I really enjoy the months of September-December much more than the rest of the year particularly the summer and around my birthday.

Spring , I like when everything starts to wake up, I feel like I do too.

Loved Summer in my youth, now can't handle the heat.

Really, really don't like January, seems to last 6 months!

moonlightinthelibrary · 25/12/2025 09:12

YABU. I am ecstatic the shortest day is over and spring is on the way, cannot wait!

I find it very odd that people find unrelenting rain, cold, and chronic "greyness" to be remotely enjoyable. I get that some people might not like extreme heat but in the UK we rarely experience that, whereas the nasty dank greyness lasts for bloody months and months.

GoodQueenWenceslaus · 25/12/2025 09:14

No, Spring is definitely my favourite time of year.

PistachioTiramisu · 25/12/2025 09:26

No - disagree completely with you! Hate October to December for the horrible dark mornings and evenings. At least we are now past the Shortest Day and every single day we are getting more daylight!

Alltheprettyseahorses · 25/12/2025 10:01

Ber months? Like the cosy, painfully slow coffee-making, tapping stuff with ugly fake talons influencer thing? People are different and like what they like but I prefer spring and summer because I want to be out going to places in the daylight, can do much more when days are long.

DrCoconut · 25/12/2025 10:11

I'm the opposite. We've made it to the solstice. Once Christmas is over it's onwards and upwards to better weather and daylight.

dooflepops · 25/12/2025 10:41

I prefer them too. I feel relieved on the summer solstice when the nights start to draw in again. I like summer but heat and light be too invasive, I would much rather pull the curtains shut and relax in lamplight in the evening. It is comforting to remember that the ‘ber’ months are there on the calendar 9 months from now. At the end of the summer autumn is waiting. It’s sad they are nearly
over but they always come back.

mazedasamarchhare · 25/12/2025 11:07

Nope! Not sad at all! I love the fact the nights are pulling out, yesterday it was really noticeable. But having lived in a country with just two seasons, I love all four of ours! I love the fact in just another month my aconitines and snowdrops will be making an appearance and the heralding of spring and new beginnings will be underway. I quite like the summer, but not as keen on it as I used to be as find the heat more trying now I’m older, then back in the bounty of harvest and the lovely smells of autumn, and back into the snug colder world of winter, and watching the birds tuck into their winter feast on the bird table and watching, with wry amusement, the squirrels as I pit my intelligence against theirs in designing obstacle courses for them! So far my thorny rose is the only thing they can’t scale, and the birds can feed freely!

Spidey66 · 25/12/2025 11:10

I'm the opposite. I hate the winter, the cold and dark make me depressed. I'm happier now we've past the hump day (December 21st).

RaininSummer · 25/12/2025 11:16

God no . Every winter feels like I enter survival mode. Only living a half life as it's so cold, wet and depressing with aches joints, muddy dog and a battle with the elements just to get to work.

ItsmeMargo · 25/12/2025 11:17

The bers are my favourite time of year.

I feel like I don’t really get going again until about May!

Miranda65 · 25/12/2025 11:18

Absolutely disagree.... September is OK, but then it starts getting darker and darker....awful! (Not to mention the Xmas fuss).
At least the light starts to come back in January and it's a time to start planning fun things for the year.

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 25/12/2025 11:42

Me too. We're winter people, we thrive in cold and dark. I have summer SAD and the dread will kick in during March. By April I will long for September.

PhantomOfAllKnowledge · 25/12/2025 11:49

Nope, glad to tick the bers off. Just the uaries to go and then we'll be back in the land of reasonable daylight and half-decent weather Xmas Grin

aLFIESMA · 25/12/2025 12:08

Love the bers, in fact I am planning to have a Januber & a Febuber too. Keeping the cosy going with all the fairy lights, blankets and hot chocolates! Please feel free to join in Ber Chums x

HornyHornersPinger · 25/12/2025 12:09

I used to be like this to the point I struggled in summer with the heat and long days. But now I've totally switched, the last few winters have been particularly bleak, my normal depression gets unbearable and I absolutely live for summer now ☀️

Netcurtainnelly · 25/12/2025 12:16

No hate them. Cant wait for the New Year and Spring.

DreadingWinter · 25/12/2025 12:19

I hate winter as my user name says! I can't wait for the first signs of Spring.

scalt · 25/12/2025 12:20

My list of hidden threads is very long. Roll on spring.

garlicandsapphires · 25/12/2025 12:32

I’m with you OP! Love winter, even January. Feel more energised in winter.

piscofrisco · 25/12/2025 13:19

I’m a weirdo that actually loves cold austere January and February and I’m already seeing signs of spring-Daffs poking their little shoots up etc. That said I work outside so I see daylight in those months where I know a lot of people go to work In the dark, indoors all day, home in the dark and it’s oppressive.
one of my most favourite things in life is a cold blustery walk down a deserted beach in January. We went to Port Isaac in Cornwall for our honeymoon 8th -15th Jan one year and it was deserted and magical!

scorpiogirly · 25/12/2025 13:21

When it's summer I get sick of it and can't wait for the colder months, then when its cold I get sick of it and long for summer. Never happy 😊

ByronKoala · 25/12/2025 13:25

I cannot wait for spring, absolutely love seeing the days start to get longer and the optimism in the air.

January and February are my least favourite months by far - cold, dark & depressing with no big festivities to look forward to. I enjoy Halloween & Christmas but once they’re over I am more than ready for the sun to come back!

TidyCyan · 25/12/2025 13:26

Same here. I absolutely hate the months between now and April. Summer is only marginally better.
