To think that Kier Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain?

Twiglets1 · 27/12/2025 20:14

Reported in The Telegraph today that Sir Keir Starmer has welcomed an alleged Islamist extremist, who labelled British people “dogs and monkeys” and called for Zionists to be killed, into the UK.

The Prime Minister said he was “delighted” that Alaa Abd el-Fattah had arrived from Egypt on Friday evening after a travel ban imposed by Cairo was lifted following lobbying by ministers.

Mr Abd el-Fattah, an activist with dual British-Egyptian citizenship, previously said that it was heroic to kill Zionists “including civilians”. He urged Londoners to burn Downing Street, told his supporters to kill police and said he hated white people.

Ministers are facing calls to revoke his British citizenship, which he was granted in 2021 while imprisoned in Egypt, where campaigners described him as a “prisoner of conscience”.

Sir Keir’s tweet yesterday said how “delighted” he was that Alaa Abd El-Fattah is back in this country. Does that seem a reasonable stance to take for someone who has claimed at the same time to be committed to "eradicating antisemitism in the UK"?

My LOCAL MP has blocked me, along with others who have asked perfectly legitimate questions

Wow! At least mine answers me.

Twiglets1 · 29/12/2025 13:44

At the current time about 700 people have voted and about 70 of those have voted that it's unreasonable to think that Keir Starmer shouldn't be welcoming extremists into Britain.

Let's hope most of the 70 pressed the wrong button.

But Labour are not trying to clear up anything. They are bringing him here by invitation. It will add work for the Police to monitor him in-case he continues rabble rousing. How much will he get in benefits and safe housing.

Exactly they are just so very dleighted to be welcoming this jihadi arsehole here.

I wouldn't care if Starmer actually said 'another tory mess to clear up' but his sickening excitement demonstrates that as usual he has not got a clue.

bombastix · 29/12/2025 15:13

The whole thing is cretinous. Why did he get citizenship of the UK and why have successive governments campaigned and used public resources to get him released in Egypt? Presumably Egypt told our diplomats what he was like. Even if we didn’t agree, it should have been checked before citizenship was granted.

I imagine these comments are the tip of the iceberg. The whole thing smells.

HappyFace2025 · 29/12/2025 15:19

@bombastix the Egyptians did inform our government what he is like, according to a report I just read. The whole affair just stinks.

bombastix · 29/12/2025 15:32

There is something very smelly about this. There are British citizens across the world who are currently detained by governments and yet our governments resources and efforts are not given to them.

It will do for a start to know why and how his citizenship was granted. Then a sight of these briefings done to obtain his passage to this country.

That's why there should be a public enquiry

I agree with you and @bombastix . But I think it will all get brushed under the carpet.

I don't think he can even be prosecuted for the tweets as I think there is a three year time limit?

I can't remember if it was you or another poster who mentioned Holocaust denial being made illegal in the UK, but I agree it should be.

I really don't buy that the tweets were some sort of jest or sarcasm. Also the guy was pushing 30 when he made them, he wasn't some stupid teenager.

HappyFace2025 · 29/12/2025 16:00

@PandoraSocks I'm worried it will get brushed under the carpet. I'm currently under the weather but when I feel better my MP will get a letter when she gets back to work next Monday.
Edited to include in my letter that a law on Holocaust Denial is long overdue. Speaking as the daughter of a Holocaust survivor.

He’s nowhere near clearing it up. He facilitated the arrival via calls to the president there. When he said it was a top priority he meant it. It meant getting the man here.

Vespanest · 29/12/2025 16:02

the apology even stinks, who exactly is he apologising to. I very much doubt it's the Jewish population, which of his tweets does he categorise as unacceptable. The anti-semitism, the white hate, the Bin Laden appreciation, the misogyny of women to be raped or the homophobia or none of the above.

He’s not going anywhere according to Labour today so it’s easy peasy.

I would say the whole thing is weird, scary and very sinister. Why do successive Governments seem hell-bent on bringing in dangerous, hateful people to the UK and then treating them with kid gloves? It's all so bizarre and sinister. And next time there is an attack it will be back to "lessons will be learned" - rinse and repeat.

DaisyDazee · 29/12/2025 16:21

Very true, there is the couple in Iran, they had travel visas and were with a guide or 'minder' when they were arrested.

This case seems pretty unique, which is why there is rightly such a furore. Have there been other cases of people who have expressed such disgusting views subsequently being given British citizenship?

Of course there are people who have been given British Citizenship who have then gone on to commit horrible crimes, but that's a different issue. And those people don't tend to get treated with "kid gloves".

Rarely do i have common cause with some posters on here but this whole saga is beyond bizarre.
He shouldn't be here, he shouldn't have citizenship and he should be sent back to Egypt.
Though i doubt anything will change now.

Starmer is an utter idiot as was the various Tory ministers and PMs who also campaigned for his release... but its happened on KS watch and he has to take responsibility for him being here now.

I couldn't agree more. The utter incompetence of all involved is astounding. Starmer needs to step up.

Hamas leader Muhammad Qassem Sawalha was given British citizenship and subsequently bought his London home through the right to buy scheme.

I imagine if you look, you will find more.
