To be sad that I’ve wasted £17 on a bottle of Bailey’s?

Bought a bottle of the chocolate Bailey’s today thinking it would cleanse my memory of downing a pint of Irish Cream when I was 14 (it was the only thing my parents had and I wanted to get smashed Grin) and throwing up everywhere. It did not. It still tastes like the original with a weird, very mildly chocolate aftertaste. I really wanted to like it as I’m a big fan of sweet liqueurs. Everyone else seems to adore it. I just can’t get past that horrid boozy taste!

Think I’ll give it to DPs instead.

Apparently there is a terrys chocolate orange baileys this year. Now, if I still drunk anything, I'd go for that.

I used to use Baileys hot out the microwave when I had a sore throat from a cold. Better than any cough sweet on the market!

It’s not very good. Not orangey enough but not as smooth as original. I drank it but wouldn’t buy again.

I will match you my bottle of mulled amaretto. I bought it on a whim. It is too sweet and I can’t persuade any family members to share it with me.

I don’t know about the mulled version, but amaretti is also good in hot chocolate! Or with Baileys and that hazelnut liquer. Or any of them in hot chocolate. Had a Baileys hot chocolate with whipped cream, topped with maltesers, once. Gorgeous but oh my goodness I felt sick afterwards!

Love chocolate baileys!😋

Chocolate orange Baileys is the one! Absolutely just as you would hope!

Where can you buy that one please?

I have seen them in Tesco.
Aldi do their own one too.

Waitrose had the chocolate one for £12.50 today if anyone’s looking.

Do you mean the chocolate baileys one? Ta

Aahh, memory unlocked!
I think it was sometime in the 80s, I drank a large amount of this cos I couldn’t taste the alcohol only the lovely chocolate…
I remember trying to crawl upstairs and loads of people in the hall below, watching me.
Then I was violently sick in the toilet, and swore never to touch anything like it ever again!
I never have.
Its next to Warnicks Egg Nog in my mind…

I'm feeling a lot of 80s vomming through the whole thread 😂

This was really not nice. The taste was bitter and it had an odd aftertaste.

Don't do it to yourself. It's really not nice!

HugglesAndSnuggles · 21/12/2025 08:34

You definitely wasted £17. They were £9 in Morrison’s they other day 😂

The Terry’s chocolate orange one is amazing, so is the pina colada one 😋

I will try this and get back to you.

It’s lovely but bear in mind it will cool down your hot chocolate significantly, depending on how much Baileys you put in. Very tasty though.

Has anyone tried the Hotel Chocolat Chocolate Cream? Was it nice?

I don't like Bailey's it's grim, but I tried m&s chocolate and cherry cream liqueur this week, it was everything you hope Bailey's will be. They also do a tiramisu flavour but I've not tried that yet

cantpullthetrigger · 21/12/2025 08:36

Drink it with some Kahlua to balance the flavour

tilypu · 21/12/2025 08:37

Bin the Baileys and get yourself some Glayva.

It's really ok to not like something and to drink something superior instead...

ZenNudist · 21/12/2025 08:37

£17 is a rip off. We buy litres of it at £10

DeftGoldHedgehog · 21/12/2025 08:38

Serves you right for not buying normal Bailey's. Nectar of the gods and £13.98 for a litre on Amazon and will arrive before Christmas.

That's the original one. The flavoured ones are smaller / dearer.

Sheridans

I always treat myself to a bottle of Sheridan’s at Christmas, it’s my absolute favourite. I also really like Disaronno Velvet cream. It’s like an almond Baileys.

LatteLady · 21/12/2025 08:41

I have to be honest, I have never enjoyed it… you don’t need to get over the incident, you need to forget it, it bothers no one else. Find yourself a drink to enjoy and not suffer.

EleanorReally · 21/12/2025 08:43

i always have it with ice

Myoldbear · 21/12/2025 08:46

Anyway, now you know.
You would have always wondered otherwise; maybe it was worth it for that.

Littlejacksmummy · 21/12/2025 08:50

I got a baileys dupe one today in lidl, toffee yum yum flavour. I have high hopes for it, there was only 2 bottles left on the shelf.

Natsku · 21/12/2025 09:01

I paid 18 euros yesterday for a gingerbread cream liqueur and its only half a litre - it better be worth it!

yikesss · 21/12/2025 09:07

Malibu and milk/choc milk is beautiful 😍
