Do you believe the pyramids or The sphinx were built by the ancient Egyptians?
I’m just watching Egypt’s Secret code and Bradley Walsh isn’t accepting this theory, my husband believes it was Aliens.
I don’t know what I think really, please discuss, Share your thoughts.

You misunderstand God. You don't have to believe, but at least have some apprehension of what it is you reject.

Why? Atheism isn't about rejecting any deity, by the way. You cannot reject something you do not believe exists.

It never ceases to amaze me how quick the human race is to dismiss its own achievements. We have been masters of the planet (rightly or wrongly) for thousands of years. We have made bread from wild grass, learned the secret of fire, irrigated barren lands and created awe inspiring feats of engineering. And yet despite evidence to the contrary, some people believe it is more logical for other beings to have travelled light years to perform these tasks. Go figure.

Unless you mean I am rejecting the concept of God, Gods, spirits, demons angels, but that is patently not true, because here I am writing about the concept.

I used to believe in the God of the bible, and Gods in general. Now I don't. I did not reject anything. I stopped believing. I realized it is all made up.

I actually believe there had to be some more powerful force that built the pyramids, whatever that may be. I wouldn't rule out it being aliens, who's to stay we the only civilization in such a vast universe, and who's to say they aren't far more advanced than we are? I'm not religious at all, so that rules out any mystical being being the one that created them for me. So I don't believe your husband and is daft at all.

Why ? Most people here will know of Occam's Razor.

Even the ones positing that it might be aliens when we have an archaeological record that suggests this is the least plausible solution. I don't think so.

Occams razor needs to be bookended with Hitchens razor. Completely destroys 100% of known bullshit dead.

Like a flat earther saying they can't see a curved horizon, therefore the logical Occam's conclusion is that the earth is flat.

I’d say some people need to look up tongue in cheek.

The whole point of Occam's Razor is to not ignore the simpler and more plausible solutions that are out there. In the case of Flat Earthers those would be the laws of physics and the evidence from our exploration of space. Conspiracy theories of how all of that is faked also fall foul of the Razor.

In the case of the Pyramids, it's the massive body of archaeological evidence - both from the archaeological record and from experimental archaeology.

This isn't about the 'beggin the question' fallacy, this is about thinking people shouldn't choose to be wilfully stupid.

I would argue Occams razor isn't that well known. Especially as you move away from the science and engineering realm into art school (where a lot of pyramid experts seem to have studied).
