I think it is . Why make this decision at a time when anti semitism is increasing?

So what? Its an open forum. Im picking you up on your untruths, unverified points, and insinuations.

The irony when you've literally just said that you prefer your own judgement of two people over primary sources and evidence.

SharonEllis · 07/01/2026 22:08

I guess if you wrote a lot of articles about a foreign country would it really be odd to visit that country and even be invited by that country? I mean is that 'odd' or 'murky', really? Would you bat an eyelid if we were talking about France, or Denmark , or Mauritius - jus thinking of countries than have funded visits for friends of mine who write about those countries.

Simple answer - massively yes, especially when a genocide is currently underway in that country!

OneGladPinkTraybake · 07/01/2026 23:23

It doesn't matter what your perception of other of those people are. That guy has primary sources in the form of census information and birth certificates.

If you're going to value feelings over hard evidence, again, we're not at a place where we can have a sensible discussion.

To be honest I don’t really understand why the issue of Rachel Moiselle’s religion/ ethnicity is so important to you? Since Judaism is a religion, people can choose to become Jewish. Maybe Rachel has Jewish friends and some family link and has chosen to convert to Judaism? Why is that an issue?

Would you be this critical over an Irish citizen who converted to Islam and chose to campaign against Islamophobia?

Eta - I’m not @SharonEllis🤣

It's only important in the context of i joined in here because someone said what Rachel says is important because she's Jewish. And I knew that's not accurate.

I think what she’s says is important because it’s shedding light on the rise of antisemitism. It doesn’t matter whether she is Jewish or not. What matters is whether she is misrepresenting the situation in Ireland or not. Recent news reports support her claims that Ireland is becoming more antisemitic.

We're kind of talking about two different things here.

I agree with you. It's extremely important to stamp out racism with prejudice. No acceptance of it whatsoever. The racists think that people are on their sides and they've become more vocal. The antidote is loudly showing them that we are not.

HOWEVER... Rachel peddles lies. She's on the level of Gript. But she's gotten into this position of prominence, in no small part due to being supported by Israeli media. The same Israeli media who also regularly peddle horrendous lies. That's what I have an issue with.

There is a genocide occuring in Gaza. There is also a propaganda war occurring to obfuscate that AND discredit people who stand against it. That cannot be disputed - look at the treatment of Francesca Albanese and the people on the boats who tried to breach the naval barricade, to name just two examples of many.

That is where I see a murky edge to Rachel's articles. As I previously posted, she has outright lied in her content, such as claiming that Irish people were out celebrating in the street on Oct 7th.

Anti-Semitism is wrong and unacceptable. I will not stand for it. But I also cannot stand for someone with a platform pushing outright lies about Ireland and the Irish people.

Its not hard evidence at all. Its an unsubstantiated slur obviously motivated by political malice.

But she's gotten into this position of prominence, in no small part due to being supported by Israeli media.
How exactly does 'Israeli media' (independent, and much of it critical of the Netanyahu government) help Rachel get an article published in the Irish Times? @OneGladPinkTraybake

Im personally far, far more concerned about the rise of antisemitism in Ireland than one person who has, by any measure made a useful contribution to the debate and exposed a lot of the nature of antisemitism along the way.

I wasn’t aware this was happening. In the wake of the attack on Bondi beach the Irish government ramped up security around the Jewish community.
In my opinion I think there is a much bigger anti Muslim movement in Ireland.
I agree that the a lot of Catholics in NI sympathise with Palestine, there is a low tolerance for the Palestine flag in Dublin. The same people shouting free Palestine are a lot of the same people who have a fit when Palestine people are resettled here, especially for Northern Ireland, they hate foreigners, never mind brown foreigners.
The government has spoken out against the deaths in Palestine and rightly so ATT.
There has to be certain rules in war.
I am denying that there is antisemitism but I don’t think it is as prevalent as the media and a few government officials think.
Most people would prefer the government focus on the absolute shit that is happening in Ireland.

No never. I’m absolutely shocked, I don’t know one person who thought that October the 7th was acceptable, not one.
There was outrage at the retaliation but it was well after Oct 7th, it was during the carpet bombing of Gaza as innocent people (children) were dying.

She “peddles lies” because she is “supported by Israeli media” ..? You have provided no evidence to support this claim . Your objection to Rachel appears to be rooted in your antipathy to anyone with a supposed connection to Israel. You haven’t provided any evidence that she is lying about antisemitism in Ireland but you still want to discredit her simply because of a supposed connection to Israel.

“There is a genocide occuring in Gaza. There is also a propaganda war occurring to obfuscate that AND discredit people who stand against it. “

And there we have it … you are conflating Moiselle’s attempts to combat antisemitism in Ireland with a “propaganda war” to obfuscate the truth about Gaza. Moiselle’s focus is Irish antisemitism- NOT Gaza - but you are trying to discredit her anyway.

.As I previously posted, she has outright lied in her content, such as claiming that Irish people were out celebrating in the street on Oct 7th.

Where I live in London people were out celebrating October 7th. I don’t find it impossible to believe that this also happened in Ireland bearing in mind some of the graffiti/ incidents that have since been reported. I would like you to provide evidence of any “outright lies about Ireland and the Irish people”

I don’t KNOW one person who celebrated either.
But I KNOW people did because they filmed it and put it in social media.

The fact that you were not aware that antisemitism is becoming a much bigger problem in Ireland shows that Moiselle’s campaign is important. Whatever you “opinion” the reality is that there is a much bigger Muslim community in Ireland. The Jewish community is much smaller and is facing increased abuse.

The government has spoken out against the deaths in Palestine and rightly so ATT.
Why are you conflating deaths in Palestine with Moiselle’s campaign against antisemitism ?

I am denying that there is antisemitism but I don’t think it is as prevalent as the media and a few government officials think.
Have you gathered evidence and done some research on this ? Or are you just telling us what you “think” based on your “non-Jewish” experience?

It was online. Probably taken down now. It happened in West London but if it happened here it can happen elsewhere.
You can find references to this online . You seem quite ill informed if you find it impossible to believe people were celebrating after the attack .

The capitals were for emphasis.

No it doesn’t, it means people are not interested.

Oh I’m very much aware of that, as I said the large and expanding Muslim community in Ireland is the biggest bone of contention between the angry Irish, not hate towards the Jewish community, who are a minority.
I only know of one Jewish child, a young lad in my daughter’s class in an educate together school and he is her friend.
There is protests outside schools over the culture change in accommodations made for the Muslim community, nativity play, school lunch menu, etc.
i would feel unsafe as a Muslim in Ireland.

The fact that (people in Ireland/ you) aren’t interested in the increase in antisemitism doesn’t mean it should be ignored and denied.
The fact that Muslims are also coming under attack doesn’t make the situation better…
The fact that there is increasing evidence of hate attacks on Muslims should also be addressed.

Who said that I wasn’t interested in the rise of antisemitism? I am claiming that it is being blown out of proportion, criticism of the actions of Israel in Gaza is not antisemitism.

^The fact that Muslims are also coming under attack doesn’t make the situation better…^ Indeed, the rise in racism is sickening.

Of course everyone should feel safe, Jewish people, Muslim people, and immigrants, social media is the work of the devil, too many sheep spreading hate.
