Anecdotally.,, I’m on Mounjaro and have not got flu this Christmas…

Totally not a medical fact, but all of my family have been really, really unwell with very bad colds thru to flu this Christmas,

3 very fit, healthy adult children and partners, healthy husband. No flu jabs (will rectify this from now on).

Very poorly in the run up to Christmas, we’ve come away to a holiday cottage and I’m pretty much Florence Nightgale to everyone.

i feel fine. I’m either bionic, or will be floored by the weekend. the only thing I can think of is 1 year plus on Mounjaro, which is not a medical consideration in terms of immunity,

anyone else on the WLIs escaping the worst of this horrible virus, or am in indeed bionic?

Correlation is not causation.

LighthouseLED · 30/12/2025 19:10

I’m not on Mounjaro and also didn’t have flu this Christmas.

drusilla49 · 30/12/2025 19:10

I’m not on any weight loss injection, work in healthcare, and have not caught flu this season….

user98732 · 30/12/2025 19:11

DH had flu for weeks. Ive not caught it and Im not on WLJs

Ministerofmumbles · 30/12/2025 19:11

Don’t be silly… I’ve had many a year where I haven’t caught a respiratory infection when everyone else around me have dropped like flies and have never been on WLI.

Same. But I do drink blackcurrant squash, and my husband who doesn't has had a bad cold 🤷

KnewYearKnewMe · 30/12/2025 19:11

I’m glad many of us have not caught it!

KnewYearKnewMe · 30/12/2025 19:12

@PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich blackcurrant squash is a known medical miracle!

Maybe your immune system is better that you have lost weight.
My DS has a cough/cold all winter, usually a flu, D&V, if it’s around he’ll catch it. I have only had flu once as an adult.

hby9628 · 30/12/2025 19:13

Im not on MJ. The rest of my family had flue. I didn’t 🤷‍♀️

LovesLabradors · 30/12/2025 19:13

Me too! I've been on MJ since May and not a hint of cold/flu, when everyone else seems to be dropping like flies!
Also, I every year I succumb to the dreaded cold/flu around Nov/Dec - not this year.

And it's the first year in about a decade that I'm the other side of Xmas and still slim. Magical stuff.

momamia12 · 30/12/2025 19:13

I’m not on it and haven’t caught it despite helping care for someone with properly diagnosed flu

I think that may be it, @EmeraldShamrock000 - I’m usually the first to succumb 🤞

not on WLI, work in a hospital, no flu

Contycont · 30/12/2025 19:14

3 family members have had horrendous fevers, coughs and headaches. I have had a mild sniffle.

Anecdotally....I just didn't have time to be sick as I was dealing with everyone and everything else. 🙃🫠

EdgeOfThirtySeven · 30/12/2025 19:14

Weirdly OP, WLIs did not exist until a few years ago and, historically, not 100% of the population got flu every year.

HelpMySocksAreTouchingMe · 30/12/2025 19:15

I have been on a low dose of mounjarno since Feb and I am the sickest I have been in years with this horrible flu which just won’t shift.

Are you eating more fruit and vegetables too? It’s a good sign.

That's - not how viruses work.

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 30/12/2025 19:17

This isn't the first time i've heard this. Lot of people on MJ have reported a reduction in viral illness compared to usual.

Coincidence maybe. But there is a lot about GLP1'S we don't know.

It's how sarcasm works though

I've been on mounjaro for over a year and I had horrendous flu before Xmas AND I was vaccinated 😑

How was it sarcasm? You seemed to be implying that you were somehow better than them, or they were weaker.

LemaxObsessive · 30/12/2025 19:20

I’m not on mounjaro and never have been and also haven’t had flu this season nor have I had even a cold this season 🤷🏼‍♀️
