No snotty gloopy stuff on the top, but still beautifully runny inside. A little bit of crunch on one side but not enough to feel like you're eating overcooked bacon 😋

Sorry. I’m not a fan of runny yokes. Philistine, I know. All my sourdough baking foodie credentials blown to pieces. Other than that, it looks lovely.

Don’t you get egg ick eating them this late? I love a fried egg at lunchtime or maybe with a steak in the evening but….your egg is very aesthetically pleasing tho

I've never heard of egg ick! It's later than I normally have dinner but I've had a busy day, and need to collect ds from work in a few hours anyway so I'll not be in bed for a while yet.

It’s most likely been either flipped or had hot oil dripped on the yolk to put a thin film over it. It’s probably got a perfectly coloured yolk underneath.

ExitPursuedByABare · 06/12/2025 21:10

Nope. Needs to be a lot crispier round the edges for me.

Cook quickly in very hot oil. Spoon oil over the yolk.

Fried egg at this hour?

Why is there an hour for a fried egg? Surely the correct hour is when you want it?

SabreIsMyFave · 06/12/2025 21:15

Fgfgfg · 06/12/2025 20:40

Nope. Needs to be crispy, fried on both sides and solid.

This. ^ Sorry @EmbroideredGardener that is a neat fried egg, and looks OK, but I like the egg white to be crispy.

I cook mine in olive oil in the frying pan, and cook it until the egg white is brownish and crispy, and the yolk is done 'over-easy.' Not solid like rubber, but not runny... Sorta like these. (Hope pic loads soon!)

Shedeboodinia · 06/12/2025 21:15

No sorry, as since I got a single egg pan. I can cook fried eggs in a perfect circle and move the yoke so it is perfectly central. I also like to flip them. And I can get it runny inside but cooked fully on both sides. Single egg pan is a game changer.

Eww, needs to be cooked for way longer. Cannot stand a runny egg it needs to be solid everywhere

They sit heavy on the tummy and lead to egg ick. I thought it was a common thing but I guess not

BunnyLake · 06/12/2025 21:18

I made this one (except you can’t actually eat it lol) It’s made of polymer clay

Now, they are mighty fine eggs. OP, take note and learn

reallyffspeople · 06/12/2025 21:20

Needs to be a burford brown.

Ooooh yes. 😋 I had a fried egg on a piece of buttered toast for supper last night. It was lovely!

soocool · 06/12/2025 21:23

I don't like egg white. My sister doesn't like the yolk. We share our fried eggs eggs on the rare occasions we have our breakfast out. 😊

I can eat all of the egg but only when it's ever so lightly scrambled. If I see any white in there, someone else can eat it.

ReadingSoManyThreads · 06/12/2025 21:31

Meh, I've seen/cooked better. Sorry. But glad you're happy with it OP!

OtherS · 06/12/2025 22:04

Sorry, no - should be crispy over-easy... otherwise may as well just poach em and save the calories!

That doesn't happen to me. Eggs sitting heavy on the tummy. What is 'egg ick?'

Talipesmum · 06/12/2025 23:49

I like them a little runnier / yellow looking than this one, but it does look very neat, and I can entirely appreciate the satisfaction that comes from your eggs turning out just exactly right. It’s such a joy! And so so annoying when they get overcooked or go wrong.

Notgreatwithchange · 07/12/2025 04:40

I like them like rubber. Dry. Burnt is better than underdone. Basically any hint of moisture and I can’t even think about eating it…

Ohthatsabitshit · 07/12/2025 05:19

I think a slightly fresher egg cooked faster and flipped to set the top is better than steamed myself though I sometimes do them like OP. They don’t look as pretty with that dead man’s eyeball skin over the yolk.

Wynter25 · 07/12/2025 05:25

Not crispy enough

@ohyesido
If I get the opportunity for a late night diner meal I go full on Mad Men: rare steak, sunny side up eggs on top of steak, toast, hash browns and a bloody mary/tomato juice. 😋

Oh no those are to well done for me, no crunch.
