To ask if this is the most perfectly cooked fried egg you've ever seen?

No snotty gloopy stuff on the top, but still beautifully runny inside. A little bit of crunch on one side but not enough to feel like you're eating overcooked bacon 😋

I forgot about the image reviews! Good things come to those who wait...

I despise eggs, but the yolk doesn't look yellow enough to me. Maybe it's just the lighting though!

Dearg · 06/12/2025 20:34

It is a thing of beauty, but to be honest , the egg DH added to my bacon roll at lunch time was prettier. I just did not think to take a picture 🤦🏻‍♀️

Mmmm makes me miss Grandad and his perfect fried eggs. Do share your technique!

Livingthebestlife · 06/12/2025 20:37

That's my perfect egg ♥️♥️♥️ love a dippy egg that has no snot😂

soupforbrains · 06/12/2025 20:38

@Livingthebestlifetook the words right out of my mouth. Looks delicious.

@EmbroideredGardenerwhat technique do you use to ensure no snot?

Fgfgfg · 06/12/2025 20:40

Nope. Needs to be crispy, fried on both sides and solid.

I always use a lid on the pan which seems to help, but if when I give it a little wobble and I see too much movement then I have perfected gently turning the eggs over for a second before serving up - with the heat off, just to let the residual heat through the snot!

I don’t like to be fussy but it’s too crunchy underneath and the yolk isn’t perfectly central or the white rounded enough. It’s breakfast but it isn’t art op!

climbintheback · 06/12/2025 20:43

My poached eggs are perfect

HelpMeUnpickThis · 06/12/2025 20:43

Nah sorry - needs more crispiness and the yolk to be brighter but that could be lighting.

Hope you enjoyed it though.

Ferious · 06/12/2025 20:44

Don't like any crispiness - sorry OP,
athough I appreciate your passion.
Basically i like mine almost like a flat poached egg.

Catladywithoutacat · 06/12/2025 20:46

Literally a 4/10 no colour and still seems runny

HonoriaBulstrode · 06/12/2025 20:49

I like them just a very little brown and crisp at the edges.

Agree putting a lid on the pan helps, but I also spoon some of the hot oil over the white to help it. I have a special teaspoon I keep for that purpose.

It's all in the timing - getting it out of the pan when the white is cooked but the yolk is still runny.

InOverMyHead84 · 06/12/2025 20:52

Looks a bit over to me. To avoid snot but ensure a runny yolk, use a lid on the pan and to get the top side over add a little water to make steam, place the lid on and enjoy the snot removing poaching effect of the steam. Only needs about 10-20 seconds.

Whatnowitsdday · 06/12/2025 20:52

Sorry OP YABU. Runny eggs are an abomination.

The yolk is off-centre, and isn't bright yellow enough. 🍳
Try again. You can do better, and you know it! 🙂

ohyesido · 06/12/2025 21:07

Don’t you get egg ick eating them this late? I love a fried egg at lunchtime or maybe with a steak in the evening but….your egg is very aesthetically pleasing tho

Erm, no! I don't like yellow yolks because it means they're snotty!

I would like to put a little sea salt on it and stick a chip in it.
