I’ve become a regular public loo

Last week a female Amazon driver asked to use my loo and of course I said yes, she said she was desperate and explained it was difficult to find a loo on a route. I must admit although I said yes I did feel quite uncomfortable as she was a stranger but obviously wanted to help. Now today she’s asked me for the third time. I was having a bad day anyway but I did say do you have nowhere else to go but here? I kind of feel I’m just going to get asked every time she comes now because I helped her out and I hadn’t signed up to be the public convenience!

I feel bad for feeling this way but it makes me feel queasy. I can’t explain why I feel taken advantage of…anyone else had repeat toilet users?

Stop ordering so much from amazon?

K0OLA1D · 12/12/2025 15:49

Set a safe place and don't answer the door

Springflowersyay · 12/12/2025 15:51

Poor woman…… I pee’d in bushes a lot when I was doing amazon delivery, but luckily it was mainly in the countryside…..

Lookingforthejoy · 12/12/2025 15:52

You’ve had the same amazon driver 3 times in a week. I always get different ones.

LVhandbagsatdawn · 12/12/2025 15:52

Stop ordering parcels from Amazon.

There are public loos about and although it is a pain (moreso as a woman), it's not impossible to plan to stop off at a supermarket / petrol station and use the conveniences there.

You did a kind thing but there's a difference between helping someone out as a one off and it being a regular expectation.

EmbroideredGardener · 12/12/2025 15:53

You're possibly the only one who said yes, but if you don't want to keep doing it then as said above, set a safe space and dont answer the door

Redpeach · 12/12/2025 15:53

Go to the shops?

Proudsaver · 12/12/2025 15:54

She’s delivered to you for the third time in less than two weeks?

Somone using my loo three times in that space of time would probably annoy me a bit but your ordering frequency is the biggest contributor to the problem to be honest. If she was using it for the third time in three months would that annoy you as much?

Amazon drivers work under shit conditions. I always offer them and couriers a cold drink when they deliver. I wouldn’t have a problem letting one use my loo if needed but I’m near a supermarket that has some and a petrol station that has too, so I guess for that reason I’m never asked.

Canonlythinkofthisone · 12/12/2025 15:57

I worked as a postie for a while during lockdown(s).
There was one house on my route that had an outside loo and had a sign up directing posties/delivery people in and let me tell you, they were my favourite people in the world at that time. When it was really hot they put drinks out too!!
Having said that, I would actually never ask to use someone's loo. But I'm not sure I'd begrudge someone using my loo when I've already said yes once

smallsilvercloud · 12/12/2025 16:00

It’s inappropriate of her to ask, I would direct her to the nearest supermarket or services for a toilet, surely at some point she could, but you are more convenient and too nice.

SEmyarse · 12/12/2025 16:00

Ah, this is difficult. I've had to ask home owners for the loo occasionally, but I do try to keep it to a minimum. But of course once I've found someone who is happy to let me, I guess I'm more likely to ask again. Much less embarrassing then being refused elsewhere.

It really isn't as easy a popping to a supermarket etc. You can be in housing estates for over 4 hours - driving out to a supermarket, parking and coming back again can easily take 20 minutes plus and fail all your delivery times.

I have a camping toilet in the van, but that's only really possible once the van is half empty.

Frequency · 12/12/2025 16:03

I've only ever been asked once. I did say yes, but also had to explain that there are 4 chihuahuas, one will want to say hello, one will bark, one will hide, but the last one will bite, and I can only hold two at a time and none of the doors, including the bathroom door, close so I cannot lock them away (HA - don't ask).

He decided he could wait.

You can lend them if you want @PinkScot

You'd faint at what we order of you think 3x in a couple of weeks is a lot.

I always feel sorry for delivery drivers, must be rotten busting for the loo and trying to find somewhere to go.

mhsonissues · 12/12/2025 16:05

I never let anyone use my toilet (I have a compromised immune system and can’t risk it). I’ve only ever had a couple of delivery people ask. If I have anyone here doing work I can lock to toilet from the outside and I just direct them to the cafe across the road

Teanbiscuits33 · 12/12/2025 16:12

I might be in a minority here, but I wouldn’t mind at all. It’s not a big deal. It’s two minutes. It’s Christmas and she’s probably rushed off her feet and, as far as I’m aware, Amazon don’t allow for toilet breaks, hence a lot of male Amazon drivers pee in bottles! Public loos are hard to come by these days.

Silverbirchleaf · 12/12/2025 16:19

Fair enough to ask once. To use you as her default stop-off point is a little cheeky.

Can you direct her to the nearest supermarket , garden centre, garage etc.? Maybe next time say it’s not convenient as you’ve just put some bleach down and have to wait sixty minutes for it to take effect etc.

ohtowinthelottery · 12/12/2025 16:24

I love the way some Mumsnetters say just tell them to go to the nearest supermarket. Where I live, that's 5 miles away. There's no public toilets in our village or any buildings open with toilets (eg pub or cafe). Amazon drivers would not be allowed to deviate from their route on a 10 mile round trip to find a toilet.

MarbleDrive · 12/12/2025 16:28

I’d hate this. I’m a dyed in the wool MNer so naturally don’t want strangers using my loo.

It’s nuts that she’s asked more than once. There must be a shop or public loo somewhere on her route. We live in the middle of nowhere and have Amazon deliveries every day, often more. They have never asked to use the loo. Quite often they just lob the packages at the door, ring the bell and scarper.

If you have someone already inside your house doing work why the hell do you not let them use the loo if need be? Jeez!

Because a stomach bug could kill me and therefore I don’t want anyone else to use the toilet ?

snugasabug75 · 12/12/2025 16:37

I let a male Amazon driver use my loo the other week, he asked if there were any public toilets around (there aren't) so I offered my bathroom. No big deal.

krustykittens · 12/12/2025 16:57

It depends. We live in the middle of nowhere, there are no public loos for miles. I wouldn't begrudge the poor woman, it's a lot harder for women to pee in bottles.

LumpyandBumps · 12/12/2025 17:00

I live in a village and our nearest supermarket is 10 miles away.
We hardly ever use our downstairs WC, which is just inside our front door, and I’d happily let a female delivery driver use it when necessary. My daughter worked as an Amazon driver for a short while and there was never time to deviate to find a public facility.

Pearshapedpear · 12/12/2025 17:02

You feel ‘queasy’ OP? 🙄

Same with Tesco, Waitrose grocery deliveries 🤮
