To say that women look bloody weird ….

GoingbackwardsForwards · 20/11/2025 22:00

.. when the only part of their face that moves is their mouth and eyes.

And don’t get me started on the massive fish lips.

Never see any naturally beautiful young women on TV these days. Such a shame

Vogue looks the same as she did 20 years ago when she was modelling. Just older. The work she has had is minimal.

You have to be kidding! She's had so much work done.

GarlicHound · 20/11/2025 22:48

FlyMeSomewhere · 20/11/2025 22:38

But you've turned this in to personally insulting the OP! This isn't about the looks people were both with! This is about women paying so called aestheticians to deform their faces! And all you can focus on is tearing apart the looks of a woman you've never met was born with?

This isn't about the looks people were born with

Exactly. It's about getting rid of the looks they were born with.

I'm confident they weren't all tragic mingers before they had themselves puffed & paralysed.

When the fashion changes, those who are young will have enough skin elasticity to regain the looks they were born with. Older pillow-faces will look like collapsed balloons ... so they'll opt for surgical nips & tucks. 💲💲 Ka-ching!

FlyMeSomewhere · 20/11/2025 22:49

All the uber aggressive women on here need to calm down! This isn't about slating the looks that people were born with! It's the women paying crooked so called aestheticians to give them big platypus lip! So many women and men are walking around looking like they've had a massive allergic reaction to something! Big swollen solid faces and piggy eyes because they have had so much filler packed in! It's not natural looking to have filler put in between your top lip and your septum! These people are paying unscrupulous people to deform.their faces!.

I don't get the vicious defence of it, look.at the years of suffering and infection that Pete Burns went through! He had to drink through a straw all the time and it probably put a toll on him that lead to his premature death.

EarthSight · 20/11/2025 22:49

XelaM · 20/11/2025 22:35

Omg yes!!! I have recently watched a film with male actors completely unwatchable due to whatever the hell they did to their faces. Definitely not just women.

I've seen one recently where they've clearly gone too far and he looks like he's on estrogen or something (not trans, just feminised face). I don't think that was intentional - they just smoothed him too much.

There's comedy sketches about this wider topic on Instagram, like a guy playing a woman with massive fish lips going 'Oh, I am but a milkmaid'. 😆

Jewel52 · 20/11/2025 22:46

And they just seem to miss the obvious point that they are judging women on their appearance in a way that is so reductive and feeds the compulsion to use aesthetic treatments.

All the tedious comments about “weren’t they so naturally beautiful before” zzzzzz.

You know it's possible not to read something that you find distressing or annoying? Everyone judges one another, all the time, on everything. You just judged the OP on her thread and other people on their comments. It's the normal human condition to judge, we have always done it, and always will. It's an evolutionary thing, we notice weird looking people to keep us safe. They stand out, because they are not normal looking.

If OP was walking up to the woman and saying "You look like a freak" that would not be ok. If she was gossiping and titttering behind her back at work, that would not be ok.

But women are allowed to comment on things online and we will keep doing that. Hopefully a pornbot faced young woman will see the comments and think twice about making herself look weird.

More likely she will never see them and keep messing her face up to her heart's content.

Either way, no harm done.

IcedPurple · 20/11/2025 22:51

I think cosmetic surgery is like make up. You only really notice it when it's overdone.

While there are a lot of puffy faced, trout pout types, a lot of actresses in Hollywood get excellent subtle work done. You don't notice the work, you just see that they look good. I'm not only talking 'older' actresses either. Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lawrence and others have all had several procedures. What we think of as their 'natural look' has actually been helped by skillful cosmetic work since the early days of their career.

The trouble is it doesn't take much for 'excellent subtle work' to turn into 'way too much'. So many actresses are just one procedure away from overdone. Vanessa Kirby is one who went from having a lovely unique face with some subtle 'refinements' to looking harsh and not at all like herself. Emily Blunt is another. I guess when money is no object and you're immersed in a superficial culture, it can be hard to know when to draw the line.

I agree. Vogue was naturally pretty, and it's easy to see how and why she was a model.

She has had loads done, and it's not done her any favours. She looked way better before.

I am not going to put any woman down for how she looks…

You've falsified what this is about, it's about asking why people pay unscrupulous aestheticians to completely fuck up their faces.

Happyjoe · 20/11/2025 22:55

Is it always slagging off/being sly or making a fair observation? I've had no work done either and everyone is free to do what they want, goes without saying. But I feel sadness when I see the likes of Jordan, who was once a really naturally pretty lady to what she keeps doing to herself now. Is she happier for it? I don't know because she keeps putting herself through it over and over again and as a woman I just want to give her a bloody big hug and say she's fab as she is.

bottledboot · 20/11/2025 22:55

I think as people age it’s where it starts to look odd or perhaps the celebs go overboard. All the above celebs have obvious tweaks and some are started to look a bit too done. I agree Vanessa Kirby and Emily Blunt have gone too far.

I don't think it's hateful and vile to try and point out that these young women are already lovely.

There must be huge pressure in the entertainment industry to have this work done, it looks awful, they all look identical anyway, and it's not without other risks.

It also puts pressure on other young women to have this work done, girls who cannot afford to go to reputable clinics and risk lifetime scarring or injury. It's just another way of making women feel they aren't good enough. I cannot think why you wouldn't want to condemn it.

Amen to that! It's so bizarre that some posters seem so extremely defensive of pumping shit into your face, lips, and body. Beggars belief really. I see very VERY few people who look better for all the procedures and fillers ... Many people look ridiculous! But oh nooooo, we can't critisize other women, because da sistahood! 🙄 Doesn't seem to apply when it comes to bashing and berating posters who have opinions they don't like!!!

!

CheezePleeze · 20/11/2025 23:02

75% of posters agree with you OP, despite the moaning.

I'd say what's probably got people's backs up is that you've made this all about women, and ignored all the older male celebrities who also look ridiculous.

MrFluffyDogIsMyBestFriend · 20/11/2025 23:05

As a PP said, maybe if people were more honest about it looking awful, it would put women off.

It makes me feel uncomfortable because I find it fascinating so I want to stare but I'm desperately trying not to and don't know where to look.

Also, hasn't it been proven that botox reduces empathy because people who can't move their faces properly can't mirror facial expressions?

ThatJollyGreySquid · 20/11/2025 23:05

It’s easy to say that it’s no one else’s business, but when it becomes the norm it does affect every woman because if you don’t do it, then you’ll appear different. It’s like the pubic hair removal trend. A lot of men now expect complete pubic hair removal as it’s been « normalised ».

I was fearing for my safety for a while there!
I haven’t noticed it so much with older male celebrities and I guess it seems more of a pity when young people feel the need to mess with their youthful beauty.

It's not ironic, you've made a thread specifically and for the sole purpose of bitching about other women, all they're doing is calling you on that. It's low, shitty behaviour and you should be a bit embarrassed that this is what you're doing with your Thursday night. Slagging off other women on the internet.

Your response here is abit overwrought. It's not as simple as woman like what they like so leave them alone. The urge or need for a 27 yr old to inject their cheeks isn't just a matter of preference like nail vinyls. It's a serious and risky surgery that costs lots of money and has health consequences. It actually tells you more about the pressure and insecurity that that women feels than a simple preference. It's a phenomenon that is hard to ignore and shouldn't be. What does it say about women's sense of themselves if the need to beautify themselves at such cost is gaining traction? Aren't we supposed to o be moving past this now? I worry for my sister hood that they discount their own natural faces so much and who is it really for? Who are they doing it for? For themselves? To keep up with other women? For men? For society ?

I think it's a shame when anyone pumps shite into their faces/bodies no matter what their age or sex.

But now I've mentioned the men (particularly actors) you might notice them more.

It's both weird and sad.

Imsurethatimcertain · 20/11/2025 23:08

Let them all look how they want. But I do think everything has a cycle. My teenage girls and their friends find tattoos and all this botox hilarious. It will all come and go in cycles. None of it matters.

Stucknstoopit · 20/11/2025 23:08

I agree op. I’m no oil painting, I was a natural beauty when young and haven’t aged as well as I might due to long term ill health and medication etc but I accept that anything else is more time, effort and money than I’m willing or able to spend on my appearance.
i think it’s incredibly sad that society, the media, the makers of these ingredients, beauticians, cosmetic dentist etc are promoting this stuff and perpetuating the idea that the only way to look good is to spend a hell of a lot of money on things that completely change how your face works, how you speak, etc.
people are defensive and angry when it’s pointed out how ever so slightly off key it is, how dystopian it is, how it’s feeding into people’s insecurities and making them spend so much money to give themselves odd worm like wrinkles down their forehead when they smile, like a cyborg or strangely turned up at the side nostrils, or shiny tight skin or teeth veneers that make it hard to speak or migrating filter giving odd double lip outline etc
yes granted, some women look amazing but often not for long unless they have the best practitioner.
my local therapist is stunningly beautiful but it also looks ‘off’
all these angry responses here are not accepting the bigger picture being ‘WE ARE BEING SUBTLY BRAINWASHED INTO NOT LOVING OURSELVES UNLESS WE KEEP LINING SOMEONE ELSES POCKETS WITH MONEY TO KEEP INJECTING IS WITH TOXINS OR OUR OWN BLOOD OR HAVING WEIRD CREEPYTHREADS UNDER OUR SKIN ETC.
i really worry where it will end and I pray it dies a death soon and that our naturally beautiful young people can be a allowed to shine and our beautiful older people can learn to love and embrace the changes,
give yourselves a break and work towards self love not hating your true self in the mirror.
id hate my stunning daughter to want to look generic and slightly Simpson/y

TheSilentSister · 20/11/2025 23:08

I hear you OP and there will be a time when we look back and laugh at this disfiguring fashion era. Those that can afford it will just keep on pumping themselves full of fillers etc until they're too old to care and no one will recognise them anyway. Others, well, will probably look a bit ridiculous with sagging jowls and puffy lips. But hey ho, each to their own.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 20/11/2025 23:09

To add… I think the trend is going towards having MORE work done rather than looking natural and I think that’s a real shame. One of the contestants on MAFS had her cheeks filled along with the normal lips and forehead and it aged her massively as well as looking really disconcerting. I think it’s important to speak out because women need to understand there are lots of people (men and women) who believe that natural is best and perhaps won’t opt for these unnatural procedures to smooth out the face at the expense of looking normal and natural.

Hons123 · 20/11/2025 23:10

Why this unkindness? Totally unnecessary. And I say this being thin-lipped and having wrinkles.

Joeninety · 20/11/2025 23:10

Should be made a criminal offence for the disfigurement some of these 'surgeons' inflict on their gullible patients.
