To wonder what US Trump voters think now

Indiependant · 04/01/2026 08:55

Their country's reputation trashed. The man they voted for heavily implicated in the Epstein scandal. Contempt shown to them abroad.
About to completely shift Ukraine. Enabling Netanyahu to commit mass murder of children with their tax dollars. No roaring economy. The environment fucked probbaky beyond saving due to their inaction.
What, in all honesty, do the 75 million who have caused this catastrophe think?

In some countries you are required to carry your passport and have a valid visa. I had what was colloquially called a ‘gaijin card’ in Japan, police had every right to stop me and check it at any time (I’m obviously not Japanese so it would have been easy for them to do so)

I always carried my documentation with me. In China the police actually came to my home once to check my visa, and I was required to register at the local police station every time my visa status changed. Every foreigner had to do this.

The question is why were Western countries so lax on this?

If you have a valid visa or residence card, you should be carrying it around to prevent this. And if you don’t, you need to leave ASAP.

Then you should lobby for this law to be changed in the States. As it stands, even US Citizens are being harassed and/or detained by ICE. Current US law does not require citizens to carry proof of citizenship.

As an American myself, I can honestly say that I am embarrassed and ashamed by many of your posts.

We may have to have a national ID system. Which right-wingers won’t like but I personally think it’s a good idea.

But we have at least 10 million illegal migrants in the US (probably more like 25 million). They won’t go back unless forced to, unfortunately. Surely your response isn’t just ‘let them stay’

(I don’t care how you feel about my posts. People always posting ‘how do Trump voters feel NOW?!?’ but get angry when I actually respond to their question)

Stephen Miller, is that you?

No, people who are residing on the US illegally shouldn’t be allowed to stay, in my opinion. It doesn’t give ICE the right to harass or detain US citizens of a certain colour.

So how do you get them to leave? We give them 1000 plus airfare to leave. They won’t. Now what? Just let them stay?

I know enough not to get engaged in a debate with someone whose posts make Stephen Miller’s ideas look vanilla, My thoughts will never be Gestapo-adjacent enough for you, so I’ll leave it there.

@RingoJuice , how do U feel about the pardon of Philip Esformes, who was convicted of $1.3 billion fraud in 2019, sentenced to 20 yrs, but Trump commuted the sentence in 2020. Why was this fraud ok to pardon?

What about the Trump pardons / commutations for Orlando Cicilia and Juan Orlando Hernández (illegal drugs traffickers), do you approve, why?

There is big lack of narrative consistency, horrible fraudster and drug dealers getting pardoned, even allowed to continue living in USA afterwards although not USA citizens. Why are these criminals getting away with those big crimes when ordinary not famous people are getting deported for minor criminal records?

Of all the betrayals, I feel especially bad for Capital Hill police who were beaten up by the rioters on Jan6.2021 and now those rioters are demanding compensation for their time served / prosecutations. Do you agree the rioters should be compensated?

Health care fraudster Philip Esformes is latest Trump clemency recipient to be arrested

Philip Esformes is among several people granted clemency by then-President Donald Trump who have since been charged with new crimes.

Your not 'Youe', I think the spelling mistakes are the result of my shock at the complete lack of humanity. Are you not worried about the Pearly gates, I assume you're of that heritage the way you allude to your superiority?

Breitbart news comments are good, if rather shocking.

Trumps base does appear to be mainly in the "Conservative Jesus " evangelical camp. If I can use the word "camp" without being shot.

Everyone to the left of the Austrian Corporal is a commie or libtard who will burn at the Rapture. And the Trumpers want to be there with their freedom AR15s to help Conservative Jesus along.

And folk like MTG, a full on MAGA who now speaks against him, she is a traitor now.

It's a full on cult, some say.

ExpectZeroContext · 08/01/2026 09:46

Think ? Do do actually believe that they think?

Happyher · 08/01/2026 09:48

The scale of TDS here is mindblowing

Agree. I don’t know where the OP is getting her information from. But it’s inaccurate to say the least. Trump still has a very high approval rating. He’s made cities like Washington DC safe to walk around again. He’s making tough decisions that I wish our Prime Minister would make. That’s not to say he has done everything perfectly but nobody would.

PurpleAxe · 08/01/2026 09:58

I think they love him.

And I think the rest of the world needs to stop whining and wake up to the reality that the US is no longer pretending to give much of a fuck about anywhere else, or about what other countries think about them.

I don't think they ever did, but it suited them to have everyone reliant on them, so they pretended. Well now you know that wasn't a very good idea.

I am personally loving the meltdowns on Mumsnet.

It is like you think they care, or should care what you think about them I can only assume it is a leftover from British imperialism. Fantastic stuff. Britain is weak and soft and war is brewing.

Trump has ripped the mask off diplomacy and it is fascinating to watch it go down.

We are all pretty much fucked at this point.

It's a discussion forum what do you think its purpose is, posting this, do you seriously think you have actually pricked some balloon of delusion about the state of geo-politics.

Equally, what is wrong with being 'soft' are you that brainwashed that you think a government that enjoys you being on a wheel of apathy and assault is preferable!

PurpleAxe · 08/01/2026 10:47

I think if Trump sides with Putin, the UK and Europe are completely defenceless because they rely on a US underwritten NATO for defence. The UK is broke and has no real way or protecting itself from anyone - this makes it a soft and easy target.

You are all bagging Starmer for walking a delicate line. But you will be up shit creek without a paddle if he crosses Trump. The UK needs the US more than the US needs the UK.

This isn't WWII, there are no strong allies at your back. The UK is no longer a world power, it is now a minnow in a sea of sharks. Things change.

Trump wants Greenland for the same reason he wanted Venezuala, controlling oil supplies and movements between China, Russia, and the Middle East.

He might be mad, he might be bad, but pretending that he is stupid or demented is a mistake.

It doesn't matter why the UK is soft. Other countries are getting hard.

Or who knows maybe it is all headed off. Israel takes Palestine, Russia takes Ukraine, US takes Venezuala (and maybe Greenland), and China takes Taiwan. And the big boys all rumble a bit, but ultimately shake hands, make the awful deals and we in our rich, soft countries get to sleep relatively safely in our beds.

There have been worse outcomes.

Tiswa · 08/01/2026 10:53

@PurpleAxe i think the problem is the European/West view of the US has changed, we do see them and it isn’t in the way we used to as someone we wanted or needed to be. As I said earlier it’s like High School and they were the high school jock and everyone else wanted to be them or be with them.

For the most part the world has changed, the US is no longer far ahead of the rest of the world but they haven’t moved on.

It isn’t about caring what happens in their country (although dear god it is awful) and should be a wake up call for Reform and we can’t really judge as we are 3 years away from following the same path. It is about their foreign policy and the belief that the US is so great and the fact they need to assert that

I think you are right the US never cared about the rest of the world but I think it did care a hell of a lot about what the rest of the world thought about the US and that is what it is all about

Yeah I don’t like those pardons.

But why would it make me regret my vote at all? Unfortunately, leadership does things you don’t like. Still won’t make me vote for the other party tho.

As for the rioters, it’s really case by case. Some were violent. I doubt they’ll get compensation tbh

That said, he’s done plenty I like

They do have immense power though. NATO will collapse without the Americans as will MANY other world security arrangements. Their military is immense.

What is happening is they are now exercising the power they have built up, both by building their own military and allowing other countries to rely on them.

The world is getting a taste of what happens when the 'good guys' stop playing nice. Except there are no 'good guys', just people like Us, and people like Them. And now the "Us" and "Them" is shifting.

Deportation is normal. Usually it’s the police that arrest and deport. In the US it’s an entire agency due to the overwhelming numbers

ICE don't care if you are carrying documentation. They just claim it's fake and lock you up anyway. They've got quotas to achieve.

Why would I be worried? I’m not Christian. I rejected it long ago. Although I wouldn’t like to see any new faith gain a foothold mind you.

(as I always say, if you hate the Christian right, you’ll really hate the post-Christian right)

Like I posted previously you haven't popped some balloon of delusion you know. Bloviating on the state of play with some glee is morally repugnant. Yes, all such a f**king laugh isn't it, the immiseration of everyone on the planet other than the big boys. This one upmanship tone is peculiar, why does everyone and everything have to be a battle of strength and power, this is rehetorical by the way!
