Shitty note from new Neighbours after moving in

Laylamum2 · 25/11/2025 18:19

We moved house on Friday - have had a hectic few days trying to sort things and have this week off work thankfully.

There is one bathroom in the house and this is upstairs at the front of the house which faces our driveway. Next to the driveway is a neighbours house directly opposite.

The seller has taken all blinds out of the property as is their right and we’ve spent today putting some new ones up, including in the bathroom.

Yesterday, a note got put through our door:

”Get blinds for your bathroom, we don’t want to see you having a shit”

The window is frosted but I assume at night with the light on you can see in.

This was obviously from our neighbours opposite. AIBU to say they went about this in a rude way? They could have sent a politer note or knocked on the door.

You really do get nosey Norris’ - obviously someone opposite. Not an issue now you have blinds.

Please, please post when you meet them and tell us what they're like!

Zappas famous "toilet poster" in the window, facing them.

yes! get this made into a blind.

HangingOver · 25/11/2025 21:54

Mrs Over the Back once sent her adult granddaughter round with a message to tell us to paint our house.

RollOnSunshine · 25/11/2025 21:58

I would purposefully remove the bathroom blind again to wind them up.

GingerPaste · 25/11/2025 22:12

Don’t put the blinds up! 😂💩

ReadingSoManyThreads · 25/11/2025 22:20

I'd have to pop a reply through there door.

"Noted, but the previous owner told us you were into coprophilia. Apologies for the miscommunication."

Bungle2168 · 25/11/2025 22:23

I do not believe you.

Change your WiFi access point name to "WATCH-ME-SHIT"

We've a run of houses opposite and can see them use their loo as it's out the front. Even saw the dad having a cheeky wank one night. Told hubby, we had a laugh, then we just got on with my day, nobody has to look and certainly not outraged enough to write a note.

Some people are just too whiny for the sake of it. Ignore your new neighbours and good luck with getting your lovely home just as you like it.

DoYouThinkYouCouldTell · 25/11/2025 22:47

@Charlize43 , I would go with bog paper, maybe with some 'special effects ' on it 😂😂

swingingbytheseat · 25/11/2025 22:49

Maybe it was kids mucking about

Jessica5432 · 25/11/2025 22:50

i wonder if this is why previous people moved

EmeraldShamrock000 · 25/11/2025 22:51

They're weirdos, now you know why the house was sold.
All bathrooms are the same around here, most people have blinds but I've seen people shaving, plucking eyebrows, drying naked after the shower, sitting presumably on the loo, I've never once considered mentioning it.
Our ex neighbours, 4 men had no blinds.
Start the way you mean to go on, ignore them otherwise they will continue to irritate you.

Zappas famous "toilet poster" in the window, facing them.

It would be fab if you could get that image printed on a roller blind, and hang it in the bathroom with the image facing out!

AlphonsaAlpaca · 25/11/2025 22:55

My neighbours are frequently naked in their bathroom in full view of half the street. No curtains or blinds, all tall, and at night their lights are all on and it’s the only thing you see if you happen to glance outside. I wouldn’t dream of sending them a note. They are a horrible family who hang out in the garden until 4am screaming and shouting and blaring loud music.

GoodQueenWenceslaus · 25/11/2025 22:59

Leave the blinks open with a large two-finger sign in front of the window.

Howdoyoudodoyoudo · 25/11/2025 21:03

The fact they put an anonymous note through the door instead of knocking and maybe saying “ I don’t know if you are aware but you can see in your window when you are in the bathroom , I thought I would let you know to save you embarrassment “ shows the type of people they are. Ignore them.

A polite anonymous note would have been ok ‘just to let you know, people can see into your bathroom, you might want to put a blind up’. No need to be rude about it.

Terrytheweasel · 25/11/2025 23:13

I’d be purchasing a strobe light on next day delivery ready to direct at their house from my bathroom window with immediate effect. What nutters. Why are they looking at your bathroom window?

Northquit · 25/11/2025 23:14

Get a blind with an image that looks like someone sat in the bathroom

SENcatsandfish · 25/11/2025 23:19

Oh I see some clever shadow shows being created 🤣.

Tying your shoelaces whilst your OH puts things into the cupboard

Twinkletoes127 · 25/11/2025 23:46

Am I the only person who would remove the new blind and purposely stand in the buff, with the light on to really give them something to look at?

notallymcbeal · 26/11/2025 00:01

It's not necessarily the neighbour over the road though. We were driving once and saw someone using their toilet as we drove towards their house (they were facing a T junction). They had a massive window that did have a blind on it (my husband sold and fitted it!) but hadn't pulled it down when it got dark and had their lights on. They obviously had no idea that their privacy glass is totally transparent once the light is on. We put a note through (although much more polite) just to let them know. I'm sure they must have been mortified, but sometimes it helps to have this pointed out.

However whoever sent this to you is totally out of order for the horrible language used.

**edited as I didn't realise you'd put blinds up yourself. Unless you've fitted blackout blinds they will usually still be see through with a light on.

Franjipanl8r · 26/11/2025 00:02

I’d want a mannequin staring out of the window to make it look like you’re naked just standing there all day watching them.

BatshitOutofHell · 26/11/2025 00:09

If they have blinds on their bathroom window how can they see into yours? Nosey bastards.
