Just for fun.

What are some things that you have done in the past or do now that you know most MN’s would find you unreasonable for?

I’ll go first:

  • I’m so unbothered if you choose to have a child free wedding and my children aren’t invited. Even close family weddings. It’s your day I’m not going to kick up a fuss that you haven’t invited to my children. You’ve probably given me at least 6 months to a year notice, I’ll just arrange childcare. If I can’t - then I can’t come and you can’t be mad at me!
  • Chose to have 2 elective c sections for no medical need.
  • Given my children chocolate occasionally before the age of 2.
  • Son slept in a cot until almost 3!

I open the door when someone knocks on it..... even shock horror..... when I'm not expecting anybody.

I've also also shared towels with other family members. 😱

Peclet · 16/12/2025 11:51

Have a loo brush.

Watermelonsugar345 · 16/12/2025 11:53

This made me laugh, I see so many posts against these!

I’ve got a hot tub!

TokyoSushi · 16/12/2025 11:56

Don't really regulate my teens screentime, they're doing well at school, they both play in teams and go to training and matches, they have friends and socialise with them, so what they do in their free time, I don't really mind.

FunnysInLaJardin · 16/12/2025 11:58

I drink too much wine! And have never had screen time limits for the DC

RanyaJerodung · 16/12/2025 11:58

I answer the door, even if I don't know who is there.
If I want to avoid someone, or some event, I don't routinely lie with some stupid excuse.
I have never had gender disappointment, I've just been grateful to have a healthy child.

Shoxfordian · 16/12/2025 11:58

I like giving and receiving stuff for Christmas

RanyaJerodung · 16/12/2025 11:58

Have a loo brush.

Me too!

Catpiece · 16/12/2025 11:58

Wash the cat bowls in with our plates Don’t dust very often. Have artificial grass. Eat my tea in bed

Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere · 16/12/2025 11:58

I ring people on the actual phone
I have multiple loo brushes
We eat a whole chicken on a Sunday and rarely have leftovers
I didn't care if my kids swore as long as it wasn't at me and was with humour
I didn't breastfeed
I think dummies are amazing

RosesAndHellebores · 16/12/2025 11:59

Tradies are very welcome to use my toilet
Visitors may keep their shoes on
Hoover and towels once a week
Bedding every fortnight
Pyjamas and dressing gowns stay upstairs
If someone sends me a Christmas card, I am delighted to receive it, regardless of how they address the envelope
My dc were allowed to believe in father christmas
A chicken serves 4 to 6 meals, depending on size

RanyaJerodung · 16/12/2025 11:59

If you come in my house, I don't care if you take your shoes off or not. Whatever you're comfortable with.
Floors are there for us, we're not there for the floors.

RanyaJerodung · 16/12/2025 12:00

Yes, I allow tradies to use my toilet as well!

Catpiece · 16/12/2025 12:00

@Irememberwhenitwasallfieldsroundhere Yes to the dummies and the swearing! 🤣

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 16/12/2025 12:01

Never use antibacterial wipes

Allow unannounced visits

shhblackbag · 16/12/2025 12:01

I have a bathroom bin and a loo brush. But hands off my towel!

Watermelonsugar345 · 16/12/2025 12:02

Oh yes to this one, I actually do not mind receiving toiletries or candles!

OP posts:
Purplecatshopaholic · 16/12/2025 12:02

I too have a loo brush in each bathroom - to date I have not suffered revilement, or been shunned, because of this!

BeaRightThere · 16/12/2025 12:03

I love Christmas. I enjoy giving and receiving presents, I like buying extra treats for myself, I enjoy cooking Christmas dinner and love festive baking. I also am aware that a lot of the work I take on at Christmas is entirely optional and that I am doing it mostly FOR MYSELF and so I don't get annoyed with other family members or my OH over it.

Watermelonsugar345 · 16/12/2025 12:04

Another one, me and DH have separate holidays occasionally. I’ve been abroad with friends despite having children, I know shocking

OP posts:
Fbfbfvfvv · 16/12/2025 12:04

I love elf on the shelf.

I very rarely iron, maybe one item a year. So no, if I’m low on money I definitely won’t be taking in other peoples ironing!

My house is never “visitor ready”.

Pyjamas are an option for day wear on a day off.

TaupeRaven · 16/12/2025 12:05

Go downstairs in my own house wearing - brace yourselves - my pyjamas!!! Sometimes I even wander about in my underwear. I also answer the door in my pyjamas or dressing gown.

I keep my toothbrush in my ensuite and not in my kitchen.

Another person whose (older) children are allowed to swear, but not with aggression or at (as opposed to "to") other people. (They may tell me to fuck off, but only if they use my first name so that we're all clear that it's intended with some irony)

Serve my family a hearty lunch and still expect them to want a normal dinner, and not consider this to be in any way strange or excessive.

SparkleSpriteDust · 16/12/2025 12:05

I thought of one last night while watching 'The Holiday.'

I answer my front door. Even if someone knocked it in the middle of the night and I was alone, I would answer it.

And because of this, I would get to shag Jude Law.

LostittoBostik · 16/12/2025 12:06

I let my kids eat UPF snacks like oat bars and all that stuff.
I let my primary age kids have about 2 hours a day of screen time (but no more than 1 hour on tablet/games, the rest is tv)
I feed them chips at least twice a week. At least that way they are actually consuming SOME carbs (they hate other potato and rice and pasta)
I don’t send Christmas cards and I don’t make my children send them either.
I phone people when I need to speak to them without sending a text first.
I breastfed my children long after they had teeth and could talk.
I only change my own bedsheets about once a fortnight.
