Just for fun! I don’t think I’m harbouring a future Van Gogh just first child and not sure what to expect at ages! So what age would you say?

How old for child who drew this?

I think it depends on what it’s meant to be…. Haunted monster bunny? They’re very good. Father Christmas? They’re shite

MyOliveCritic · 22/11/2025 18:11

5

amber763 · 22/11/2025 18:12

It's really good for their age op. I love kids drawings.

To clarify I hadn’t read that they were 4. It’s pretty good for 4.

WanderlustMom · 22/11/2025 18:18

I’m shocked at the age 5 suggestions .. my 5 year old can just about draw a stickman 😂

Never mind the age it’s terrifying! What is it?!

This!

Zippidydoodah · 22/11/2025 18:22

Ok, I’ve just realised there are 4 pages so read the OP’s posts and wow, it’s very good for a 4 year old! And now you’ve told us what it is, I can see it! 😆

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 22/11/2025 18:22

5+ depending on artist talent. I could probably have drawn it at 5/6 but my brother still cant draw that well at 42. So 🤷‍♀️

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 22/11/2025 18:24

Just seen they’re 4. It’s very good for a 4 year old.

NormasArse · 22/11/2025 18:25

I know of teenagers who aren’t that artistic, and a couple of pre-schoolers who are!

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 22/11/2025 19:20

I think that's really impressive for a 4 year old.

Rainbowcat77 · 22/11/2025 22:54

Yes this is impressive for a four year old…definitely encourage him Op!

As a primary art and design specialist, I would say this is above expected levels for a 4 year old. The use of mark making, level of detail and accuracy of shapes would be closer to the expected levels of a 5/6 year old. However, children do all develop at very different stages and ages and can make leaps in progress at some points and not so much at others.

Thank you this is really interesting. I thought so too, as I said we have seen VERY basic drawing previously from him but he occasionally throws out something that really impresses us! Bless him. Just glad he’s found something he enjoys above all x

Is it a guided draw like ‘draw with Rob’ these can produce sophisticated results that may not be consistent with usual drawings as they’re step by step

I know what you mean, where they show you to start with a circle, figure of 8 etc. but no it was free hand, so he really did a great job bless him x

I was going to say something similar, people implying this is normal for a 4-5 year old seems wild! My nearly 4 year old is barely out of scribbles, I have to really prompt/guide him to get a drawing that vaguely resembles anything 😆

Looks like a bride bear with a bumhole face, which in itself is great

PrincessOfPreschool · 23/11/2025 19:55

4-5 for an artistic kid. 6-7 would be average.

All children have different strengths. I work with 2-5 year olds and some of them are so artistic whilst others can barely hold a pencil but may have other strengths. This drawing is very imaginative so I think it's a fairly young child.

Olderbutt · 23/11/2025 19:58

I think 6 ish

Growlybear83 · 23/11/2025 20:30

5 or 6

HillBetty · 23/11/2025 20:31

5/6

ScrimMN · 23/11/2025 20:34

I’m a professional children’s illustrator and I would be absolutely buzzing if my 4 year old drew this op! It’s brilliant for his age

CeciliaMars · 23/11/2025 20:42

7

EsmeSusanOgg · 23/11/2025 20:54

This is very good for 4, especially from their imagination. I'd have guessed 6-7.

Beenwhereyouareagain · 23/11/2025 21:02

What you're seeing is the attention to detail, expressiveness, and the ability to give the drawing shape and motion. Very hard for lot of people, so I'm impressed by this.
