Evri are lying about attempting to deliver my parcels

I have four or five parcels that are with Evri at the moment. I keep getting notifications to say they’ve attempted to deliver them but it’s been unsuccessful and there’s now one thats being returned to the sender because they’ve “tried” three times. I can see on the doorbell camera that there’s nobody even coming down the path at the times they state they’ve attempted delivery. As a result I’m going to miss out on a load of Black Friday discounts and I’ll have to pay full price, plus I’ll be without dresses etc for my Christmas parties.

AIBU to raise complaints with each retailer and ask for discount codes to bring it down to the price I would’ve paid?

I had this the other day I was in heard nothing so checked camera and nobody had been

newrubylane · 01/12/2025 19:40

My guess is that the drivers are penalised if they fail to deliver, so if they run out of time or whatever they just claim you refused it instead. When actually, you'd rather they just got it to you the next day if possible.

Well I think you've been lucky, I know some areas have a regular driver and they're good. Incidentally i work near an Evri distribution depot, not one of the massive warehouses, it's an old warehouse and run down car park, it must be at the end of the chain of depots at a guess. Every morning the car park is jam packed with 30 year old Citroen Picasso's and Toyota Yaris's, parcels strewn all over the floor, left on trolleys outside in the pouring rain etc. I'm surprised anyone actually receives them. I had a driver bringing me one at work today, after about 6 phone calls I blocked him. The last one was 'im outside'
well bring the fracking parcel in then you muppet. Turns out he wasn't, he had been about 3 streets away and it took him another half an hour to get there. Going off on a tangent here but why does every parcel I order need 20 emails and texts informing me of its location every hour. Just send me the tracking number and leave me alone, I don't give a shit as long as I receive it. I order about 15 items a day through home and work it does my head in.

I shopped with next day delivery on Friday… come today and they’re all being returned because they’ve “attempted three times” and I’ve refused delivery by not answering the door (but they haven’t tried), most of the deals I’d found have either ended or sold out so I’ll be purchasing at full price now, hence missing out on the deals

I found them to be effective contacting via social media....facebook I think. I had a parcel sitting in a hub for 4 days and was 2 days overdue its supposed delivery date. It arrived the next day.

All the drivers are at it at this time of year.... too many deliveries not enough time.

BeaTwix · 01/12/2025 20:37

evri courier nicked my liberty beauty box.

I had it on CCTV. He came to the door of my apartment block. Staged a delivery photo, then walked away holding the parcel.

Except Evri didn't do anything with it as "it's their policy to not accept third party CCTV".

Liberty were good and I got all my stuff from them via a different courier after that.

WoollyRosebud · 01/12/2025 20:38

I have a slightly different slant on delivery people. Ordered myself a pizza as a treat to be delivered and as requested on the app waited by my open front door when it said delivery was imminent. I received a phone call from the driver to ask where I was and said by my front door, where are you. He was in a car park and seemed quite surprised to be told I didn't live in a car park. I gave detailed instructions of where I was and kept being told 'app says no'. Ten minutes later the pizza was delivered and was cold by then as the driver had taken it out of the thermal bag for some reason

frenchu · 01/12/2025 20:39

My 2 parcels of over £150 worth of stuff from evri claim to have been delivered. Photo isn’t my house and the gps is over an hour away. Fed up of their shit service and I wish company’s tell you who they’ll use so I could avoid

StickyToffeePavlovas · 01/12/2025 20:39

Did they come OP? I went on to check one of mine and they have a massive ad for recruitment. They must be inundated at this time of year. Ive given up on getting them delivered to the shop too as the employees just huff & puff about packages.

2chocolateoranges · 01/12/2025 20:45

We used to have amazing evri delivery guy, always on time, always delivered to correct address and service wi5 a smile.

now , we have a few different evri delivery Drivers and we have to play hunt the parcel because they could be with a neighbour, on the door step, in a bin or few doors away!

Gettingbysomehow · 01/12/2025 20:46

Evri are complete shit. I've learnt through several scuffles with them that the best thing to do is complain via the chat bot who will pass it on to customer services who generally sort it out.

WoahThreeAces · 01/12/2025 21:07

Our Evri delivery lady is brilliant, never had an issue. Yodel, however... I got an email every day for 5 days telling me the time the parcel was coming, and nothing. Then on the 6th day, no email...but the parcel arrived 😂

Rollergirl11 · 01/12/2025 21:25

Yep Yodel are the worst. I had 2 packages supposed to being delivered yesterday within a time slot. No delivery and no email or update as to why. When I checked tracking info it said “courier waiting for address information”. Spoke to their live chat and they came back and said that the courier was unable to find my address. We are on a main road with unobscured vision/access to the front door with big house number on the door. Yodel said that they wanted me to download their app, go on to what 3 words and update my location in the app so the driver knew where to deliver. I politely told them to go f*ck themselves and just put the items back out for delivery today. Thankfully received them today.

Nope. Supposed to be here by 9, it’s obviously now 9:30. I’m just waiting for the flurry of “we attempted delivery!” emails so I can refute it with our video doorbell footage

Mine always turn up the next day when they do that

Just be fucking honest!

StickyToffeePavlovas · 01/12/2025 21:41

Ah no way, I had high hopes for you! 😫

I had high hopes! I’m hopeful they’ll come tomorrow but I don’t hold much faith

This company was beyond awful when it was called Hermes and their cynical rebrand has improved nothing.

Vallmo47 · 01/12/2025 21:54

Evri, Yodel, DPD… absolutely awful.

One time we were sitting in an upstairs window watching the DPD truck drive past on the main road, slow down a tiny bit… and proceed. 2 minutes after that we received a message stating “sorry we missed you”.
The road had plenty of space for the truck to stop and we called they said driver did knock on but no answer.

I have many such stories. Useless.

Larymarylary · 01/12/2025 21:56

I was in my house waiting for my Evri delivery. I got a message from them saying they’d tried to deliver my parcel but couldn’t access my drive or front door. Complete bollocks.

Yep, that’s pretty much it. They get paid per delivery as well so if they’re given way too many parcels to deliver it’s better for them to just say they’ve tried than to admit they didn’t get to you.

nayals · 01/12/2025 22:05

We’ve been really lucky with our Evri deliveries. Usually get the same man who leaves things in a safe place for me. Used to have real issues with them when we lived in a city though. Missing parcels all the time.
Parcel force on the other hand, didn’t give me time to get to the door before he’s run off and then ignored me waving from the end of the path at him as he drove off. With time sensitive medication that needs storing in the fridge. Email to say No need to do anything, it will be delivered next working day - which was today. Has it turned up? Of course not!

Yodel are also pretty useless.

lanthanum · 01/12/2025 22:08

IFeelLoveLikeTheRealStuff · 01/12/2025 17:56

I actually don’t know what their issue is. Usually Evri are amazing round near me but apparently this weekend they’ve just given up. And the doorbell is working fine because we’ve had plenty of other deliveries in the last few days!

In that case, your normal Evri person is probably away on holiday. In our village we all know when our (very reliable) chap is on holiday, because of the Facebook posts about failed deliveries.

Girlwithapple · 01/12/2025 22:10

We used to have an amazing Evri lady. Sadly she left, her replacement was OK but he seems to have left too now. I ordered a few things last week. One from Evri which they say has been delayed and is now just sat in the depot. A few things ordered several days afterwards using other delivery companies have arrived. If I would have known they used Evri I wouldn't have ordered with them....

Friendlygingercat · 01/12/2025 22:14

Ive had this happen with almost every service including some of the major couriers. It means that the driver either couldnt find your address of ran out of time on that day. They are only allowed to drive for a set number of hours. You can ring the service and speak to an agent or simply rebook a redelivery on the website. Its better to ring if you can but wait times tend to be long.

kiwiblue · 01/12/2025 22:18

Evri have really pissed me off as after 10 days of not delivering my parcel, and them admitting that (not doing anything to sort it, but saying they were sorry it hadn't been delivered), today they updated the tracking info to say it was delivered 10 days ago at 8pm. With no proof of delivery of course. Arseholes. The sender is now raising a claim against them and I should get a new item, hopefully, eventually.

Oddly, OP, royal mail are doing what you say- they say they've tried to deliver twice and claim my address is not accessible.
