Christmas Eve boxes - what’s in yours?

Exactly that - what do you put in your kids Christmas Eve boxes, if you do them?
DD8 has got a book, some Christmas bath bombs, Christmas themed chocs/sweets, little bits like scented pencils from smiggle and a nail art pen set. DS5 has got a book, a sticker book, colouring in book, bath bomb, Christmas themed chocs

Nothing. This isn't a tradition for us.

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 24/12/2025 15:38

Pjs
book
pants and socks
giant chocolate coin
biscuits/panettonne
face mask
shower gel

Fangisnotacoward · 24/12/2025 15:38

Nothing, they are getting enough tomorrow. They got new pyjamas before bed tonight, but they arent wrapped or in a box

mammabing · 24/12/2025 15:39

Haven’t done a proper box but DS has some new pyjamas, a book for bed time and a bath bomb. Whilst Christmas Eve boxes seem to be a fairly new thing I always remember getting pjs on Christmas Eve

UndoRedo · 24/12/2025 15:39

Nothing, weird new idea

JuliesName · 24/12/2025 15:40

Christmas PJs
Book
Coloring book
Christmas playdoh
Hot chocolate
New cup
Tree ornament

Purplebunnie · 24/12/2025 15:41

Nothing, DGC gets enough on Christmas Day and I'm not starting a new tradition

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 24/12/2025 15:41

I've never done them. They're too recent a trend in the UK for my kids to have been into them. Just seems like another way to rinse cash out of parents over Christmas.

Elf on the shelf, Christmas Eve boxes, stockings, main presents. It's never ending.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 24/12/2025 15:43

We don’t do them. We do presents on Christmas Day, or if DC aren’t with me, on an agreed date after Christmas.

Don’t forget advent boxes!! 🙄

Abra1t · 24/12/2025 15:44

Never done them.

IAmADancer · 24/12/2025 15:46

Nothing because the children get enough on Christmas Day. I don’t understand this need for mass consumption, it’s something that none of my circle of friends do as it’s seen as quite tacky and unnecessary.

wizzbitt · 24/12/2025 15:48

Yeah same as pp. They’ll have some lovely presents tomorrow.

Aren’t they the things which go in a stocking or is this instead of?

Hollowvoice · 24/12/2025 15:52

We've never done them either. Advent calendars in the run up then the gifts on the day.
A nail art set is one of my DDs main gifts, not an extra!

Instead of in our house

my children are 26, 24 and 22 and we have done a variation of this since they were small…do one for ds1 husband as well though that may have been a step too far!

Ablondiebutagoody · 24/12/2025 15:53

Not much. They had enough in their Christmas Eve Eve box.

Anononony · 24/12/2025 15:55

Kept it small just b&m PJs, a tub of popcorn to share, home alone dvd, a small selection box each and a christmas cookie each

olivietolivie · 24/12/2025 15:55

We did pyjamas, Beano book, velvet art, a light up crayola snowman to colour in, chocolate lollipops and a Cornish hot chocolate stirrer. Oh and a lush bath bomb which is being used as we speak.

Purlant · 24/12/2025 15:56

We do stockings on Christmas Day instead and put in those sort of things in you mentioned. We only do presents on Christmas Day, otherwise I think it takes the specialness away from the day itself - they have enough to open then!!

Crazy. I swear it's down to the growth of Instagram et al. Influencers trying to generate new content ideas and maximise their advertising revenue over Christmas. Sell, sell, sell and get those affiliate cookies onto as many devices as possible. Ends up making normal parents feel like they should be doing the same to ✨make memories✨. Big difference is parents are spending their own money, rather than being given bags of stuff for free (as well as being paid). The influencer stuff is just smoke and mirrors, cynical advertising, the modern version of QVC.

A beautifully festive card, laminated, with gold trim, which reads "go to bed".

Clearinguptheclutter · 24/12/2025 16:06

Nothing
they have more than enough to look forward to in the morning, can’t imagine having to assemble even more

Freda69 · 24/12/2025 16:07

Never heard of them!

Orangeorganic · 24/12/2025 16:07

We don’t do Christmas stockings, the Christmas Eve boxes are kind of in place of those I guess
