Christmas Eve boxes - what’s in yours?

Exactly that - what do you put in your kids Christmas Eve boxes, if you do them?
DD8 has got a book, some Christmas bath bombs, Christmas themed chocs/sweets, little bits like scented pencils from smiggle and a nail art pen set. DS5 has got a book, a sticker book, colouring in book, bath bomb, Christmas themed chocs

We don't do Xmas eve box but the elves flew of today and left some Christmas bath bombs for my 'stinky' kids

MaarvaCarassi · 24/12/2025 17:44

No judgement here 😄.

We do (for DS):
1st Dec box - hot choc + mini marshmallows, Christmas decoration, craft kit, chocolate reindeer
Advent calendar - usually Lego
Stocking - about 10 random small things, has to include chocolate coins

Elphamouche · 24/12/2025 17:47

Pjs, Christmas story and a little chocolate Santa for DD
Pjs, hot chocolate and biscuits for DH. I’d imagine mine will be similar. We open after we get back from my sisters tonight and get DD ready for bed. It’s a nice tradition we’ve started for DD, not for Instagram or Facebook.

Fidgety31 · 24/12/2025 17:50

My Christmas Eve box has changed somewhat now the kids are older (teen:adults )
They still get new pyjamas . Miniature bottle of baileys type drink each. Chilli peanuts and snacks. Bottle of Buck’s Fizz to share. Reindeer food. Santas plate for his brandy and mince pie.
Their presents and cards to each other - always exchanged on Christmas Eve.

Watchoutfortheslowaraf · 24/12/2025 17:52

mine share a box and it has new pyjamas and chocolate coins. I’ve always had new pyjamas at Christmas Eve from being a child (and even now at almost 40 my mum will still get me some!). I wanted to carry on that tradition with mine and the box is handy to put them in

NotMyCircusNotMyProblem · 24/12/2025 17:57

Well I put my tax return in mine and sent it to my accountant 😂

Couldn’t find a box file anywhere but happened to see a Christmas Eve box in Asda and OMG, it was perfect, just enough room in it. Only cost me £1:97 - wish I’d discovered them years ago. It definitely brightened my accountants day 😂

Gangof7 · 24/12/2025 21:24

My daughters have 2 bottles of wine, crisps, chocolate, midget gems and millions 🤩

EezyOozy · 24/12/2025 21:26

Nothing. They are getting plenty tmrw and we already have enough tat.

Straightomyhead · 24/12/2025 21:30

We do a Christmas Eve box. It wasn’t a tradition I had as a child but my SIL did it with my nephews and I loved the idea. Inside my DS box, he gets new pjs, hot chocolate and all which is needed to leave out for Santa and a book.

sure this’ll grow as he gets older but he enjoyed opening it this evening. No much extra consumption as most of it goes back in the box for next year.

my nephews are now adults and they used to get a DVD in theirs. I suppose that’s a bit outdated now but we’ll find extra bits as he gets older.

AIBU is a strange place to put a thread like this. It’s almost as if the OP is trying to start the annual Christmas Eve box bun fight.

People don't have to fight; if you don't do the boxes then you don't really need to reply. And then there's no fight.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 24/12/2025 21:38

I did an Xmas eve box when Dd, Dsd and Dss were younger. I quite liked it as they would get them at around 4pm and I would put in - a personalised Xmas book, Pjs, socks, haribo, small colouring and puzzle books, popcorn and a DVD. Wine and emergency cigarettes for me. (Joke)

Dramatic · 24/12/2025 21:41

Mine get Pjs, a book to share and some popcorn

GoAwayNaughtyPigeon · 24/12/2025 21:46

DDnotquite3 got some new Pyjamas, a bath bomb and some snacks to share while we watched a film this evening. She needed new Pyjamas anyway so 🤷‍♀️ i would have given her a book as well from the charity shop but she really doesn't need anymore bloody books right now

DD5 months got a pack of melty puffs and a fruit pouch that will be put in the cupboard until weaning in the New Year. A Christmas babygrow that used to be her sisters. And a recycled teething toy that she was given at birth but obviously she doesn't know that 😂

NigelForage · 24/12/2025 21:47

no One needs this shit

overmyherd · 24/12/2025 21:51

A bath bomb, hot chocolate, pj’s, a ticket to watch a film (always the Polar Express), and our night before Christmas book that we read every year. I never get Christmas PJs in the Christmas Eve box, just normal ones they can use all year round.

Ineedanewsofa · 24/12/2025 21:56

We don’t do them but as kids my parents used to allow us to open one present on Xmas eve which magically used to contain PJs/bot chocolate sachets/chocolate coins/a book and this was the the late 80s/early 90s so xmas eve boxes aren’t that weird to me. Must be our German ancestry 🤣

KeenGreen · 24/12/2025 21:58

We do a Christmas Eve box

DS (5) has in his wooden toys (made by Lanka Kade) of Santa reindeer sleigh tree etc that he has had since a baby but lives in his Christmas Eve box. A Christmas tree fidget and wind up toys we got last year and kept in the box so reused from last year.

Then added some new bits, new Christmas book to read at bedtime, silly fun games (reindeer hoopla and sprout head game), and gingerbread men making kit.

We do have matching PJs also but don’t put them in the box. This years were bought last year in sale.

So we quite like it but don’t go mad, bits that are reused each year, and a few non expensive items that involve some family time 😊

EveryDayisFriday · 24/12/2025 21:59

When they were little it was pj's, hot chocolate, popcorn and some Xmas DVDs. Also in there was the Santa plate, stockings and the night before Xmas book to read at bedtime.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/12/2025 17:21

EotS was 2005 and the original idea was 1974 ( the author did for her own DC) so it's been around a while .

CEH were around when my DC were little ( 26&23 now)

My DDs are 25 and 29 and we never had EOTS or CEB. I’ve also never heard of everyone else in RL doing it. I always assumed that Poundland invented both in 2010 and got MN to promote them through various threads ever since.

I’m not a Christmas killjoy. I LOVE it. I go over the top in every aspect. I’m properly vulgar. But I have only ever heard about EOTS and CEB from MN.

80smonster · 24/12/2025 22:00

Christmas Stitch PJs
Red cotton velvet bow headband
Christmas gel pens x 4
Magic mini christmas tree
Christmas tree cupcake kit
Inital Stanley cup accessories

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 24/12/2025 22:02

We shared a tub of M&S Rocky Road, does that count as a Christmas Eve box?

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 24/12/2025 22:03

We’ve had the same box for over ten years, and it even travels with us if we’re away for Christmas.
Always new PJs, a couple of bags of toffee popcorn, our old copy of Twas the night before Christmas, our stockings, and Christmas headbands that come out every year.
It arrives on the doorstep, delivered by two elves (not the same breed as the Shelf Elf!)

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 24/12/2025 22:06

We’ve always done Christmas Eve boxes and my family has always done Christmas eve boxes, I’m early 40’s

Ds’s are late teens.

Family matching Pjs,
Reindeer dust (they love this as I’ve got a photo of them doing it since 1.5 months old)
Hot chocolate
Family games (tonight games were how well do you know me and riddle me this)
Movie of their choice.

foxlover47 · 24/12/2025 22:10

My 13 year old had
new pjs
bubble moisturiser
selection box
fluffy socks
some little make up bits

23doorsdown · 24/12/2025 22:16

I don’t get them tbh as my would contain stuff I would put in the stocking & what’s the point in ruining the anticipation of christmas eve.
