To ask if you’re having a flu vaccine?

My GP surgery has text me to inform me that I’m duet flu vaccine. I’m going to book myself in.

Will you be having one too?

I didn’t and wish I had as I currently have what I think is this flu/cold thing. I never get ill, ds had it and has been ill for a few weeks, can’t shake it. The immunisation team haven’t done his school yet, they cancelled the date they had in

And I get a free one on NHS. But a tonne of other life admin plus adhd procrastination and I didn’t get round to it and now I’m suffering!

I find the NHS portal really annoying to book through and once had to go to the other side of the city for one. When I got a work voucher I could just go to local pharmacy and was so much easier.

Same here. I usually have mine in September/October, I wonder why it was later this year. (Not that I’m complaining though, I’m very grateful to have it.)

You can get it done for free (if you’re entitled to free NHS flu jab) at most pharamacies. I got mine at boots at the start of September.

I’ve had both Covid and flu jabs. I spend too much time around students to not protect myself.

I qualify for the NHS Covid booster too, but I haven’t been called for that. I had it in January last time though, so maybe it’ll be at the same time this time round.

No way? I had no idea about that, thank you for letting me know. I’ve booked myself in at my surgery, but I’m sure this information will help someone else! Thanks!

Absolutely. We all got the flu jab free at work months ago because we work with college students, you'd be mental not to as the kids will 100% pass it on to you without.

My 3 sons have all been sick with a barking cough and temperature, I've been tending to them and I've had no more than a sniffle - it definately works!

ticktockitsNCtime · 02/12/2025 12:18

I had mine in October and I’m eligible for a free one. I haven’t caught anything yet. Last year I had a flu jab but still got the most terrible flu and it turned into a chest infection which I needed antibiotics for, so I know it doesn’t always work.

smallglassbottle · 02/12/2025 12:19

Can't be bothered, we're just avoiding people. We're retired, so it's not difficult.

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 02/12/2025 12:20

Had mine. Knocked me on my arse! Needed the wend in bed

azafata2 · 02/12/2025 12:22

Same here. Had it about 4 weeks ago. Been in bed unable to move since last Friday with the flu. 👍

Thisisnotmyid · 02/12/2025 12:22

I would definitely get it. My DD got hers on October and was hospitalised with flu last week. I’ve honestly never seen such a normal fit and well teen become so unwell so suddenly. Although the vaccine this year isn’t massively helping this years strain they did say she could have ended up a lot worse potentially if she hadn’t got the vaccine

Topseyt123 · 02/12/2025 12:23

I had mine at the start of October. I'm offered one every year and I take it.

I wish I could still get the Covid booster but the criteria have changed and I am not old enough. I could apparently pay £80 to get it in my local pharmacy, but I don't fancy doing that.

SweetBaklava · 02/12/2025 12:24

Yes I’ve had mine, and I do every year. I’ve had the flu once in my life and it was absolutely horrendous, was off work for nearly two weeks. Drives me batshit when people say they have flu when it’s just a cold! If have the flu you 100% know you do 🙄

Qualityroses · 02/12/2025 12:27

I'm not having mine. Never have done. I get offered it free from NHS and through work but still don't take it.

Why? Flu is terrible.

XWKD · 02/12/2025 12:29

I had mine last week.

Mary46 · 02/12/2025 12:29

Yes got it. We do school bus so we pick up everything going.

FreestyleInTrance · 02/12/2025 12:32

I skipped mine in 2009 because I am terrified of needles... then I got the flu.

I have had it religiously every year since!

ItsameLuigi · 02/12/2025 12:39

I don't need to but my kids will be. They're due it next week at school

Hohumdedum · 02/12/2025 12:41

No. I had it three years in a row and every time I was bedridden afterwards for a week feeling almost as bad as the two times I've had actual flu.

So I don't get it any more. I'd rather risk getting flu once every two decades than feel that rough every year.

Isobel201 · 02/12/2025 12:42

I had my flu and covid jabs in October. I don't usually feel anything from the flu jab, but the covid one makes me nauseus the next morning.

We had ours in October. No issues whatsoever

JHound · 02/12/2025 12:42

No I will not.

dudsville · 02/12/2025 12:46

I do it, but only on the off chance that I get so I'll that I would need help. Although I'm in a vulnerable category, I don't tend to get too ill, but I could, so if I can possibly save NHS resources by doing this then that's enough motivation for me.

rainbowsparkle28 · 02/12/2025 12:47

Had mine beginning of October! 💉

bodyofproof · 02/12/2025 12:48

Had Covid and flu on the same day, same arm, no side effects
I spent 5hrs with someone in an enclosed room with Covid and didn’t catch it which I’m amazed at (immunocompromised)
