I know IANBU but really struggling to get decent quality that you can't easily rip or put your finger through. Any recommendations?

I bought some nice thick gold wrapping paper from Asda. I went back and bought more rolls.

Natowl · 10/12/2025 16:48

Lidl paper is usually very good although I haven’t bought any this year.

Purpleturtle45 · 10/12/2025 16:48

I bought some lovely stuff from Sainsbury's

CraftyGin · 10/12/2025 16:48

We used plain brown paper last year. No problems with it.

Peridoteage · 10/12/2025 16:49

I have bought brown paper type with designs printed on, widely available

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 10/12/2025 16:50

I got some decent printed brown paper from Primark. It's really thick, no chance of the corners of books etc poking through.

Vicliz24 · 10/12/2025 16:51

I’ve just bought some lovely thick paper from of all places Aldi .

SchnizelVonKrumm · 10/12/2025 16:52

Another vote for brown paper. I have lots of pretty christmassy ribbon (that can be reused year after year) and cut up the previous year's christmas cards to make gift tags. The presents look fab!

TotallyAddictedToCoffee · 10/12/2025 16:52

Costco have fabulous wrapping paper, and it's double sided! The rolls are massive and last years

buckleten · 10/12/2025 16:58

Costco is by far the best I have ever used, and massive rolls which are double sided and last forever!

LifeIn3Chords · 10/12/2025 17:01

I use Next wrapping paper now after years of being frustrated at thin paper! I find it really nice quality.

StrawberrySquash · 10/12/2025 17:02

Emma Bridgewater from a Paperchase type shop in Battersea Power Station. Good and thick. Not cheap, but okay if you use it for snaller things. Giant things can have a double layer of thin, cheap stuff.

Marmite27 · 10/12/2025 17:03

Another vote for Costco - just don’t drop them on your foot. My toes are still bruised Sad

GiantTeddyIsTired · 10/12/2025 17:05

I got what I thought was some lovely stuff from Costco, but the quality has gone down, and the brown paper style stuff I bought there the sellotape won't properly stick to! all in all, not been sucessful this year TBH.

GiantTeddyIsTired · 10/12/2025 17:05

This was because the previous (marvelous) costco rolls that I bought about 8 years ago had finally run out, and I needed more.

wonderpetsrus · 10/12/2025 17:06

Tk maxx

justasking111 · 10/12/2025 17:06

I bought traditional pattern brown wrapping paper from Amazon this year, it's strong and very attractive. I'm still having to use bigger rolls for a few gifts though. Some toys are boxed in very large containers.

HollyGolightly4 · 10/12/2025 17:09

Waterstones has the best quality imo, but it isn't cheap!

Solentsolo · 10/12/2025 17:11

Waitrose do nice quality paper. The thickest I ever got was from Ikea.

My biggest frustration with wrapping paper is not the quality but the lack of cellophane wrapper these days. So much paper must be wasted due to the crappy ‘just peel here’ stickers used to seal the roll of paper which NEVER ‘JUST PEEL’!

evtheria · 10/12/2025 17:12

Waterstones sell some, though the pricey kind that comes in separate sheets…

I bought brown paper with festive cats* from Flying Tiger. Not only is it good quality but it has a perforated zipper along the length so you only waste a very small strip. It’s blown my mind how it works!
This is probably my most outing post as I love cats and am Flying Tiger’s number one fan 😂
*pretty sure dogs are also available.

StarsTwinklingPomanders · 10/12/2025 17:17

I think wrapping choice has been really poor this year however I was impressed with extremely cheap roll I got him the range a red striped pattern .

StarsTwinklingPomanders · 10/12/2025 17:18

@Ithinkofawittyusernamethenforgetit loads of cellophane in the range

Excited101 · 10/12/2025 17:22

Tkmaxx paper is always excellent

SmalltownCEO · 10/12/2025 17:28

I thought I did too.

Every year I bought thick stuff that didn’t bend or crease nicely and tape kept pinging off.

I have bought beautiful thin paper that folds wonderfully and people satisfy the urge to rip into.
