To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?

Twiglets1 · 27/12/2025 20:14

Reported in The Telegraph today that Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed an alleged Islamist extremist, who labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and called for Zionists to be killed, into the UK.

The Prime Minister said he was “delighted” that Alaa Abd el-Fattah had arrived from Egypt on Friday evening after a travel ban imposed by Cairo was lifted following lobbying by ministers.

Mr Abd el-Fattah, an activist with dual British-Egyptian citizenship, previously said that it was heroic to kill Zionists “including civilians”. He urged Londoners to burn Downing Street, told his supporters to kill police and said he hated white people.

Ministers are facing calls to revoke his British citizenship, which he was granted in 2021 while imprisoned in Egypt, where campaigners described him as a “prisoner of conscience”.

Sir Keir’s tweet yesterday said how “delighted” he was that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in this country. Does that seem a reasonable stance to take for someone who has claimed at the same time to be committed to "eradicating antisemitism in the UK"?

So two things were predictable. The first to get a dig at the Tories. Second, to bring in Gaza. Anything and everything to accept the threat in front of you. Starmer recognises terrorists as a state and now this. I'm starting to think it's not just inadequacy but something else for his questionable decisions. Is his advisor deliberately trying to topple him?

Yep. Why on earth is he delighted? And why was it a priority.

Never heard of the guy, look at those tweets.

He could hardly be upsetting more people if he tried ... hopefully his wife has put him in the spare bedroom tonight.

I think Starmer will do anything for the Muslim vote, regardless of the consequences for British people.

It's the assumption by the political classes that the general population wouldn't have noticed or wouldn't have been made aware of Alaa Abd El-Fattah's previous on SM that's one of the problems here..do they really think the electorate are that thick....?

Because of the dual nationality issue HMG might have felt there was an imperative to intervene but that should have been conditional on his SM comments being investigated and just maybe he should have been met on return to the UK with the sort of welcome Graham Linehan got....

Praising his release/return and also quietly turning a blind eye to his SM history being edited is utterly stupid.

That's the other thing. I'd love to know what their conversations consist of with his bizarre take on tackling antisemitism.

its astounding that MP’s tie themselves so openly to a man with such an horrific posting history.

It also raises a huge question over who we are letting in.

If this man, with well publicised Islamic extremists and racist views, is let in, then who else is?

Hes really done a number on us, hasnt he?

His new advisor, Mr Andy Burnham 😉

Looks that way.

As I see it it does increasingly look like the many mainstream politicians are unable or unwilling to read the room....

Has he threatened to kill anyone? There’s a difference between not liking someone, and then being a maniac extremist.

He had the rally with the Nazi dog whistle 88 thing on the bus. He also brought Musk to speak out at it and he wanted them to kill the PM.

OP: I’m also a Labour supporter and think it is madness to welcome any type of violent nutcases or agitators into the UK (this Islamic dude, Israeli PM, Musk, Lennon, Farage etc etc- whatever their political agenda). As soon as you start to stir up shit and violence, the passport should be revoked. Bye Bye.

stomachamelon · 27/12/2025 22:57

Well this thread has taken an unsurprising turn :/

EmeraldRoulette · 27/12/2025 23:04

@Cluborange666 "He also brought Musk to speak out at it and he wanted them to kill the PM"

could you expand on that, please? More specifically, who are you saying wanted to kill the PM and how was this expressed?

@Aislyn there are a great many worrying people who are let in. I think what's unusual is the prime minister showing off about it on this occasion.

Twiglets1 · 27/12/2025 23:07

Same story being reported by the London Evening Standard.

They point out that in 2014, the blogger’s posts on Twitter cost him a nomination for the European Parliament’s Sakharov Prize.

The group backing him withdrew the nomination for the human rights award, saying they had discovered a tweet from 2012 in which he called for the murder of Israelis.

In his letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Jenrick asked him to clarify whether he knew about Mr Abd El-Fattah’s statements before he posted that he was “delighted” at his release.

“Do you condemn them without qualification, including the endorsement of killing Israelis and ‘zionists’ and the calls to kill police and burn Downing Street?”

He asked if the Prime Minister would “correct the record” and withdraw the “unalloyed endorsement”.

“Nobody should be imprisoned arbitrarily, nor for peaceful dissent. But neither should the Prime Minister place the authority of his office behind someone whose own words cross into the language of racism and bloodshed,” he said.

It is definitely unusual it is being celebrated, but so worrying that this highlights how little vetting there is before awarding nationality. Other countries check social media before allowing entry to the country eg the US. We should definitely be checking before awarding citizenship.

depends if its to get them in the hands of the security services and extract all their intel and connections or flip them and use them as assets etc

Extremists injured and killed my family, my friends. No Debate and purity spirals acted as cause and catalyst.

I remembered , lit candles for all of them this Christmas.✨️

Yes we light candles. We are, as I am, sorry for the loss of anyone due to an extremist act. Its awful.

A point of this thread might be though why welcome people who tweet the hatred he spouts here?

The next attack will highly likely be islamist extremists. We light candles and then we welcome them.

I didn't say I am only worried now, but this highlights the utter lack of background checks going on.

Side bar

I've lost the plot what people are trying to say with the lighting candles comments

I have also been bereaved as a result of a terror attack. I have a huge amount of rage. I absolutely do look back in anger and I think it's a damn fool who doesn't

Unfortunately, politicians just seem to think it's part of life and some kind of necessary evil in order for them to have their crazy careers.

@EmeraldRoulette

Unfortunately, politicians just seem to think it's part of life and some kind of necessary evil in order for them to have their crazy careers.

One theory is that's possibly because at a very senior level the pollies in the UK are relatively well protected from the consequences of their decisions...(yes, I know the rank and file MPs are exposed)

If MPs weren't surrounded by all the barriers and roaming armed patrols around Westminster, and senior officials were more inclinded to travel by bus/tube without protection they might share the concerns of a lot of the general population.
