Young girls, un-consenting women and now this

@eliothiggins.bsky.social‬
Just seen Grok putting the body of the victim of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis into a bikini. Digital corpse desecration now available to the public.

If you curate your personal feed you never have to encounter any of the unpleasantness on X. Different when you just start scrolling through unfiltered content suggested by the Ap itself, wholly different.

I'm not about to stop using a service I enjoy just because some other users can't behave themselves, and as much as I dislike Musk, there could be 100% disengagement and abandonment of X tomorrow and it wouldn't make the blindest bit of difference to his wallet, so it's immaterial as far as I'm concerned.

If you are going to start boycotting web content because some aspect of it is unpalatable, then you really ought to be contacting your ISP to terminate their service and staying off the internet entirely.

Snorlaxo · 09/01/2026 15:38

I hope that you’re boycotting all AI software. Deep fakes have been possible for years now and I suspect that the ones that you pay for could be even worse.

The news about Grok is about attacking Musk really. I’m in no doubt that men have used other AI software to create vile images, distribute them and make money out of the technology.

This site hosted child abuse images in the recent past. What should the repercussions be? Why have you stayed here? There must be an element of you understanding that MN has very little control over what people on the Internet post and the only power that they have is to delete offensive material.

You must also be old enough to be aware that you can’t ban things from the Internet. You can drive it to the shadows but just because you don’t don’t see it, it doesn’t mean that it’s not there. A human came up with the technology. Taking it off X will result in it being hosted elsewhere and human volunteers updating and improving it. The internet can’t be tamed hence we tell our kids to be careful online.

If you are using Windows or Android, you can't boycott it. It's now baked in.

Yep there’s similar on the internet so I take it those chiding others will see themselves off it.

Just be grateful that Donald Trump hasn't been "Grok"d. 😱

how does Grok pornify images?

go on - how does that happen? what is required to take image A (innocent pic of child at first holy communion) to image B (same child but naked)

I'll answer this question in more detail to try to explain the impact of this Grok feature.

The picture is taken by anyone outside the church.
Before little Sarah and Noah are on the bouncy castle images of them stripping and in sexual positions have been created and uploaded to the internet. The same for parents and grandparents.
If the perv is having a lazy day, Grok will offer "prompts" to tailor the images to the user's preferences. Including more extreme images.

This isn't a bug and it isn’t available in most AI. It is a programme developed to instantly pornify and share images and as it is AI, it "learns" this view of the world. It encourages it.

Anyone comparing this to Mnet being invaded by scumbags with child sex abuse images needs to have a word with themselves.

InLoveWithAI · 09/01/2026 15:59

Can I just clarify something important, other AI Image gen do NOT and CANNOT create sexual images, even of adults. The prompts go through many safeguards and guardrails. You cannot use Chatgpt/Gemini to create anything even close to pg13.
That is why all the people who want this shit flocked to grok when they found out you could.

Grok video by default can do 'soft' intimacy, IE passionate kissing, but even that can be moderated.

To get porn, which can be done, you need to prompt engineer, there is a whole Reddit sub, as I mentioned previously, either on this or another thread.

How and why it is so easy for the grok bot to be doing this directly in the X feed, I do not know. But musk could just shut it off. And he still hasn't. My guess, is because his usage shot up when men realised you could get porn through it, and all this publicity. Grok is a joke as far as AI capabilities goes. But this shit gets people flocking to it.

Do I blame the AI? No. Because it isn't sentient, it doesn't know what it is doing. I blame the men doing the prompting, and I blame Musk for continuing to allow it to happen.

Do I think X should be shut down, no. Am I a massive lefty, yes. But I do think Musk needs to nuke this option and give his AI more safety features.

@user4532789 totally understand what you say about the specific incidence of Claude/anthropic for you! Hope the lawsuit is very fruitful for you! And I genuinely mean that. I love AI and it's possibilities but I don't like the companies behind it.

I'd rather not trust you on that, if you don't mind.

Brefugee · 09/01/2026 16:01

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/01/2026 12:44

Through the use of Grok's "Spicy" mode. Where Grok will help you pornofy images, even providing wee prompts to make it better, more extreme, more to the user's taste.

Elon Musk is now the biggest pornographer in the world.

you missed my point. I know how AI works

Grok itself doesn't do anything. Grok needs human input. And who are those humans?

Why would I care if you trust me on that?

The information is out there.

The government doesn't want to ban X, it wants Musk to remove the pornification feature from Grok and X to take down such images when asked.

So many women arguing that men be able to pornify and distribute sexualised images of children and unsuspecting adults at will. WTF has happened to Mumsnet?🤯

you are clearly not reading and inwardly digesting what most of us are saying.

A) we don't want AI to have the ability to do this
but the AI isn't the only problem here so we want
b) men to stop it

Humans who have been given access to a programme designed to instantly pornify anything and upload it onto the Internet.

What is your argument for making this software readily available to anyone? Why do we need it? Its sole function is pornification.

coconutchocolatecream · 09/01/2026 16:09

Haven't RTFT, but I'm on Twitter for news and cute animals, mainly. I haven't seen any of the things referenced in the OP. I guess it depends on which accounts you're following.

I do see things I don't like in the comments or when looking at trending topics, from time to time. (Nothing like bikinis on corpses, but gloating over photos of Charlie Kirk's murder, for example.) Unfortunately, that's just part of the Internet.

It’s easier to berate women on mn for using a platform for contacting a gas supplier or seeing what’s happening in Iran than it is asking men to do anything about it.

Control women, get them on BlueSky is that the aim

X123x321X · 09/01/2026 16:18

I'm on it. I feel it's important to counter misinformation on certain matters when I'm qualified to do so.

Brefugee · 09/01/2026 16:19

I am not arguing that it should be readily available to pervs. It is already, the genie is out of the bottle and has been for a long time.

There are several issues going on here.

The first thing is you shouldn't just waltz in here and tell people they are awful for using X. We know it is a cesspit and that is why those of us who do use it, curate it carefully. It can be used with caution.

In the same way that when i go to a newsagent i don't look at, touch or buy anything off the top shelf (if that still exists?)

AI needs prompts to do anything. So, yes, people invented the AI, and give it the ability to do things, but it takes users to implement those prompts.

All technology has always been driven and moved forward by porn. That has always been the case. Writing, printing, photography, instant communications (telephone sex lines?) the internet etc etc. As long as there are people who want to produce and consume porn, there will be porn.

Not that i have to justify how i use social media to anyone:
I only look at facebook on my laptop. That way i can look at only what my friends have posted (Feeds > friends), and i use it as a diary

I look at bluesky for fluff (We Rate Dogs being one of them) because it is full of insufferable people who think that we should all think the same way. (in fact a lot of it i agree with, some of it i don't - but if i post anything other than identical ideas i get a lot of shit aimed at me)

I don't use Reddit at all because while some of it is perfectly lovely, other parts of it are homophobic misogynistic pits of awfulness

X if you are careful can be fine. I use it for football info and chat, news that i don't get elsewhere and i follow several GC accounts. Also, and this is really important to me: a lot of Anti-FGM accounts, run by African men, are on there. They get amplified. As does the woman normalising periods in Africa, and of course all the accounts highlighting abuses and so on against women in places like Afghanistan.

So you can wail and gnash your teeth all you like, i will continue to use my time and internet in the way i choose.

You can still have those good bits. Its the new pornification feature of Grok that should go.

Brefugee · 09/01/2026 16:37

again, i haven't said it should stay.

I just object to sanctimonious posters painting me as some kind of porn addled fuckwit.

Twitter was great before Musk. Met some good friends on there.
My account is still open but I really only use it to DM companies now if I have a problem with their service.

No I'm not ok with pornography.

No one has painted you a porn addled fuckwit. You are taking criticism of Musk's porn programme and his progression to pornographer very personally.

We know men are the problem. We need not add fuel to the raging fire that is misogyny on the internet. Grok's sexualisation programming needs to go. And sexualised images of unsuspecting women and children should be removed when asked. Not used to generate income.

GalaxyJam · 09/01/2026 17:17

I don’t use X but it is insane that women are being told not to use a platform because men create pornography on it rather than men being told not to create pornography 🤷🏻‍♀️
