I know IANBU but really struggling to get decent quality that you can't easily rip or put your finger through. Any recommendations?

I use Next wrapping paper now after years of being frustrated at thin paper! I find it really nice quality.

Came here to say Next paper. I use it every year

saveforthat · 10/12/2025 17:37

Thanks for all the recommendations. I'll check them out. I'm not near a Costco but we do have TK maxx.

Honestly the best paper ive’d used and get it every year now is primark brown paper with designs on. £1.80 for 8 metres (I think). Best quality and really nice designs

I got red/green tartan design on kraft background paper in Lidl - 99c a roll - will look lovely with red or green ribbon for Christmas and yet it's not too Christmassy so I can also use it for birthdays during the year. Win!!!

Aldi brown wrapping paper is great quality, been getting it for the last 10 Christmases at least.

bridgetreilly · 10/12/2025 17:45

TKMaxx or Homesense.

Daphnedot · 10/12/2025 17:46

100% TK Maxx. I bought mine online

Tkmaxx paper is always excellent

Yes, I can to say this. Always get mine from there now.

I must be the only person on Planet Christmas who uses gift bags for everything, every size, every shape. No wrapping involved and they are bomb proof. I put red or gold tissue paper (scrunched a bit) over the present in the bag, so no one knows what's in it until the paper is removed.

Anyway I never have a scissors and tape to hand so paper just wouldn't work with disorganised me. 😊

Costco have fabulous wrapping paper, and it's double sided! The rolls are massive and last years

Was about to say the same. Its everlasting.

I thought I did too.

Every year I bought thick stuff that didn’t bend or crease nicely and tape kept pinging off.

I have bought beautiful thin paper that folds wonderfully and people satisfy the urge to rip into.

This is a good point. When the kids were little, I wrapped everything in a couple of layers of tissue paper as they always struggled opening the thick stuff.

Now that you've reminded me of that, I might go back to it - it always looked nice, it was cheap, and it was very forgiving of wrapping weirder shaped things, plus small stuff you just used a single sheet and rolled it over and over so I never had to muck about cutting sheets up.

This is also an excellent idea - Ikea has some nice bags these days, and (whispers) Temu has them in all sorts of shapes and sizes

I got some really nice thick paper from Tesco - brown with robins or reindeer on it.

everdine · 10/12/2025 18:58

I bought recycled Christmas wrapping paper from Tesco. They had an offer, three rolls for £3!

I got some gorgeous paper in Sostrenegrene. I got it in the sales after Christmas last year. Can't remember how much it was though.

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 10/12/2025 19:18

I got some from Marks and Spencer’s and it was great quality, really thick.

me24x · 10/12/2025 19:26

Costco!!!

TheeNotoriousPIG · 10/12/2025 19:33

I am another fan of plain brown paper. I think that I bought the last roll from B&M, or perhaps Tesco, but a lot of supermarkets and discount stores sell it.

That's what I got too. I was amazed at the quality!

SunnySideDeepDown · 10/12/2025 19:44

TKMaxx paper is usually very strong. They also sell Santa sacks which are great for reusing and no need to wrap!
