I really enjoy the months of September-December much more than the rest of the year particularly the summer and around my birthday.

Mostly does in the north west!

And in the southwest! We have had periods of 18 months when it's rained every single day.

England doesnt rain all year long 🙄 thats scotland!

Some years it seems to; we’ve had “summers” where not a single week goes by without grey skies, rain and wind and temperatures below 20 degrees! I.e. early spring or late autumn weather in the majority of European countries. It’s really oppressive. Thank goodness there is this festival to cheer us all up through the dismal mid-winter, but January and February are always a slog that seems like it’ll never end, even worse in years where the rain and grey continues throughout spring. Let’s hope for a good summer!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 25/12/2025 15:26

I feel kind of sad

But also, I feel ready for a nice, cold, january

A fresh start, a fresh year - cold dark mornings with the wind in your face

A new me 😌

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2025 15:28

This year has been the hottest summer on record. Water levels are still not recovered from last year. No wonder nobody cares about the climate crisis when they don’t notice what’s going on around them.

LancashireButterPie · 25/12/2025 01:17

I completely disagree!
I don't dislike autumn but I can't wait to see the snowdrops flowering soon.

I have snowdrops in flower 🙂 ( only three) can’t remember them flowering for Christmas before . I debated whether to pick them for the Christmas dinner table but in the end didn’t, went for ivy, hellebore and cyclamen instead. London so it’s usually a bit warmer here.

Skybluepinky · 25/12/2025 15:48

Not at all hate the cold dark damp days.

No, it was not “the hottest summer on record”. It may end up being the hottest overall year on record depending how cold/ warm it is for the rest of December (versus 2022). That is largely because of the endless grey and rain and lack of frost over last winter and spring. It was not the hottest summer by any means. And the previous two summers before the last one were dire so it was the first decent summer here for three years.

YABU. I am ecstatic the shortest day is over and spring is on the way, cannot wait!

I find it very odd that people find unrelenting rain, cold, and chronic "greyness" to be remotely enjoyable. I get that some people might not like extreme heat but in the UK we rarely experience that, whereas the nasty dank greyness lasts for bloody months and months.

Yes this! How anyone can enjoy miserable wet weather beats me.

Because it's not miserable to us. Relentless bright hotness is miserable.

Ladamesansmerci · 25/12/2025 21:10

I can't wait for Spring/Summer. I hate winter. I don't mind cold weather at all, but I hate rain, and most of all, I hate the short, dark days. Nothing worse than leaving your house in the dark, and coming back in the dark.

RandomUsernameHere · 25/12/2025 21:11

Couldn’t disagree more! December is the worst month, at least it’s starting to get lighter in January.

daffodilandtulip · 25/12/2025 21:14

I love the build up to Christmas, but it always feels so dreary and loooonnngggg in January and February ... but I do get excited when the first signs of Spring start to appear.

museumum · 25/12/2025 21:17

I understand not liking the heat. But for us in the uk, anything even slightly resembling “hot” is still four or more months away! It’s cold till March and barely warm till May!

MaidOfSteel · 25/12/2025 21:18

Oh no, I’m quite the opposite! I can’t wait for spring and summer. I find the long, cold and dark days so depressing. We’ve even taken to having a couple of short winter sun holidays to help cheer us up!

dottiedodah · 25/12/2025 21:23

Love September. Weather just right .my Birthday too.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 25/12/2025 21:26

Not for me, I love autumn but by this time of year I’m struggling with the darkness and ready for spring!

We have had a holiday in January or February for the last couple of years and that has saved my sanity; going to the Canaries in a Feb this year which will be great.

I really struggled last year with low mood due to lots of factors including grief but have been better this year partly because I am walking outside as much as I can, exercising regularly in the gym and I have been eating much better.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 25/12/2025 21:34

I don't mind October to December because there's always something going on.

I hate January more than anything, there is nothing good about it. It's like a thousand days until payday, the gyms are crazy busy with the new year new me people, life just feels a drudge. I just want the light mornings back. This year I'm not having my usual 2 weeks off over Christmas as I only have 8 days annual leave until April, and it feels depressing.

But its only 65 days until meteorological Spring starts, which means I can start planning my summer plants, the days will start getting longer, the weather will start getting warmer (eventually), the 6 Nations starts in just over a month.

Wintersgirl · 25/12/2025 21:36

Sorry OP but I LOATHE the term "ber" for those three months...but otherwise I kind of of agree with you

Sonolanona · 25/12/2025 22:38

Nope nope nope.
Give me spring and summer... gardening, up at my allotment seeing new life spring through. I HATE winter. Grey, cold, miserable muddy walks with the dog. I'd rather have to be up at 5am to walk the dog on hot days, than trudging through drizzle in winter.

Mrsmch123 · 25/12/2025 23:07

I hate they months😅may to to aug are my favourite ☀️

I agree. I find it really invigorating to put my raincoat and wellies on and go for a walk in the rain. It doesn't feel miserable at all to me...it feels fresh and vibrant.

EleanorReally · 26/12/2025 06:26

january fills me with fear, for the icy driving and prospect of snow

PodMom · 26/12/2025 07:20

Personally I hate the cold and dark so just sad I’ve got January and February to go. By March I feel there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
