AIBU that this is the most ridiculous thing for a company to claim.

"Can a transgender woman have a period? Absolutely. Many trans and gender-diverse people menstruate. Whether you’re a woman, a man, non-binary or agender, your body may menstruate too."

When I was looking for period swimwear earlier this year, I came across that absolute bollocks and immediately added Modibodi to the list of retailers I won't purchase from.
They make their profit from periods yet apparently fail to understand basic female biology.

ThePeachHiker · 21/11/2025 13:50

I recently started reading The Knowledge by Dr Nighat, unfortunately this wonderful, informative book was ruined for me by the unscientific bullshit about Trans people experiencing illness which only women have. I have lost two children, suffered years of pain/bleeding due to medical gaslighting when I was eventually diagnosed I lost an ovary and part of my bowel in emergency surgery. My tolerance for men thinking they have/can any understanding has completely disappeared.

JudgeBread · 21/11/2025 12:44

It's the one thing that as a woman if I had the power to give it to a man I absolutely would. If you want to spend a week every month cramping, bleeding, headachey and nauseous and dealing with the absolute joy that is period shits by God here you go, take it from me.

Alas with all the will in the world, it's not to be.

Totally. All yours fellas

Rightsraptor · 21/11/2025 13:51

This is so stupid.

The defining characteristic of menstruation is the loss of blood etc shed by the lining of the uterus when it breaks down. Things like mood swings, food cravings, cramping etc etc are not necessary for menstruation. Of course lots of women get those things but they are not essential.

If we allow to these idiots to redefine our biology like this they'll be removing bleeding from the diagnosis for menstruation, so that won't be recognised as a part of it, while the defining characteristics will be mood swings, tenderness etc because men can experience those things. If men can't do it, it doesn't signify.

Modibodi more than Budlight and all the rest deserve cancellation. Boycott.

Really suffering with menopause hot flushes and night waking. Mysteriously Dh is totally unaffected?! Can anyone advise?

He's not thinking his woman-ness hard enough. Has he tried period pants?

Oh yes I forgot about David Lammy.

How do intelligent adults believe this stuff?

They don't.

It’s funny that men imagine we women have conversations like this because never in all my menstruating years have I said anything like this to any other woman.

Gosh I have, every month just before having a sleepover in a tiny nighty with pillow fights and then we all scissor.

If Blur were to release Boys & Girls now this would probably be the lyrics!

It does make me wonder though, when they're eventually going to try transplant a uterus into a man.

There is a research team in London etc fund raising on how to do this ( as experimentation on babies is what a cool father decided is the best start in life ).

I tend to incline my head and squeal in delight at nothing after the pillow fight in my tiny nighty. Do you?

I won't buy this brand... if they are that stupid and offensive to women then I van't believe in their products.

Let men buy their products for their periods... see how fast they go bust!

It also says SOME transwomen don’t have uteruses.

hahahahahhahaha what even are words anyway

hahahahahhahaha what even are words anyway

Exactly!

I used to waste a lot of time on Twitter before it was X and it was very common indeed to see some deluded male talking about having his period and various empty-headed #bekind types lapping it all up. As far as I could make out it was all about abdominal cramps, feeling a bit out of sorts, needing a great deal of attention and a big bar of chocolate. Anyone sane who mentioned what a period actually is, i.e. shedding the lining of the womb as part of the menstrual cycle, would be told that the bleeding was a relatively unimportant part of having a period and not to be a hateful bigot. Well, as someone who found periods almost literally a curse for several decades (I had endometriosis), I beg to differ. Thank god for the menopause. That is all now behind me.

viques · 21/11/2025 13:57

I want to know if modibody are adjusting the ahem, fit, of the period pants for men to accommodate the structural differences between male and female bodies, or are the poor chaps just going to have to get used to feeling a bit constrained one week in four.

Will help those who find a higher register voice hard to maintain I suppose. “Charmaine must be on his period this week, his voice a has risen by an octave.”

MatronPomfrey · 21/11/2025 13:57

I don’t buy this brand because of rubbish like this. I do wonder if it’s a marketing strategy to sell period underwear to men.

Absolutely whilst swapping our modibodis for extra affirmation.

I get my bicycle out and cycle through the cobbled streets of a sunny city whilst wearing tiny white shorts and waving my beautiful long hair about sexily....and then I pop off and have a swim.
What I actually did was curl up in a ball of agony for the first 2 days and pray I didn't have PE or swimming at school until it had finished.

JaneOfGaunt · 21/11/2025 13:38

Wow, so bigoted. What about uterus-havers who identify as men who identify as women?

What a cunning ruse!
Yet Alice Through The Looking Glass absurdity is going on already is it not, where burly, even bearded transwomen are calling themselves lesbians, and insisting not only on right of access to exclusively lesbian spaces but to a legal right to be embraced by the women as equally biologically female, failing which any reluctant and dismayed lesbian lover is denounced as bigoted, homophobic and transphobic, and no doubt also stereophonic, alcoholic, and all the other ‘ics’ as well.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 21/11/2025 12:55

Some years ago I came across a discussion on one transgender discussion group where men were saying they retrieved used sanpro and used it themselves. Presumably they put the tampons up their bums. There are few limits to what fetishists will do.

Oh dear - I remember this too well 🤢

Pedallleur · 21/11/2025 14:01

I'm not a Doctor but has human biology suddenly changed? Egg, uterus, womb. Where are these periods coming from assuming a biological male?

AgentPidge · 21/11/2025 13:52

My husband was affected by my night sweats as the heat I generated in the flush woke him up every time. He was thrilled when I started on HRT! 😂

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 21/11/2025 14:01

We need to boycott this pervy shit. It's the same as adult nappies.... it's not ok and it's not part of women's lives.

Men using sanitary products is perversion.

Dgll · 21/11/2025 14:01

It is written like a parody. I bet someone in marketing was pissing themselves laughing when they wrote it?

I'm still waiting for the day when a TW sues the NHS for having the audacity to diagnose her with prostate cancer.

Brefugee · 21/11/2025 14:05

to be fair to them, in this economic climate, every sale is a small success, right?
