Shitty note from new Neighbours after moving in

Laylamum2 · 25/11/2025 18:19

We moved house on Friday - have had a hectic few days trying to sort things and have this week off work thankfully.

There is one bathroom in the house and this is upstairs at the front of the house which faces our driveway. Next to the driveway is a neighbours house directly opposite.

The seller has taken all blinds out of the property as is their right and we’ve spent today putting some new ones up, including in the bathroom.

Yesterday, a note got put through our door:

”Get blinds for your bathroom, we don’t want to see you having a shit”

The window is frosted but I assume at night with the light on you can see in.

This was obviously from our neighbours opposite. AIBU to say they went about this in a rude way? They could have sent a politer note or knocked on the door.

Say nothing, but get a window sticker of a shitting Santa for the bathroom window.

100% the only way of dealing with this 🤣🤣

Blades2 · 26/11/2025 17:55

My petty self would be taking the bathroom blind back down and holding on to my shits until it’s good and dark.
the nerve of some people.

Hahaha what nutcases!!! I'd be tempted to have a petty moment, print out a massive poo emoji and put it on the window 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Judecb · 26/11/2025 18:04

Horrible of them, and not the greatest start as neighbours. I'd kill them will kindness (bring flowers of a bottle) and suggest you all start again. You'll be next door to each other for a long time!! 😕

Oliviaaa2 · 26/11/2025 18:06

Curl one out on their doorstep when they are next out. Bonus points if you have a curry the night before.

Tessabelle74 · 26/11/2025 18:07

I'd take the blind back down again because I'm a petty twat

Poodlelove · 26/11/2025 18:08

Any normal person would wait , you are obviously just moving in.
On the other hand if you don't want blinds up I don't see why you have to.
They don't need to look.
I can see man opposite in the shower and I know he knows and does it on purpose, he is young and fit.

crumpet · 26/11/2025 18:09

Well the plus side is that at least you know your window was see through and can avoid exposing yourself in the future. Also the neighbours may become embarrassed once they do get to know you!

You Herbert!

Only joking, can you PM me your address please

We had awful neighbours when we bought our first house. We tried to engage but they just weren't interested. We made wonderful friends next door to them and completely ignored them for 4 years. This drove the husband up the wall and we soon realised he was controlling a coercive towards his wife and every neighbour lived in fear of him.

Heyhoitsme · 26/11/2025 18:42

We had an anonymous note days after moving to our house. It told us to get our hedge cut. They also sent someone from the council to inspect it. We DID get it cut but not in the first week. People who write notes are usually nuts.

oldmoaner · 26/11/2025 19:01

Well at least you know what they're like don't you? If you put a light on with frosted glass you can see in as if it's clear glass. I mentioned it to a neighbour of mine, just incase they didn't realise, and was told, we don't care who sees what.
I'd put blackout blinds up but pop outside with them closed and light on and see if anyone could still be seen, if they can then add some of the patterned stuff you stick on the window as well. Must have good eyesight if they can see someone on the toilet, unless it's a very very low window 😂

A polite anonymous note would have been ok ‘just to let you know, people can see into your bathroom, you might want to put a blind up’. No need to be rude about it.

Yes , even that!

😂😂😂🎅

HessianSack · 26/11/2025 19:12

When we first moved here my neighbour yelled at me across the street that she could see me getting dressed in my bedroom and that her visiting family members were "disgusted"!!

ThistleTits · 26/11/2025 19:13

Why would they look in your window knowing it's a loo? Perhaps, they should close their blinds. Nutcase, ignore them.

anyolddinosaur · 26/11/2025 19:17

Doesnt have to be the people opposite, could be anyone who walked past and realised the window was see through. There are politer ways to tell you but you've now made me go and check what can be see in one of our (very frosted) windows when the light is on at night. Pretty sure I checked it once and all you could see was a rough shape.

Melonjuice · 26/11/2025 19:50

Post it back through their letterbox
if it wasn’t them then they have nothing to worry about
if it was it sends a message of up yours
they need to get blinds

DangerousAlchemy · 26/11/2025 19:55

Gettingbysomehow · 26/11/2025 16:56

My neighbour can see me shower through the glass so I have to shower with the light off.

jeez. that's it. I'm buying blinds 😫

Greenshed · 26/11/2025 20:18

Ignore them. That is so incredibly rude of whoever sent the note.

CatA27 · 26/11/2025 20:48

RoxyRoo2011 · 26/11/2025 14:30

I’m petty and passive aggressive so there would be no blind going up in my bathroom if I were you

This! And I would dance about in front of the window naked every night!!

pestowithwalnuts · 26/11/2025 20:56

I don't these patterned windows always obscure what going on inside.
DD lives across from a house which has a bathroom at the front.
It would seem that the bath is under the window as they have seen the chap giving his backside and todger a good old clean.
Another occasion..chaps wife could be seen giving him a BJ.
DD just laughs..she says it's not her business what they do in their bathroom

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 26/11/2025 20:58

How big is your bathroom window?

I think they are having a larf.

JillMW · 26/11/2025 21:50

Doggielovecharlotte · 25/11/2025 18:26

surely no one can see you once your on the loo as your below window height

also frosted wouldn’t allow people to see what you are doing lights on or not - just a blur of colour

Our neighbours bathroom on the side of their house overlooking my garden has a full length window, presumably previously another room, I don’t know. It is frosted glass but the frosting seems to disappear with the light on. I like to sit in the garden at night with a cuppa before I go to bed, often my neighbour from the other side joins me. We position ourself so we can’t see as we feel really embarrassed if we are facing them and can clearly see them on the loo, climbing in and out of the bath or shower. I don’t suppose they know and it is too many years now to mention it.

Icebreaker911 · 26/11/2025 22:48

Not a very nice way to say hello - but I can understand what they say as I lived opposite people who had frosted, full length windows & that meant I could see EVERYTHING! that they did on the bogg - very revealing, but I never said anything, & eventually moved to a nice place on the coast - now I just watch the ships go by.. .
