AIBU that this is the most ridiculous thing for a company to claim.

"Can a transgender woman have a period? Absolutely. Many trans and gender-diverse people menstruate. Whether you’re a woman, a man, non-binary or agender, your body may menstruate too."

I particularly ‘like’ the bit that says ‘some trans women don’t have uteruses.’

😂😂
I wonder whether whoever wrote this tripe has the first clue about basic biology?

Alas, an awful lot of people, who are not necessarily uneducated, are equally clueless. My own dh (science degree, further prof. qualifications) said at the height of the ‘trans’ debate, that he supposed it could be possible for a trans woman to ‘grow a uterus’.

Didn’t some fairly eminent politician say much the same?

Needless to say, I soon put dh straight.

David Lammy said men could grow a cervix.

We live in an age of idiocy

Switcher · 21/11/2025 13:04

I have this vision of the future where knowledge goes into sharp reverse. LLMs will keep amplifying all this absolute quasi religious bullshit until it becomes fact.

Really suffering with menopause hot flushes and night waking. Mysteriously Dh is totally unaffected?! Can anyone advise?

Oddly, the menopause is an aspect of the female experience that transwomen don't seem keen to appropriate.

In fact, a decent proportion only start taking hormones at an age where most women's bodies are cutting production.

I would suggest that the middle aged newly hatched transwoman embrace cronehood and just buy a pair of tweezers rather than trying to capture a girlhood that was never theirs and spending a fortune on "affirming" period knickers.

Regardless how you feel, you don't need period pants if you don't bleed. End of story.

However, not needing them doesn't mean not wanting them. This just seems like a cynical plot to get more sales.

I wonder have they thought it through though. There are a few examples already of companies that have haemorrhaged their (large) female base by targeting a small number of delusional men,

KneelyThere · 21/11/2025 13:06
  • Avoid asking invasive or personal questions that may make someone uncomfortable.

For instance

So do not say, “but I thought you are a fella!”

Do say “hey thought you might want to know you’re leaking. If you’re flooding I’ve got some maxis in my bag I can lend you, and there’s a packet of paracetamol in there too. Oh and you should always wear black when you’re on!”

Because the latter will affirm and they’ll be happy to chat blood and wardrobe, because that is good lady-chatter .

Apparently they do cramp just not bleed. I wonder what is cramping then?

Well, have you ever had stomach cramps or diarrhea or some other kind of gas or gut pain, something going on abdominably that was not your period but kind of reminded you of your period?
I'm quite sure that there are many instances that can cause a cramping gut-wrenching feeling which you could say "feels like a period"

Cuz let's face it,. Is the shedding of the menstrual blood of the lining of the uterus. Transgender individuals who are born as biological males do not have a uterus. They can take hormones which if they had a uterus and they had a bloody lining, would maybe cause it to shed but they don't have that. But it's possible that taking the hormones might give them some kind of a gut cramp or bloating or discomfort.

I'm sure that if every one of us biological females out there was asked to list One symptom only of their period, within 5 minutes we'd have a list of probably a hundred unpleasant symptoms (thankfully not every single one of us gets these symptoms every single time but unluckily some of us get them a lot more than others)

I suppose if you're a biological male, and you're on female hormones, your nipples might get sensitive. All humans have nipples. They can get sensitive. And you can get bloated. You don't have to be a female for that. And you can feel crampy, not uterine crampy because they don't have a uterus, but crampy in general. And you can have diarrhea. And you can have a headache. And you can feel nauseated.
And maybe your blood pressure can fluctuate (mine does, I get faint sometimes on my period and it's not an iron related thing although biological males can have low iron too)

As someone who has experienced some of the worst symptoms of what we call "a period" for my entire life, I can agree that there are aspects to this event that do not include a uterus.
But that's as far as I'll go. Obviously unless someone gets an artificial uterus installed (I'm pretty sure uterine transplants into biological males is not a thing yet) then there's no way without cutting themselves that they can experience menstrual bleeding and they will not expense experience uterine cramping or, the pain of having cysts bursting on their ovaries or other such fun things that we go through.

Lalgarh · 21/11/2025 13:07

They definitely think natal males are who they are talking about but yes then couch it in wishy washy all friends are magical language

"Who are trans women?

Everyone’s experience with gender is unique and personal. You’ve probably heard of gender identity, which is all about how you feel on the inside. This is a bit different to gender expression, which is how you show your gender to the world through things like your actions, style and body characteristics.

How does this relate to being trans? Well, trans is a term that can describe people whose gender differs from what was presumed for them at birth. A trans woman is someone who is a woman and who was assigned male at birth.
Note: some trans people see ‘being trans’ not as an identity as such, but more a as history or experience. "

motherofgodhaudyerwheesht · 21/11/2025 13:07

WTAF. Gaslighting the entire human race, way to go, Modibodi.

"Bottom line is, people of all genders menstruate. Trans women’s periods are just as real and valid as anyone else’s, so whether it’s tracking your hormonal cycle, slipping on some comfy period underwear or checking in with your doc, do what makes you feel supported and affirmed through your cycle’s ups and downs."

This has got so ridiculous I can hardly speak. Less 'supported and affirmed' 🙄 and more absolutely exasperated. ( But also grateful I have navigated a large proportion of my life before fact, and truth became optional fucking extras. )

Instructions · 21/11/2025 13:08

Males don't get periods. People who identify as transgender women are male. They do not get periods. They do not have a uterus and they do not menstruate.

Some males who identify as transwomen and take hormones to change their body's appearance may experience side effects they characterise as the same as a menstrual cycle. They are side effects. That these side effects may include mood changes, abdominal or breast tissue pains, temperature changes, changes in appetite, variances in libido and the rest does not change that they are side effects and that males do not menstruate or experience PMS.

The rank dishonesty does nothing for the TRA cause.

Is menstruate for modibodi actually also "ejaculations"? Is that what they're getting at? The unwanted emissions of a night

pondscaters · 21/11/2025 13:10

Of course they can!!
You have clearly not got the memo that a period nowadays doesn’t have to include actual bodily fluids exiting the body. If you feel you are having periods symptoms, then you are having a period.
What’s so hard to understand??😆

KneelyThere · 21/11/2025 13:11

It actually makes me feel a bit sick, the idea of a man asking to borrow period products from a woman and the woman feeling obliged to say yes to affirm the man’s identity as a trans woman.

MO0N · 21/11/2025 13:12

'Your body may menstruate' sounds like a prelude to 'any bleeding = menstruation'.
If men pretending to be women want to make that claim, then women can surely claim that any spitting = ejaculation!

Superhansrantowindsor · 21/11/2025 13:12

This absolutely boils my piss. I had to wait years to get my uterine ablation / to get doctors to take me seriously. I would bleed through two pads and my clothes regularly. I was anemic. As a teen I had to give up hobbies I enjoyed because of my periods. All the symptoms they list are things every human being experiences in their life - tiredness, cramps, gas etc. But only women bleed. Just when you think the appropriation of womanhood has reached its peak, along comes this nonsense.

They don’t have any kind of hormone syndrome that mimics PMS because that’s caused by a drop in progesterone which triggers prostaglandins to rise in the uterine muscle (and also a bit in the muscles of the surrounding bowel tissue).

Oestrogen is at its lowest at this point, but it’s actually fluctuations in progesterone that triggers PMS. Prostaglandins are responsible for pain, bloating and cramps. Progesterone inhibits prostaglandin production. Period symptoms, including cramps and bloating, digestive upset, etc. are triggered when progesterone rises then drops sharply at the end of the cycle (which in turn is triggered by the corpus luteum, the body left behind after the egg is released). This drop in progesterone allows more prostaglandins to be produced in muscle.

This is GCSE-level biology, yet still we get the nonsense claim that trans women (on a consistent dose of oestrogen throughout the month) are experiencing a menstrual “cycle”. Even if they are among the vanishingly small number of trans women taking any kind of progesterone, it’s the absence of oestrogen and progesterone that causes PMS and cramps!

It all makes zero sense, and, I can confidently say, is made up nonsense that is part of playacting “being a woman” (or, to be a little charitable, possibly psychosomatic in a few people who really fervently want to believe in it). Either way, it’s disappointing that this fact-free scientifically illiterate nonsense has been allowed to take hold, and is being propagated by companies selling products to actual women and girls.

It's the one thing that as a woman if I had the power to give it to a man I absolutely would. If you want to spend a week every month cramping, bleeding, headachey and nauseous and dealing with the absolute joy that is period shits by God here you go, take it from me.

Alas with all the will in the world, it's not to be.

This X a million.
There are so many things I have never experienced, gout, conjunctivitis, noriovirus to name a few. And I'm glad about that because they don't sound pleasant, so why people wish these fuckers on themselves I will never know. But if I could then I'd gladly hand mine over.

Lalgarh · 21/11/2025 13:14

Yes there's occasional posts on social media of the more deranged ones convincing themselves who post they Are on the blob by doing unmentionable stuff with tomato sauce, which is not only gross but leaves them open to chronic yeast infections 🤮

Yes, anyone can get their period, trans women included
Menstruation, often referred to as a period, is a part of many people’s lives. Defined as the periodic discharge of blood and tissue from the uterus, menstruation is just one stage of the larger menstrual cycle, which typically takes place over 28 days.

Can a transgender woman have a period? Absolutely. Many trans and gender-diverse people menstruate. Whether you’re a woman, a man, non-binary or agender, your body may menstruate too.
This article explores the different ways trans women get their period and provides some tips on navigating your cycle.
Got a trans woman or trans girl in your life who you want to support? There are some pointers in here for you, too.
Who are trans women?
Everyone’s experience with gender is unique and personal. You’ve probably heard of gender identity, which is all about how you feel on the inside. This is a bit different to gender expression, which is how you show your gender to the world through things like your actions, style and body characteristics.
How does this relate to being trans? Well, trans is a term that can describe people whose gender differs from what was presumed for them at birth. A trans woman is someone who is a woman and who was assigned male at birth.
Note: some trans people see ‘being trans’ not as an identity as such, but more a as history or experience.
Do trans women have periods?
Many trans women have periods. Some trans women don’t have uteruses, so they won’t bleed as part of a monthly menstrual cycle. But the hormonal experience of menstruation can still be very real.
Some trans women undergo gender-affirming treatment in the form of feminising hormones. These hormones can result in a range of physical and emotional symptoms, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Appetite changes
  • Bloating due to water retention
  • Cramping
  • Tiredness and fatigue
  • Listlessness
  • Mood swings
These symptoms may occur at the same time each month, just like premenstrual syndrome (PMS). For many trans women, this is their period. Having a period feels totally normal and fine for many trans women. Some even find it deeply cathartic and validating. But if your period symptoms are upsetting you, chat with your doctor about adjusting your hormonal regime so that it doesn’t trigger a noticeable cycle. Tips for navigating your period as a trans woman Here are some top tips for managing your period as a trans woman:
  • Track your hormonal cycle: Use a tracker app like Clue to keep tabs on your cycle and any related symptoms. This is a quick and easy way to feel more prepared and in control.
  • Wear period underwear: By offering a sense of comfort, freedom and security, period underwear can help you feel comfortable, affirmed and empowered throughout your cycle. Check out our Women’s briefs and All Gender collection.
  • Do what makes you feel affirmed: Whether it’s seeing friends, experimenting with different self-care activities or indulging in your fave comfort food, do what makes you feel good during this time. It’s all about embracing who you are inside and feeling comfortable in your own skin.
  • Seek support when you need it: Trans women’s periods are not well understood just yet, so you might encounter changes in your body that are seemingly out of the blue. If you ever get worried, consult your doctor.
How to support trans women during their period Being a good ally to trans women during their period means being respectful, understanding and supportive. Here are some keyways to be there for them:
  • Be kind towards the trans women in your life, and acknowledge their experience as women. Respect their names, pronouns and bodies.
  • Create a safe space for them to share their feelings and concerns. Sometimes, all we need is a friend who gets it, so listen with an open mind and heart.
  • Educate yourself about trans experiences, including menstruation, and help correct misinformation. (TransHub, Twenty10 and local LGBTQIA+ community centres are good places to start.)
  • Avoid asking invasive or personal questions that may make someone uncomfortable.
  • Practice patience and empathy. Remember, everyone’s experience is unique, so it’s always better to ask questions than make assumptions.
Period care is for everyone Bottom line is, people of all genders menstruate. Trans women’s periods are just as real and valid as anyone else’s, so whether it’s tracking your hormonal cycle, slipping on some comfy period underwear or checking in with your doc, do what makes you feel supported and affirmed through your cycle’s ups and downs.

I hadn't clicked the link cause I didn't want to give them clicks but
HOLY FUCK
I would never buy anything from that company after reading that.
They are basically encouraging men to buy their products so they can feel affirmation.
Years ago I saw a guy online pretending to be a woman and saying that his goal in life was to have a uterus transplant so he could carry his own child, now as if that's not bad enough, the reason he wanted to do this was so he could them ABORT said child and his affirmation as a woman would be truly fulfilled.
I can't remember exactly where I saw it but it has stayed with me.

Goldfsh · 21/11/2025 13:16

How does a period product manufacturer not know what periods are? Weird and mad.
