To think that antisemitism now needs to be tackled in the strongest possible way?

The Bondi thread in chat was eye opening.

Forty pages and a lot of it whataboutery, excuses and vile antisemitism.

It’s disgusting.

It needs to be called out. It needs to be rooted out.

I feel so sorry for the Jewish communities everywhere. How can they possibly feel safe?

My bad @Roobarbtwo I've posted twice to you, not that it's relevant given that this is a discussion forum. You're on a thread about tackling antisemitism, I think we are all aware of the impact of racist words. It still stands that if threads like that are going to re removed, there needs to be consistency.

It was full of nasty hateful mental health slurs from beginning to end - and seriously. Lots of people reported it - it was horrible

Not just to her - racist comments about her and other people. I don't think that should stand

I don't think racist comments should stand on this platform. If you didn't read the thread - you didn't see the stuff that was posted

I didn't see it but am glad it got deleted as it sounds like it got really hateful and racist.

Why are you opposed to pro Palestine marches going ahead next week?

Why are you in favour of them? The OP has made it clear that tackling antisemitism needs a harder approach. Antisemitic slogans are used way too much on the marches.

I agree.

Absolutely I'm in favour of opposing genocide!! I have been on many marches and not seen one banner that contained anything anti semitic. Not once. Anti zionist, of course, but that's a whole other thing isn't it? I worry about people's inability to differentiate ...

I want the matches to stop because they're hateful. They are chanting " globalise the intifada" ," from the river to the sea". Which have now been designated as hate speech today I think. They have their faces covered, some of them are wearing Hamas masks. No one can think these matches are reasonable. It is not free speech, it's hate speak and the matches are giving rise to anti- semitism. If you match with people chanting these slogans you are complicit. And they're managing to radicalise British ( and US/OZ) university students who probably couldn't have picked Gaza out on a Map 2 years ago. It's frightening. And funded by Iran and Qatar. And honestly it rises the threat of terror attacks in our country.

Have you been to a march?!? Interesting that you think people have been 'radicalised' rather than educated...why did you use that word?

I worry about your ability to see antisemitism.

Who organised the marches while the massacres were going on? BEFORE any alleged "genocide"?

Also..what's a "hamas mask?"...do you mean a keffiyeh??

Ursh81 · 19/12/2025 18:18

Well as a previous poster has said a definition of anti semitism is needed. I am 100% against any attacking of anyone for their religious beliefs. I'm also against a country committing genocide and believe we have the right to protest that

I haven't attended one but been caught/ seen from a bar a couple from being in town. The radicalised....maybe because of the Oxford University student chanting " put the Zio's in the ground"? If that is not radical then I'm not sure what is. And there's lots like him. Can't see that large groups of student are protesting against the actual genocide happening in Sudan. Why is that?

Ursh81 · 19/12/2025 18:20

Why do you think the genocide is only "alleged" when the UN has confirmed it is exactly that?

Yes I agree that there's more focus on Israel than other atrocities...but as a previous poster has said this is likely due to western ties with the country. I agree it is inconsistent but surely the solution is to put some more focus on these other countries rather than take it off Israel?

No the anti-zionist bandwagon really doesn't differentiate. You must also march with your eyes closed.

Why should the UN's word be taken? Its not an authority to everyone.

And absolutely nothing to do with it being the only Jewish state in the world? I didn't see any riots/ camps/ marches post 9/11 from University student, why not?

But 9/11 wasn't a genocide? I genuinely don't understand your point as you are not comparing like with like

Ursh81 · 19/12/2025 18:34

You're correct. 9/11 was a terrorist attack. Israel aren't terrorists.

Kingscallops · 19/12/2025 18:31

Then what definition of genocide would you use? Who do you believe is the authority on the word? And why, in your opinion, has Israel not met that definition?

Kingscallops · 19/12/2025 18:36

You're correct. 9/11 was a terrorist attack. Israel aren't terrorists.

You're right, they've legitimately killed 72500 people.

You don't need to add your last part ON this thread. It's not relevant. Antisemitism exists independently from events in Gaza.
