I think it is . Why make this decision at a time when anti semitism is increasing?

I should have put quote marks round that F word, but I think most people will know what I mean. Anyone who may already have had AS tendencies is now feeling entitled to ‘come out’.

Must say that well before the Gaza trouble, I was shocked to hear a very good friend who I’d known for ages, come out with, ‘Oh, Jewish, in a very clearly ‘anti’ tone, re someone she’d first met only minutes previously. It was a very hot day in France, she’d been asking why on earth the person in question was wearing tights, and dd had given a likely reason.

Pukkajones · 07/12/2025 09:21

‘the Gaza trouble’ wow. That’s some under statement right there.

"most people will know what I mean"

Not a Nazi. For reasons that are quite obvious. Look it up if you can be bothered to not post antisemitic crap out of ignorance.

The Gaza trouble like the Irish problem or the Indian problem.

Pesky natives causing trouble for the colonial rulers.

Well you obviously do as You have posted a string of antisemitic statements which you apparently feel justified to do so you obviously think its socially acceptable.

I did not post anything that was antisemitic. Andi Zionism yes but not antisemitic.

The Nazis promoted anti-Semitic ideologies.
You are being deliberately ignorant and offensive.
( they also slaughtered entire Jewish communities in gas chambers and attempted a real and planned “genocide “)

What Israel is doing is not at all similar to what the Nazis did and you're making yourself look more and more ignorant. Its actually very possible to criticize Israel without resorting to this. Herzog actually fought against the Nazis and was involved in the liberation of Bergen- Belsen.
Just look it up, apologise, choose your words more carefully in future, or live with the accusations of antisemitism you're rightly getting on here.

Oh yes, just like the slaughter of entire communities in Gaza.

There is a C of Ireland Church on Zion Road, thats why the road is called that. Not because of the Jewish school which is on the same road.

Eejits with their football matches, every time they run one the Jewish community stay away from the park. Playground is currently under construction anyway so won't be too many kids there tomorrow. And rain is forecast.

Ah OK. I didn’t realise that. My points about the other types of commemoration still stand.

Mintypanda · 07/12/2025 10:12

So like, if Ireland qualify for the World Cup are they going to boycott it? Likely a moot point.

OpheliaIsntMad · 07/12/2025 10:14

Greysowhat · 07/12/2025 10:09

Oh yes, just like the slaughter of entire communities in Gaza.

70,000 people have been killed in the Gazan conflict - mainly bombing . Far too many . Criticise Netanyahu for that ( not people who are long dead and buried)
Millions of Jewish families across all of Europe were were worked as slaves in concentration camps and herded into gas chambers and slaughtered if they were of no use.
You are sick and deluded to equate the two events.

Ironically, it’s actually dissimilar because of what the Nazis did.

The Jews are probably the most persecuted group in history, with discrimination dating back 1000s of years. Nazisim is the pinnacle of this, with, as I’ve previously stated, entire populations of Jews disappearing from countries.

The idea of Israel as a safe haven for Jews is founded on this history. Does this justify the current conflict? No. Does it differentiate the situation from that of Nazi Europe? Hugely.

Mintypanda · 07/12/2025 10:49

I don’t know whether it’s a generational thing or what but I almost get the sense that we are forgetting just how bad the Holocaust was. When I visited Auschwitz one of the things that struck me was how modern and sophisticated it looked. This is recent history, not even 100 years ago. Can you imagine what that would do to a religious / ethnic group? This is why the IDF is such a formidable and powerful force- it’s grounded in fear and an extreme need for self-protection.

I think its maybe because its taught to children in school before they are old enough to properly understand the scale, context and importance of it. I know I wasn't able to until in my twenties or thirties. Anyone making a direct comparison between Israels current actions and the Holocaust really, really doesn't get it.

For sure. And That's a really good point about age. Its become sentimentalised with a soft focus on things graspable for that age. And the structural political side isn't the sort of thing you'll discuss with younger kids.

My point was in differentiating theirs from the actions of Nazis and providing a context rather than an excuse.
