To ask how to make fish fingers more exciting?

I make fish finger sandwiches (butter, ketchup, vinegar, tiny mayo).
I'm sure there must be better ways of eating them, does anyone have an amazing recipe to share?

I was thinking fish finger tacos with corn mini tortillas, inspired from tempura fish tacos I had in Margate once.

Crunchy peanut butter on one slice of bread, salad cream on the other. White bread. Four cod fish fingers. Perfection.

I like a fish finger filled pitta with garlic mayo, finely sliced red onion and rocket.

But let’s face it, they taste best on thick white bread, real butter and tomato sauce.

Grilled Fish fingers and crispy bacon in a wrap with coleslaw, lettuce, a blob ofsalsa and maybe a couple of slices of jalapeno.. ..One of our favourite dinners.. .. Don't knock it until you've tried it ..

Fish tacos - scampi is also really good for this!

TTCbabynumber22025 · 15/01/2026 21:17

I like mine with rice with some stir fried veg in oyster and soy sauce

I have perfected my fish finger butty game as they are dd1's favourite.

Bread cake, lightly toasted. Either tartare sauce or mayo on top and bottom. Shredded iceberg and thinly sliced red onions. Then 3 or 4 fish fingers, depending on the size of the bread cake. And a plastic cheese slice. So good.

A wrap.
Slather with satay sauce.
Stick in some raw spinach and other salady bits of choice.
Whack your cooked fish fingers in.
Roll.

It's SO tasty. Also works with fish or chicken goujon things.

Now I’ve bought all the stuff for this!!

Ketchup on one slice of bread. Tartare sauce on the other, enough that it can hold fresh peas on the surface. Whisper of white pepper. Exceptional.

Starbri8 · 15/01/2026 21:28

Mix 2 table spoons of sour cream with one tablespoon of Spoon of mayo , add 2 cloves of crushed garlic , chopped dill, lemon zest, a little salt and pepper, lush on fish finger sandwich or as a dip for fish dippers.

Floogal · 15/01/2026 21:36

Tartare sauce if course. Perhaps with tomato ketchup

ThePinkPineapple · 15/01/2026 21:38

Slice of cheese plus chilli jab and a bit of lettuce

MsSmartShoes · 15/01/2026 21:39

Nigella has a fishfinger recipe. She mashed them up I think?

MrsLizzieDarcy · 15/01/2026 21:40

We have them in wraps - filled with salad, tartare sauce, and M & S jumbo fish fingers. Food of the Gods.

Winter42 · 15/01/2026 21:43

I like rocket on them.

Mariets · 15/01/2026 21:47

What's the thing with fish fingers? I think they're horrible.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 15/01/2026 21:47

I like to add a fried or poached egg to my fish finger sandwich 🤤

Chipbuttyandgravy · 15/01/2026 21:49

Myfridgeiscool · 15/01/2026 21:51

Fish fingers with coleslaw and rocket, soft white thick bloomer bread with seeds on top.
perfect.

Backhometothenorth · 15/01/2026 21:55

You need sliced black olives, rocket and chili oil

Lobsterfreedom · 15/01/2026 21:57

With baked potato and mushy peas

On top of a veg and noodle stir fry with sweet chilli and soy sauces.

Catladywithoutacat · 16/01/2026 01:54

Yuk putting vinegar in it.
I use chilli sauce usually and something that burger cheese

TheChristieAffair · 16/01/2026 02:00

Tacos with fish fingers, mushy peas and tartare sauce are a staple here

SaffaIrish · 16/01/2026 02:14

Fish tacos. Airfry the fish fingers and have them in a wrap with salad and ‘yum yum sauce’ (mix of hot sauce and mayo.) I saw it on TikTok once and my family loves them.

@hyco Spicy Spinach:
Desired quantity of frozen spinach, I use the stuff that comes seasoned with onion that can be measured into helpings from the packet, not sure if this is available in the UK. You can use fresh, but the results won't be quite the same.
I measure about 120g for me.
In a microwaveable dish, add the following:
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1tsp. fennel seeds
Chilli seeds to taste
1tsp. turmeric
1tsp. curry powder/ garam masala
1 tsp. fenugreek seeds
Your spinach
Splash of stock, stir to mix
Cover and microwave on high for 2 minutes
Stir and add more stock as required, I like a not quite sloppy texture
Microwave for a further 3 minutes, stir well and leave to rest for 1 minute

This is the basic, but I usually do it by eye.
If using fresh spinach, start with you stock, add the spices and a knob of butter, then add your spinach and wilt, stirring to mix everything as the spinach wilts diwn.
