hotel full of asylum seekers...

When was the last time you had a home visit? Is this a way of managing the " problem" by them taking clinics there? Is it a way of hiding this issue? I understood they did not have access to the NHS yet I see massive bags of medicine labelled for this hotel too at the dispensary. We wait about 6-7 weeks for a routine appointment.

Maybe don't book any more appointments. That'll teach them. And don't leave your house because of the state of this great nation. That'll show them. And unplug your WiFi as well. Absolutely disgusting.

@Nevermind17 Have you seen the journeys that asylum seekers make to get here?

Is it more dangerous or less dangerous than the countries they are coming from?

Irrelevant. It’s sensible to do something more dangerous to end up somewhere much safer.

So why aren't women doing it?

Who knows? They don’t know, until they do it. If tensions are rising against your particular group/sect, and you know the authorities will be coming for you at some point, what do you do?

Do you go immediately? At that point, it might be more risky to cross the med in a dinghy and cross the Alps on foot. But if you wait until you hear your neighbours are being dragged from their beds at night and murdered, it might be too late.

Also bear in mind that women are usually seen as less of a threat to authoritarian regimes than men, so are probably safer. But without a husband to support them they wouldn’t be able to make ends meet long-term.

So at what point do the scales tip? All they know is that if they reach safety, there is a good chance of a life afterwards. If they stay, there’s little or no hope.

The question is why is an NHS doctor out doing home visits at this place when NHS funds are not supposed to be used?

Can I ask why NHS funds are not supposed to be used for asylum seekers? My understanding is that the health needs of asylum seekers are met by the NHS

i have no issues with the NHS treating the migrant families the women and children but we need to send the young male illegals back to whence they came from..they bring nothing to this country... just take...My hubby pays £79 a week in national insurance contributions, and our child has to go private to see a fecking dentist and they get it free...i grudge this immensly

What?

We’re talking about illegal immigrants. Very few of them are asylum seekers. They are just lucky that England is absolutely shit at processing them.

However, I’m happy that they have the service. There are genuine asylum seekers there. Plus with where they live illness would spread through these places.

Yes and the government has a legal duty. I prefer to treat people as I expect to be treated. As a woman, I don't feel safe amongst these groups of men and I will neither apologise nor make justifications.

'These groups of men'?????

What part of that do you struggle with? That's the mainstream influx of asylum seekers.

I echo your heartfelt sentiment and would suggest that not only should OP fuck off but they should, in fact, fuck off to the far side of fuck and when they arrive at this location, they should fuck off some more.

You misread my comment.

"Asylum" means a place of refuge.
An asylum seeker is someone who wants to move from a dangerous place to a less dangerous place.

If the channel crossing is MORE dangerous than the place where they live, then by definition, they are not seeking a safe place.

If they wanted a safe place, then they wouldn't go to the English channel... unless the English channel is safer than where they live.

Would you cross the channel by yourself in a small boat, if it meant you could bring your kids safely out of a war zone ...if you reach the other side alive?

scorpiogirly · 17/01/2026 21:48

Absolutely fucking mind blowing. Boils my piss!

Of course you'll get the bleeding heart liberals pleading their case here. But you cannot defend this when the NHS is on it's knees and we can't even treat the people who have paid in all their lives.

Sickening.

Sickening to offer basic healthcare to sick people?

My sister actually voted for Brexit because some idiot told her that all Romanians were given £1000 a week each, and she believed them.

Still think some sort of badge, identifying how long your family had been in the country, with a digital ticket indicating your personal tax contribution would resolve this to the OP’s satisfaction

We do treat people who've paid in all their lives, as I suspect you know.
The amount of asylum seekers in the UK is tiny, and the cost of a GP spending an hour or two treating them is probably less than the NHS wasted yesterday when people accidentally printed an extra page.

It's a bit sad that people are so ready to believe this stuff, and it stops us voting for things that would actually improve the NHS, when politicians see we just want knee jerk bullshit answers (hi Boris) that change nothing.

You’re reaching. If bombs are being dropped, or an army is opening fire on a crowd, then everyone is at risk.

Where a government is targeting individuals for their political allegiance, it would be the men who are most at risk in a society where women are largely invisible.

Bollocks. The NHS is on its knees because of mismanagement, decades of governmental failures and end users who do not take care of their health.

Smoking, alcohol, obesity and lack of exercise cost the health service a damn sight more than immigrants do. I suspect every single one of us could take steps to improve our health and that of the people we care for.

Because the men in their lives know that their journey will be dangerous, and don't want to put their wives and children at that risk. So they try to get to safety via the dangerous way (the only way open to to them at that point) , claim asylum (and remember that the vast majority do so in neighbouring countries or mainland Europe) and then arrange for their families to join them safely.

You, at least, will be glad to hear that the UK government is planning to put an end to their families being allowed to join them.

Back to the OP, it's so very hard to give credence to someone who just pops up for their thread. Anyone would think they were just a goady bot.

Weak-kneed name changer, first time poster, always dubious.
