Just for fun! I don’t think I’m harbouring a future Van Gogh just first child and not sure what to expect at ages! So what age would you say?

Somewhere between 4 and 7 depending on artistic ability.

Floatlikeafeather2 · 22/11/2025 15:13

I immediately thought of Miss Piggy because of the hair and stole. I'm not going to guess the artist's age because you know how old they are and I have no idea why you want us to guess.

pinkyredrose · 22/11/2025 15:16

3 or 4

Mamamia2019 · 22/11/2025 15:16

He’s 4! It’s a teddy bear 😂😂 it was only light hearted for those getting in a grump, I don’t think they are the future Van Gogh I was actually surprised they drew it as we’ve only previously seen very stick man type drawings! They had a “still life” of a teddy bear they had to draw at school. I was just interested in what’s expected at different ages but I’m very laid back when it comes to milestones as I know they very much can slow down or speed up progression at different points. So we are loose on expectations in our household. Thank you all!

Taking my kids' efforts as a benchmark, 6-7.

scotsmumofteens · 22/11/2025 15:40

3-4 ? My daughter is now 14 and this would have been something I think she would have done around that age . She’s no Van Gogh but she enjoys art, drawing , pottery, painting. I’d say your child is going to be very creative too :) xxx

BigFatLoser · 22/11/2025 15:41

4

AhBiscuits · 22/11/2025 15:43

I thought it was the Candyman, you know when the bees fly out of his mouth.

JayJayj · 22/11/2025 15:59

4/5. I have a drawing I did of a school boiler when I was 6 and it was very detailed so I’d definitely say younger than that.

I think that’s fantastic for 4. Love the expression on the face. Your DC has amazing pencil control. Lovely detail.

PeachyKoala · 22/11/2025 16:01

4-5

thentheycameforme · 22/11/2025 16:05

Is it a guided draw like ‘draw with Rob’ these can produce sophisticated results that may not be consistent with usual drawings as they’re step by step

Cremefraicheeee · 22/11/2025 16:10

I was going to say around 4 based on one of my daughters who is now 7 and loves drawing! But my other daughter, who is now four, draws circles and circles only😂

AmyDudley · 22/11/2025 16:10

I was going to guess a 4/5 yr old who is keen on drawing, so I'm pleased I was right. Its a cool drawing, well done him. he obviously enjoyed the art lesson at school. took it all in and was inspired by it. Brilliant, definitely encourage his artistic expression, he sounds like a lovely boy.

It’s a very old teddy bear going by the cat’s bum lines around the mouth- very observant!

I think it’s great work from a 4-year-old (and I love it!)

user1476277375 · 22/11/2025 17:34

As a primary art and design specialist, I would say this is above expected levels for a 4 year old. The use of mark making, level of detail and accuracy of shapes would be closer to the expected levels of a 5/6 year old. However, children do all develop at very different stages and ages and can make leaps in progress at some points and not so much at others.

BoomBoomBoomShakeTheRoom · 22/11/2025 17:36

It’s great for four. Skill wise and imagination wise.

Barnbrack · 22/11/2025 17:58

6?

Testingthetimes · 22/11/2025 18:03

I think that’s amazing! I know you are not saying he is the future Van Gogh but also who knows.. maybe he is?!
if my child enjoyed the process of drawing then I’d definitely encourage it - there is certainly no harm..

Lougle · 22/11/2025 18:08

I've just looked at a couple of pictures DD3 drew when she was 3½ and 5. She's now 16 and has a real gift for art/crafting.
