To wonder what on earth has happened to Stacey Solomon’s instagram?!

Hello.
I will preface this by saying that I do like Stacey, SYLO is a brilliant show.
However. Her instagram has become completely extraordinary recently - it’s constant selling for Amazon. One day it’s random Christmas decs, the next day it’s Oura rings. She was trying to flog a jetwash earlier this week!
She used to do crafty bits and easy recipes and show us lots of pics of her ducks and nice kitchen. But now it’s just incessant flogging of crap!

Each thing she shills seems to follow a certain pattern:

  1. here’s a thing she’s doing using an item while chatting. Item is front and centre but never mentioned.
  2. shortly after comes an update ‘so many of you are asking….here’s the amazon link
  3. she then tells us to keep it in our baskets for reasons, I don’t know.

Last night she was wittering on about making an Amazon storefront to load all her tat onto, whatever that is.

The formula is incessant. She can’t be short of money so why the change in direction and obsession with Amazon, I wonder? Aibu that it never used to be this blatantly sales-y?

Just unfollow her?

Tryingatleast · 21/11/2025 18:23

prob she has a deal with them, no better person to become properly rich!

Sprookjesbos · 21/11/2025 18:24

She isn't the only one. It's the affiliate links through Amazon. If you click on the link, even if you don't purchase the item, it places a cookie on your Amazon account which gives commission on anything else you buy for a limited time (I think 24hrs). I unfollowed a bunch of accounts recently for this, it's sneaky and greedy. There was one the other day where she said something like "this bow on my door was quite expensive but here's the link" knowing that people would then click just to see how much it cost. More and more people will wake up to it soon enough but for now it's raking them in loads of money so they'll milk it while they still can.

Lostcherry · 21/11/2025 18:29

Yanbu.

I used to like her and find her relatable but she’s just a savvy saleswoman.

I don’t blame her but it doesn’t make her very likeable imo and she comes across quite fake.

Dabralor · 21/11/2025 18:29

Wait hang on @Sprookjesbos - so. If I buy the tatty light-up Christmas trees she’s flogging today, then a cookie sits in my phone and sends Stacey commission for other things in my basket too? That I chose myself without her? Is that seriously right?!

It's worse than that - you don't even have to buy the tacky tree, you just have to click the link and look at it. That's why it's so effective.

Shocking right?

That’s about the size of it, yep!
Basically they are all manipulative scumbags, earning a dishonest living. Unfollow all the fuckers is my advice. I don’t mind the TV but the socials are just immoral.

Wonderknicks · 21/11/2025 18:19

Just unfollow her?

Yes this is obviously the way forward. But there’s something morbidly fascinating about observing it in real time- it’s such a blatant strategy, but I don’t know what for. However, @Sprookjesbos says she could be earning commission on everything that is in my basket - isn’t that horrifying if true?!

How ironic that she presents SYLO!!

TruJay · 21/11/2025 18:34

I’ve noticed so many people I follow who were just ‘ordinary, more relatable’ people who were skint like the rest of us, all of a sudden sharing their favourite perfume on ‘offer’ for £150! Or this lovely white t-shirt, it was £270!!!! Just totally different from what they used to be. Lovely they’ve had success but £150 perfume or a £270 t-shirt is not relatable or the norm at all.

SilverPink · 21/11/2025 18:34

Never click on affiliated links. Search the thing yourself!

ExtraOnions · 21/11/2025 18:34

Grifter tries to flog tat to Sheep …. How is that a shock in anyone’s book

Sprookjesbos · 21/11/2025 18:34

Yeah I agree unfollow them, but honestly I think "just unfollow" is a cop out for these people. It just shouldn't be allowed! Not much us mere mortals can do though!

Kreepture · 21/11/2025 18:35

its probably to do with her contract for filming Stacey & Joe.

Well she earns commission for sending people to Amazon, not for a specific item. That's just how affiliate marketing works

Dabralor · 21/11/2025 18:37

Well. I. Never. So she earns off me the moment I click her link.

At Christmas, during a cost-of-living crisis. My word.

I’ve just checked and was feeling bad that there is a new content about her duck pond and kale. However, boom- the next story it all starts again with her son and some crappy racetrack. Mystery link with no price or mention of Amazon pops up straight after. So she’s goading hapless mums like me into clicking the link to see how much the racetrack is and then earning money off my naivety. My mind is blown.

I don't understand how anyone can earn money from clicks when no purchase has been made 🤯

pIum · 21/11/2025 18:46

It happens to most influencers over time as they get more and more followers. Very few people seem able to resist the lure of more money. The sums they can make are insane.

OhCobblers · 21/11/2025 18:47

I don’t click on any links from people I follow on Instagram. Just screen shot the item and put it into google images and it comes up with where to buy the item (most of the time but clothes in particular are good to find this way). I will not allow influencers to earn from me!!

Dabralor · 21/11/2025 18:51

@ohcobblers that is super clever!
(if only i needed some cheapo-stringy Christmas tree ornaments).

I will save this advice and use it when I next see something nice.

I think I will inflow Stacey now - I bet she will be quaking in her boots, not! Anyway, I feel like this thread is becoming a brilliant public service opportunity for us at Christmas.

thank you to everyone who has explained what it all really means!

The cookies stay on for up to 90 days too, so on some products even if you don’t buy anything there and then but then decide in another few weeks to order something, they could still make money from your purchases. It’s very sneaky. Her sister and her dad are doing it too. When people have queried why they’ve not been transparent about the cookies from the aff links, Stacey and Jemma have put posts on about “trolls”

What do you mean 'during a cost of living crisis'??

She isn't lifting money from your account or stealing food from orphans mouths.

They get paid a fee/commission from the company they're 'advertising' when a click happens or a purchase is made as a result of their video.

If people in this day and age genuinely don't understand how this all works they need to go do some learning.

changingliketheseasons · 21/11/2025 19:00

I always assumed it was part of their job as influencers. It creates revenue for them as they get paid commission. It’s because Amazon are selling things for Black Friday so there’s some bargains (or supposedly) and then it’ll calm down and be more normal again.

It gets a bit boring though. I just scroll past. I just like seeing the ducks etc 🤣

What’s the cost of living crisis got to do with anything? It doesn’t cost you anything, and ahe’s done various stories etc explaining her affiliate links, how it works, that she makes money etc. Influencers post to make money, this isn’t new information

CraftyNavySeal · 21/11/2025 19:02

I think I reached peak influencer when I saw Stacy Solomon toilet cleaner in Sainsbury’s the other day
