RedToothBrush Sorry, but what about it seems like a trick question?
You said "If you're still on X are you ok with what Grok's been doing"
Cos anyone is going to say 'oh yeah I'm fine with it'!
Instead the thread is set up as a judgement to slag off anyone daring to go against the blue sky noble warriors and dare to still be on Twitter as you are morally repugnant if you stay. Fuck off with that claptrap and judgment by association making.
It's not about trying to address the issue at hand which is tackling AI created porn across the board. Grok is in the wrong but fuck me it's not a problem restricted to Grok. There's a documentary on iPlayer about the subject that's be on there for a while about this. People aren't paying attention to this and have only woken up. Let's face it because it's Elon's tool suddenly 'ooo we've got some ammunition to throw around' every bit as much because there's a wider issue with AI porn. That's not cool. Whose been paying attention properly and who is just getting the Elon boot in?
Honestly all of the major social media platforms have some pretty bloody awful flaws and it's not about saying ooo well that's massively worse and it being about picking your poison to virtue signal your political beliefs rather than identify and fix issues. And there's a number of AI tools that are widely available that pose the same problem. Ironically it being Grok, has suddenly focused minds (which is a good btw as it is likely to led to issues elsewhere as well as on Grok being dealt with quicker than they otherwise would) - not primarily because individuals were concerned about the actual problem at hand but because they hate Musk. This is what frustrates me - this idea that if you are on twitter you are automatically a weirdo Musk devotee or sympathiser in some simplistic drivel of a narrative rather than having much more complex view of things.
Personally I want to see a range of professional journalistic sources and to hear voices I don't remotely agre wee with on principle because this means I'm better informed about what people are saying and where they are coming from. It helps me form better arguments and counter arguments on my own terms. You have to be able to deal with views and opinions you don't like by means other than just saying 'you are the enemy'. It's very much a case of understanding not only your own side and that makes for better political debate across the board which is fundamental to democratic integrity and actually tackling some of the bullshit including sexual harassment on all social media platforms and in all forms.
This whole idea of 'better', loses sight of understanding what is driving things and tackling issues at core rather than just shouting 'ban it' at every opportunity. This is a fundamental lack of understanding of the internet and how humans function. I don't believe that bans and boycotts ultimately work because it's just more shouting into the void which produces toxic camps and unfortunately the accompanying tribal backlashes too.
We actually have to talk to people and work together about the actual issue rather than screaming at someone they are a bad person because they haven't deleted twitter yet.
The whole premise of this thread is not "what do we do to tackle AI porn?", it's actually "How dare you support Musk and yet there's some stuff about AI porn too which we don't like". It dilutes the point and actually ends up detracting from the actual problem because everyone ends up talking about how awful Musk is rather than talking about AI porn. There are Musk supporting allies who really don't like it either and people should be trying to reach out to them because in terms of Twitter, Musk is much more interest in these people and keeping them happy because they are his audience. There's common ground here with people 'on the other side' who are much more likely to effect change than a bunch of people who don't like him flouncing off on their moral high horses.
I'm just not fucking interested in this tribal bullshit wherever it's coming from. It's not fucking helpful.
