My GP surgery has text me to inform me that I’m duet flu vaccine. I’m going to book myself in.

Will you be having one too?

Had mine ages ago.

CharlotteCChapel · 02/12/2025 11:12

I've had mine. DS is feeling awful and has flu like symptoms, I just feel a bit off colour ans as usual DH is fine.

gillybombilly · 02/12/2025 11:13

Just had it this morning - I usually have it earlier than this though.

Luxio · 02/12/2025 11:13

I've already had mine. After having flu a few years ago I genuinely can't think why anyone who could have it wouldn't.

randomchap · 02/12/2025 11:14

Of course, flu is awful

HelloCharming · 02/12/2025 11:14

Had it about about 6 weeks ago, then promptly caught flu, glad I had the jab as I think it would have been much worse if I hadn't. Even so I was off work for a bit and below par for about a month - very tired and achey. DH had it worse and he'd had the jab too.

Same here. I usually have mine in September/October, I wonder why it was later this year. (Not that I’m complaining though, I’m very grateful to have it.)

I had mine back in Sept when they released the paid for appointments. I get it every year as soon as I can.

DH doesn't have it. The only year he got it, he got flu so feels its not worth it.

Nomnomnew · 02/12/2025 11:18

Not entitled to an NHS one but I paid for one at Tesco - only £16, I was surprised how cheap it was! I had a horrendous bout of flu as a 20-something, in bed for days, hallucinating with fever. I can’t imagine how we’d cope as a family if I got that ill now we have small children!

RaraRachael · 02/12/2025 11:20

I used to get one along with the kids at school but since I retired I'm not eligible. I had one when it was done along with a Covid booster but this year I'm not old enough. I'm not going to pay to have one.

user2848502016 · 02/12/2025 11:20

No because I can’t have it for free this year! Every time I have been able to I’ve had it and never had side effects- much better than getting flu

AnnaMagnani · 02/12/2025 11:22

Had mine ages ago. I'm eligible through work and have it every year having had hideous flu several times in my twenties - still remember hallucinating that I was being attacked by squirrels.

Last year DH had flu and I didn't. He is never ill and he was suffering for days.

This year he was desperate not to repeat it and paid for a private one.

marmaladeteal · 02/12/2025 11:22

Had it in October, and shingles and pneumonia too.

AngelofIslington · 02/12/2025 11:22

Had mine on Sunday

BethBynnag86 · 02/12/2025 11:24

Thanks for the reminder!😀
DH and I were both unwell with other things when they were first available to us in September so held back until we felt better.Because I had a bad reaction to mine last year,I didn't want to compound the general feeling of unwellness that I've suffered over the Autumn. We must go and get them sorted now-no more excuses!

dizzydizzydizzy · 02/12/2025 11:24

I had mine at the beginning of October: I'll never forget 2 of my friends having flu at the same time about 8 or 10 years ago and I was shocked how ill they both were and how long it went on for. Ever since then I have had the flu jab every year.

I generally feel the same but then thought the last think I want to do is be laying in bed feeling crap wishing I’d spent the £16.

Redpeach · 02/12/2025 11:27

No, i rarely do but then i'm rarely ill, now i'm wondering whether i should

JoWilkinsonsno1fan · 02/12/2025 11:28

Yes had it in October so did DH, I pay for my 21 and 19 yo to have it too, if they want it. They both said yes this year!

Eyesopenwideawake · 02/12/2025 11:29

Had Covid and flu a week ago. Knocked me out for 24hrs but having had flu a few years back it's a price I was happy to pay.

BIossomtoes · 02/12/2025 11:30

marmaladeteal · 02/12/2025 11:22

Had it in October, and shingles and pneumonia too.

Same, apart from pneumonia. It confers lifelong protection and, given the incidence of dementia in my mum’s family, pneumonia might be a blessing one day.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/12/2025 11:30

Had it already, with the Covid jab.

I did once have proper flu (not just a very bad cold) over Christmas - I was a lot younger then but it still knocked my stuffing right out for over 3 weeks.

So do please get yourself vaccinated if you can!

Nourishinghandcream · 02/12/2025 11:31

Had it weeks ago.

Never crosses my mind to "consider" whether to have a vaccine (or not), if it is offered I am in (and never had anything as much as a sore arm or a sniffle afterwards).

meisafairy · 02/12/2025 11:32

I had both in October, I’m extremely vulnerable I’m immunocompromised and had a stroke 2 years ago.

TidyCyan · 02/12/2025 11:33

I get a free one due to a health condition and both DH and DS get them early via GP for asthma. I think mine was early October?
