Hair salon alleging I haven’t paid

wellbugger · 19/12/2025 09:25

Posting here purely for traffic.

I had my hair done last weekend. Their card machine was down. The stylist charged me over the app. I checked my bank in front of her and showed her that the money had left my account.

They’ve called me today to say that on their end, the money hasn’t come through. I’ve sent a screenshot of my bank which clearly shows that the money due has left my account and gone to them.

AIBU to think this is their issue now? I’ve paid, if they’re having issues with their app that’s not my problem

They are taking the piss.

Refuse to engage with them. It would probably be better if you found somewhere else to check your extensions.

I’ve contacted my bank again and they confirmed it’s rescheduled Fresha. I’ve given them the transaction number but they’re saying they’re too busy to chase and it would be best if I just paid again!

The salon need to contact Fresha, you shouldn't have to pay again and you are out of pocket.

Ffs if the salon are too busy to deal with Fresha admin then they shouldn't have asked you to pay to Fresha!

It's their responsibility to have a working payment system in place if they want payment - NOT yours!

That is so cheeky of them asking you to pay again because they cant be arsed to contact Fresha! This would really put me off using them again.

Nah, you’ve jumped the shark with that. This thread has to be a wind up.

YouMightLikeCats · 19/12/2025 13:03

Honestly OP if they ask tomorrow just repeat:
"Fresha has my money, because you asked me to pay them, so you'll need to liaise with Fresha because I can't do that on your behalf."

Don't deviate or offer alternative solutions, just say that every time they mention it.

BettysRoasties · 19/12/2025 13:03

Trying to pull a fast one there then. Getting an extra bit of cash in before Christmas I reckon to then magically refund you in January. Unless maybe they are about to go under and you’ll never see the refund.

definitely don’t pay again

Just tell them you can’t do that until the money is back in your account.

PuggyPuggyPuggy · 19/12/2025 13:04

Payments can get lost in the system. Effectively, OP has asked her bank to take money out of her account, give it to the booking app's account, who are supposed to give it to the salon's bank, who should put it in their account.

The only step that has definitely happened is the OP's bank taking it out of her account. The only one whocan chase it up at this stage is the OP - the salon literally has no evidence that they can use, or relationship to the origin of the payment, that allows them to chase it up. OP's bank needs to to check it's pockets and make sure it handed the money along, and then the next link in the chain has to do the same, until the money is found.

Swash89 · 19/12/2025 13:05

Do NOT pay again!! Don’t be a mug. Speak to the manager and tell them to sort it

You've paid via the method they requested - you confirmed with app and your bank that the money had left your account. They can demand whatever they want - you've paid and sent proof to them.

This is entirely a them problem - and I'd send a letter to them stating that plus demanding they get paid twice is not acceptable behavior.

They seem to be trying it on - and frankly I'd say that to them.

hypnovic · 19/12/2025 13:08

Are you in Bristol by chance? Ive seen the opposite scenario on a local post as in screen shot sent no money received and people saying with monzo you can cancel post screen shot ect

No. The other step that has happened is that Fresha has received the payment and OP has a screenshot to prove this. The only one who can chase it up at this stage is the salon with Fresha.

yikesss · 19/12/2025 13:09

If you can/can be arsed, can you cancel the payment from fresha/ur bank and just pay by card or BACS when you go in today? Saves all the back and forth

MoodyMargaret11 · 19/12/2025 13:15

Tjatsalon sounds dodgy AF.
They can't expect a customer to be paying double (in your case nearly £500) just on their say so. I would laugh at their face!
Please stop stressing OP and they cant cl the police as you can prove that you've paid. Even if they did- they'd be advised to seek their money via small claims court - which of course they wont stand a leg on!
CF's and I would say charlatans too. I do suspect they are trying to scam you and you're probably not the only one!
Dont engage further and dont give them a Penny, never go back.

It’s not. I have a direct fraud line from when I had to dispute a payment. It gets answered straight away!

Spendthrifting · 19/12/2025 13:31

Occasionally transactions can get lost. When this happens you would normally as your bank to first check, then recall the payment so it goes back into your account and then you can make the payment again.

Spendthrifting · 19/12/2025 13:32

Ask your bank rather

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/12/2025 13:46

I'm not a hairdresser but I manage the social media and marketing for my salon. We use a booking app called Phorest which is similar to Fresha, and funds paid to it (if a brand new client is booking an appointment it takes a deposit) take a while to clear. It also takes a cut of any money paid to it, which is why the salon has a separate payment system for people after they get their hair done.

Your salon sound like they are taking the absolute piss tbh, and I definitely wouldn't pay anything else or engage with them further. The money's just caught between platforms and they will 100% know this. Is it a self-employed stylist you pay rather than paying a salon where the staff are employed and get a salary?

What does rescheduled mean?

I’ve sent them it on Facebook. I’ve told them I’m down tomorrow so I’ll pop in then, but I don’t see how it can be my problem when I’ve paid?

Ignore this. Hadn't read your updates. Sorry!

Luxio · 19/12/2025 13:58

GAJLY · 19/12/2025 13:52

Presumably an auto correct for reached?

HoskinsChoice maybe read the whole thread?

SpinningaCompass · 19/12/2025 14:05

I wouldn't even pop in this week if you've proof you've paid and that the transaction has gone through, and you've provided this to them with screenshots. Tell them you'll wait the 2 week period the banks require to dispute it if they feel it's not in their account.
