Baby on bus eating pizza!

Netcurtainnelly · 11/01/2026 21:38

Would you leave your baby in pushchair eating pizza?

Baby was definitely not walking yet and eating a piece of pizza on their own, lay back abit not even upright in the pushchair!😱

AIBU to think the base of a pizza isn't suitable for a baby, let alone eating without someone really watching over them.😕

DD2’s first food was pizza (unintentional, she nicked it from her sister. But still, it wasn’t something I worried about). Both kids have very regularly eaten on busses.

All perfectly normal I think….?

Barnbrack · 11/01/2026 21:56

If the child was holding pizza, bringing it to their mouth. Chewing and swallowing the pizza then they were at the very least 6 months probably closer to a year. I used to make homemade pizza for mine when baby led weaning form 6 months with pitta bread topped with homemade tomato and veg sauce and cheese melted on top. Or similarly little pastry pin wheels. From 6 months. Yes they should sit upright and takeaway pizza is probably very high salt to have regularly but as a now and again? Not an issue

Goodness no, mine were only tolerated on buses if sitting quietly bolt upright, ankles crossed under seat and hands neatly on their lap at all times.

MyCatLovesCardboard · 11/01/2026 21:58

Did they have garlic bread too?

Funnywonder · 11/01/2026 21:58

Was it a newborn? If so, I’m very impressed.

Probably drinking 'full fat' coke with their extra large Pitbull. 😰

(Obv I'm joking)

vodkaredbullgirl · 11/01/2026 22:00

Iru bru be better

Sanasaaa · 11/01/2026 22:00

I really want a pizza now.

hohahagogo · 11/01/2026 22:00

My dc were tiny for their age and didn’t grow much hair until 2 consequently when they ran (early walkers both of them) everyone commented on the “baby running” when it was within normal age. At 2 years old strapped into their pushchair you may have thought they were babies rather than active toddlers

Cocomelon67 · 11/01/2026 22:00

Lol

FurForksSake · 11/01/2026 22:00

Do buses run on a Sunday? I’m afraid my children have never been on a public bus.

HoseGoblin · 11/01/2026 22:03

Not without a can of Moretti to wash it down.

SlyFix · 11/01/2026 22:04

Thedogscollar · 11/01/2026 21:52

Probably up the back of the bus snogging. Poor baby.

Why are you describing me circa 1988??

Have you been watching me?

Croakymccroakyvoice · 11/01/2026 22:05

A baby being fed, food?!

😱

🤣

SharpBrickMaker · 11/01/2026 22:06

This reminds me when my dd was a few weeks old and I witnessed a mum in Sainsbury's pushing a double buggy with a baby in a carrier dishing out milky ways to the toddlers in the buggy and the small child holding the buggy. I judged her, too. I also said to myself that would never be me. kids later wiped that smug look of my face, believe me 😆

Needmorelego · 11/01/2026 21:45

It's essentially a bit of bread?

Edited

Yes but it’s full of sugar. One of the worst foods in terms of that. Ask anyone with diabetes if they eat fast food pizza - their sugars will still be high the next day.

ACatNamedRobin · 11/01/2026 22:07

Why do people call toddlers - not infants - babies?
Baby used to mean infant - I've seen it changed over the last few years...

Applepe · 11/01/2026 22:07

FionnulaTheCooler · 11/01/2026 21:46

Shocking. Everyone knows a Greggs sausage roll is the best way to keep your child quiet on the bus.

Salford dummy.

BillieWiper · 11/01/2026 22:07

How can you tell they were incapable of walking? They didn't look like they were in distress or struggling to chew or breathe did they? You really can't tell their exact age. And the mum gave them the pizza so must have either known it was ok and or be watching just in case. It's no different to toast?

WhereIsMyLight · 11/01/2026 22:07

Did you see the other meals the baby has eaten that day, that week? If you were so concerned, did you make conversation with the parent or guardian? Not to criticise but maybe just to check in, you having a non-judgemental chat could have really helped if they were feeling overwhelmed and could only grab a slice of dominos for their kid?

I gave my 9 month old an egg mayo white roll in their buggy. Was it in the weaning guidelines? Not really but I’d gone out and forgotten any food that was in the weaning guidelines. I was somewhere without access to a proper shop and I thought it was the best option in the cafe where we were. The buggy wasn’t fully upright because I was in a flap about driving somewhere an hour away from home and forgetting their food. At lunchtime. I’d only tried tiny amounts of egg at this point and if we’re not near a shop, we’re definitely not near a hospital if they did have an egg allergy. Is it my proudest moment as a parent that I went out and forgot my kids food? No. But I fed my kid, the buggy needed a deep clean after and it was a better alternative than having a hungry child.

SlyFix · 11/01/2026 22:08

My mum always proudly proclaimed that she “never travelled on a bus”. She would also ask things like

“have they got 4 wheels?”

Netcurtainnelly · 11/01/2026 22:08

FuzzyWolf · 11/01/2026 21:48

You can make some very healthy homemade pizzas for children and an infant who is not walking covers quite a varied age. They could be three.

No sorry definitely not three.
