Claire's are going into administration.

Just wondered what happened. Where are the people who shopped in there going instead.

They will be no ear piercing if they've all gone shopping online??

I suppose there are now professional piercing places on every town and village high street. There is no longer a need to go to a teenage shop assistant with a piecing gun? The world has moved on.

Probably to jewellers or tattoo parlours for piercing and plenty of other retailers available to purchase shite fae. Nae need to worry.

Good. People shouldn't get their (or their children's) ears pierced at Claire's. I'd rather fork out a bit extra to get them done professionally than me or my child deal with potential issues for life

Plenty of proper piercing places without having to resort to being butchered at Claire’s!

I went to the chemist to get my ears pierced, as a child.

Claires, I couldn’t shop there because of the various “deals”.
One stand would say “5 items for Fiver” another “10 for Fiver”

I’m sure the staff didn’t even know what stock belonged where… It was just too much hard work to work it all out!

I would go to Tiger for my cheap tat nowadays. And Primark.

I'm not suprised. Their products are expensive for what they are & the shops were a crowded mess. Anyone getting their ears pierced in there is crazy - our local one was filthy

The loss of their ear piercing places is a good thing. Their prominent position on the high street and well known brand allowed their poor piercing technique to be normalised when it shouldn't have been.

It's a shame for people who'll lose their jobs, but if people end up using proper piercers and the trend for fun piercing children's ears ends that will be a long term gain.

Of course, what will happen is that many beauty technicians will take a course and offer the service between 2 eyebrows wax and all the other treatments they provide. What do you think will happen?

I was gobsmacked at their prices last time I went in. When my DD was young I purchased most birthday gifts for school friends from there, but last time I went I left empty handed and headed straight to Primark for the same princess/stitch etc tat at half the price!

People buy all their tat from Shein and Temu now.

Thank God no-one will get their ears butchered there anymore.

I feel sorry for all the staff losing their jobs, and indeed the manufacturers of the various antibiotics required after someone had had their ears stabbed there.

Last time I went there, I thought it was very very overpriced tat - Primark, Temu etc will all take a share of their market.

It's been a long time since places like Claire's have been recommended for ear piercing. People got to tattoo and piercing parlours for that now.

Lovisa do piercings, I've got quite a few piercings and tbf, my lovisa one healed better than the professional shops. You can buy Claire's in Asda and like others, Shein or Primark for jewellery.

I believe all the people who like cheap tat have gone to Temu.

I swear Claire's went into administration last year already. Did they get bailed out? We had MN threads on it then. A year later, they're still just selling overpriced Temu tat with no USP or redeeming features. It's so much more overpriced than the supermarket for the same children's accessories, I can't say I'll miss them.

Back in the day you could have your ears pierced in the jewellers. I had mine done in a large SE London department store
