Shitty note from new Neighbours after moving in

We moved house on Friday - have had a hectic few days trying to sort things and have this week off work thankfully.

There is one bathroom in the house and this is upstairs at the front of the house which faces our driveway. Next to the driveway is a neighbours house directly opposite.

The seller has taken all blinds out of the property as is their right and we’ve spent today putting some new ones up, including in the bathroom.

Yesterday, a note got put through our door:

”Get blinds for your bathroom, we don’t want to see you having a shit”

The window is frosted but I assume at night with the light on you can see in.

This was obviously from our neighbours opposite. AIBU to say they went about this in a rude way? They could have sent a politer note or knocked on the door.

How dreadful what a nasty way to behave

Ooh, this doesn’t bode well. What sort of lunatic posts something like that through the door? Surely you just wouldn’t look? How hard is it not to stare at someone’s window, especially when they’ve just moved in. You’d have to be pretty nasty.

I don’t think I’d throw it away just yet. Just in case they turn out to be as horrible as they seem. Put it in an envelope and tuck it away somewhere out of sight. Just in case you need to evidence anything in the future.

I might also be inclined to speak to one of your other neighbours and ask whether your seller had any issues with the note senders.

Petty me would have sent a note back "Then don't watch you dirty bastards" but reasonable me would just ignore them. Yanbu to feel they was rude though, when I saw my neighbour in a private moment I looked away and didn't say anything.

write neighbour a note, thank them for their delightful note & tell them to get blinds for their own window? (also it wasn’t a shit anyway).

also need to add there are quite good coloured film sheets which are very effective for a quick cover whilst minds are made up about what to put in & time found to actually put up! good luck with your lovely new house 🙂

Someone upthread suggested it was a juvenile who sent the note, and I think this is possible. When I was about 13 my friend and I sent a letter to a neighbour taking the piss out of a statuette on their windowsill. We were a pair of little twats amusing ourselves 😞

Cut out “Stop looking, you perverts!”’in a large piece of cardboard and stick it up at the window, so that when you’ve got the lights on it lights up as a message for them.

Was it definitely them? Are they the only ones with a view in? People are nuts these days, could have been another neighbour who walked by.
