Am I the only woman in my mid thirties who has 2 dc and doesn’t have that nagging feeling for another?

I’m 35. Mine are just turned 6 and 2.5, so possibly I’m still in the thick of it all with 2 of them being young, but I know already when they’re a bit older I’m still not going to long for a 3rd. I swear everyone I know says they wish they could have another as it’s their last chance type thing, nope not me! Anyone else?

All my mum friends have been one and done 😂

mindutopia · 06/01/2026 19:14

Dear god no, I’ve only ever wanted two. Definitely wanted two! But as soon as ds was born (at 36), literally 3 minutes later, I was like, right I’m done. Nearly a decade later and I’ve never had a twinge of desire for a third.

Sminty2 · 06/01/2026 19:16

No. I had a ds, then 3 years later a dd. They were perfect and I was done.
I had zero urges for another.

Statsquestion1 · 06/01/2026 19:16

Never for one nanosecond have I considered a third!

MJagain · 06/01/2026 19:17

No chance. I never wanted a third. Two is perfect.

floppybit · 06/01/2026 19:17

No, I think you’re quite typical. Most people have fewer than 3 kids.

FilthyforFirth · 06/01/2026 19:18

I'm 40 with an 8 and 5 yo and also done. Weirdly I wouldnt mind more, but zero desire for a baby/toddler. I'd like lots of adult children when the time comes but alas I am happily sticking at 2.

HS1990 · 06/01/2026 19:19

I'm 35. 2 kids aged 5 and 3. Wouldn't actively try for no. 3 but if it happens then it's meant to be and I will embrace it.

sittingonabeach · 06/01/2026 19:19

Watch out for your hormones in your early 40s and ignore them!

PevenseygirlQQ · 06/01/2026 19:19

I do pang for a 3rd occasionally but when I think about it actually happening it scares the living daylights out of me and I actually think I’d have a breakdown.

I was just about to say this

So many of my friends, sisters, etc, had a 3rd in their late 30s and early 40s

AllIdoistidyup · 06/01/2026 19:21

I didn't even want 2. Early 40s and perimenopausal - the hormones never showed up.

Stompythedinosaur · 06/01/2026 19:23

Nope. I had my second dc at 32 and have never looked back. I knew I was done.

Fizbosshoes · 06/01/2026 19:23

I felt broody when my youngest (of 2) started school, I was 36 - but for various reasons we decided against having baby 3...and I've not regretted it (particularly now a lot of parent finance is needed for uni!)

BeardedBarley · 06/01/2026 19:23

No! My husband was booking his vasectomy as soon as we had number 2. We were done (and I loved every second of my pregnancies and easy births).

2 is perfect.

ChocolateHobbit · 06/01/2026 19:25

I'm mid-late 30s and happy with just one.

Surroundedbyfools · 06/01/2026 19:28

No ur not alone. I have a 2 and 4 year old and got sterilised I’m absolutely done. 2 is plenty. I think social media has a huge part to play in romanticising about wanting more babies and how heart breaking ditching the baby items is….. I’m over here merrily launching high chairs and the like into skips looking forward to not having to wipe arses etc constantly !

user1476613140 · 06/01/2026 19:31

I agree OP, what idiot would want a third! I had four instead🤣🤪

ToKittyornottoKitty · 06/01/2026 19:32

I’d say you are still 5 years from those hormones if you are going to get them, based on youngest still being a toddler and only being 35. Hopefully you escape that feeling all together though!

I think peri and hormone surges can make you broody.

WellMaybeYouShouldntBeLivingHeeeeeeee · 06/01/2026 19:33

Two was ideal for us. Never pined for a third, even as I hit peri and aged out. I’ve just loved having the lovely two we have and feel very lucky 💕

mustreadmorebooks · 06/01/2026 19:38

Absolutely not! I knew if I had DC I wanted two and my exh was booked in for a vasectomy a few weeks after the second was born when I was 30. Have never doubted that decision and they are young adults now.

Garroty · 06/01/2026 19:40

I definitely don't want a third but I wish I could have year one of my second baby again 😭

MisiSam · 06/01/2026 19:42

I have 3 dcs. 6, 4 and 2 months. I didn't get the urge for the 3rd untill my second was closer to 4! I was really 2 and done 😅
