why do you assume all videos of what you see are celebrating? Ive seen fake videos celebrating world cup lol making out its for this. I’ve seen videos of people furious too, what’s your point? I’m old enough to remember videos of Iraq and Libya and people celebrating? Didn’t end well. How about the the sick demented dictator saying it’s for oil? They lie and people believe the same old lies. It never seems to end.

I personally do not assume. I know. The dictator had 30 percent support in the last elections. He needed to go so yes many Venezuelan people are celebrating in and out of Venezuela. As for the crude oil the Venezuelans haven’t seen a penny for decades. Some welcome the protection of the US and are hoping the situation will improve.

Delcy Rodriguez can only stay for three months for the transition.

I remember one that was on repeat after 9/11 of a small group of people in a house celebrating in Afghanistan. I can't genuinely remember which channel. It was aired up against upsetting footage of devastation in NYC. It was hard to watch without feeling anger, and I'm not American and politically neutral. So I can only imagine how those devastated felt. It could have been filmed anywhere or of anyone. Even if it was accurately filmed, of course some people will celebrate in any kind of conflict or terrorist attack, but it was aired implying these people represented the Afghan people. I now 100% believe it was a precursor to justify what happened afterwards. We are all so susceptible to propaganda. It's really scary.

Source that Delcy Rodriguez can only stay for three months? And she was Maduro’s oil minister so how is this going to go any better?

Please provide sources of Venezuelans inside celebrating. I’ve seen them celebrating in Texas and Florida, but as I’m sure you’re aware, American immigrants from Cuba are staunch conservatives, and expat Venezuelans in the US are following that path - there is no greater zealot than the convert.

Because I suspect everything’s about to be blown to hell thanks to the following:
“Asked whether he thinks Interim President Delcy Rodríguez is now the legitimate president of Venezuela, [Marco Rubio] says the US does not believe the regime is legitimate” (bold from source)

So… bit worrying.

‘Cold war narratives’: why Miami’s Cuban Americans remain staunch Republicans

Republican politics centering on opposition to Cuba’s late dictator Fidel Castro continue to resonate in Florida, even as they have faded in the rest of the US

Oh that is because by law after three months they need to call for the elections. No that they follow the law but now that they are under protection of the US they may.
Follow the programs of Carla Angola and her very educated guests amd the videos of Maria Corina Machado with facts about every step. All the info is there on what may come next.
Delcy R was the vice president and now will be taking over Maduro in his absence. All over the news and confirmed by Trump. It does not mean it will be better or worse. It will be a transition period as stated in the press conference.

I have been watching general coverage. The following is what has me worried, and maybe it worries you too.

  1. Delcy Rodriguez was Maduro’s oil minister in addition to his vice president. So it’s still a Maduro regime, and she’s not going to want to change the oil policy to what the US want.
  2. She’s not just going along with the US; she’s called this aggression and demanded Maduro’s return.
  3. Trump has said Machado will not be allowed to play a part.
  4. Marco Rubio (quoted in my comment) has now said the US doesn’t view Delcy Rodriguez as “legitimate.” So what? They’re going to kidnap her, too?

Thank you for mentioning those videos and I’ll take a look. Everything above from the news makes me concerned that Venezuela is in for a very bumpy ride.

Do you know that Maduro lost the last elections and only had thirty percent support? He was illegitimate and the 70 percent who did not vote for him are happy he is gone. I find it very odd that people who fled Venezuela are being called conservatives. The millions who left were forced to do it as for the dire situation in Venezuela. Yes, Delcy is from the same regime and even worse but the US is still negotiating and she accepted in principle to collaborate probably in exchange of Ammesty. We need to see how it unfolds. It has been one day.

It's not difficult to listen to Venezuelan people. The vast majority have suffered abject poverty, beyond our imagination. One third - 8 million people - were forced to emigrate. Those are facts. Even the BBC has videos of the celebrations. Yes the future is uncertain, but getting rid of a dictator, who was not elected, is a relief and joy to the vast majority of Venezuelan people. To deny this shows your own bias.

Under the protection of the US! Is that what we are calling this now?

From where I sit, a rogue US president has broken US law again, invaded another country without congress consultation, let alone agreement. They have killed civilians during this brief invasion and captured a prisoner of war who they parade in front of cameras against the Geneva convention.

They are now threatening the country with more harm if they don't agree to let the US president and chums take the oil, and probably pay them for the privilege.

This is not my idea of protection.

Maria Corina is very happy with the process.which is a good sign. No one knows all the ins and out. As for your concern about Venezuela. They have been in hell for years and welcome any kind of hope.

Again where all these people worried about Venezuela and their oil were in the last 27 years. Plus do they even know that the Russian and Chinese were after the oil too?

I have friends there. Most of them seem to be afraid. I think it’s the uncertainty over US involvement maybe? One of my friends, in particular, is terrified of Trump saying he “wasn’t afraid to put boots on the ground.” She thinks it will be like Afghanistan or Iraq. I’ll look up what Machado is saying now, because if she’s approving the process, maybe it’ll make my friend feel a bit better.

A lot of these are Venezuelans celebrating are outside of the country like in Florida.I had a lot of videos with Venezuelans protesting to get Maduro back . These appeared to be in Venezuela….

This! Tik Tok and X are full of Venezuelan's celebrating and partying. Hundreds of thousands of them. Why are so many people upset for the people of Venezuela when they are clearly so happy.

Just search Caracas on X you will
see tens of thousands celebrating there.

I haven't seen one single video from Venezuela of people protesting against Trump and calling for maduro to return. Ive searched x and cant find any. Do you have a link?

Pacificsunshine · 04/01/2026 22:18

I think Venezuelans in the main are pleased, but cautious of how this may go. They aren’t silly. Their GDP has dropped to 20% of what it used to be. Regular people have suffered a lot, and realise this is a time of hope and also risk.

It’s those of us in reasonably comfortable countries who are unhappy. This break from the rules based order is not good for us. Unrestrained US power is not in our best interest.

So one video which states it is "ai generated audio" and another of one single woman speaking and a bunch silently watching her. No cheering, no signs etc. Excuse me if I dont take them as gospel.

I've seen enough genuine videos of the Venezuelan diaspora celebrating, including in my own city, to be able to gauge their sentiments about this

You could return the favour, I've yet to see any videos from Caracas of crowds cheering.

The ai audio didn't worry me, I don't speak Spanish so couldn't understand them. The pictures match the narrative in them and they are both posted by news organisations.
